Thread: My Tie Advanced project.

Well, the last few weeks of playing JTL has clued me into the evil that is the Actis Starfighter, so I've decided to hang mine up. When I started playing it, I gave up on my trusty (and woefully underequipped) Tie Advanced. I loved that ship, so I've decided to outfit in the way it deserves.

So far, I have this planned:

Reactor: Mark I Crafted, 1200 mass, 12K generation (overkill, but makes overloading a little easier)

Shield : L8 RE project based on the L8 reward. Should get over 2500 hp back/front. Going for about 29k mass and 2300 drain.

Capacitor: L2 RE project. Already did this one. 1000 energy, 38.5 regen, 1100 drain, 1800 mass

DI: One of my yummy pre-nerf crafted DI's. 430 mass, 470 drain, 12.1 speed. Yay!

Engine: I have a prenerf L6 RE engine with 96 top speed, but I didn't RE it well, YPR is all around 68-71. 1500 drain, 9000 mass. It feels really good in an Advanced, especially with EO4 going.

Weapons: Two L6 RE guns. Drain oneach will be around 2000 and mass around 9000. One is almost done. Looking at damage around 1800-2500 and eff. ratings around .650 or so.

Booster: L4 RE I did last night. Based on the Reward booster, got it down to 450 drain, 3100 mass. 14s burn time at about 28 speed.

Am I offbase here? Anyone see somewhere I can do better?

looks like you are at about 62.3-63k mass.

If I were you, I would drop the booster, and get the parts for this config with an IR2 for PvP. Also, you should be able to get a cert 2 Cap that is lighter than that by about 500 and toss in countermeasures for PvP.

For PvE, drop the IR2 and get an RE Boltdriver as one of the weapons. You should be able to RE it to 14k ish and just swap easily.

overall it looks pretty good, but i would try tocram in an l8 engine. heres my current T/A loadout.

MKI reactor, 1200 mass 12500 output
RE 8 engine, 23k mass 101.5 speed 75 ypr
RE7 shield 16k mass 2200/2200
MKII armor, 2k mass 600hp front only
RE7 gun 14k mass 2-3k dmg .65 ev* .32 refire
RE5 gun 5k mass 1200-1800 dmg .68 ev* .32 refire
MKI cap 900 mass 40 recharge 600 storage
Chaff launcher, 800 mass
MKI booster 1k mass
Prenerf l1 D.I. 14.5 speed 500 mass

for yours i would switch out the cap to a mkI, the shield to a mkIV (or a nice protecto re like mine if you can) and the booster to a mkI. that should save you enough mass to upgrade to an l8 engine and possibly cram some light armor in (depending on how low mass your l8 is)

also if you arebuilding it for pvp, i would go with a l5/7 gun combo instead of the dual 6s. you lose a bit of damage per shot, but you more than make up for it in refire rate. in pvp a 6/6 and 5/7 will both disable a opponent in one hit, but you fire alot quicker with the 5/7 so your odds of geting that hit are greater. both weapon loadoutsare about the same mass.

I went a slightly different direction with my advanced.

Lvl 1 reactor

crafted mark IV shield

RE'd lvl 2 cap

prenerf di

lvl 6 engine

mark I booster if i recal correctly....

but here is wehre it gets fun

lvl 8 RE'd blaster

lvl 7 RE'd blaster

with those two guns i have a highly effective ship in both pvp and pve, its a blast, and i rip though ships like butter.

Great input.

One thing I'm hesitant about is using a MkI capacitor, because I like the 1k energy for shunting.

The RE8 engine will be a challenge for me too, because with the QIDs I ended up getting I'd have the same top speed and only slightly better YPR scores on an engine that's 14k mass heavier. Both of my QIDs are around 91 speed. :/ The Yaw on my RE6 is 71.something. With I notice the difference between 71 and 75, in an Advanced running EO4?

I also like your Weapon input, but one problem is that I Aced about 10 months ago, and my level 7 reward blaster has since disappeared. I need to get my hands on another one. :/

Looks good. Pretty much standard equipment on any ship. Only way I can imagine doing better is finding one of those 850 mass loot engines with comparable generation.

Shield : L8 RE project based on the L8 reward. Should get over 2500 hp back/front. Going for about 29k mass and 2300 drain.

Pretty nice drain, but please don't RE it, yet. You shouldn't have too hard a time finding a reactor that should RE under 25k mass... Hell, if you were on Eclipse, I've gottwo or threethat would fit the bill that I'd be willing to sell.

Capacitor: L2 RE project. Already did this one. 1000 energy, 38.5 regen, 1100 drain, 1800 mass

Not bad. Though keep an eye on your level 2 caps in the future if you are ever farming low level spawns. You could probably shave off around 200 drain and 600 mass without too much trouble.

DI: One of my yummy pre-nerf crafted DI's. 430 mass, 470 drain, 12.1 speed. Yay!

Holy <bleep>.

You'll at least be competitive with this. The only thing out there that will be able to turn circles around you easily will be something like a heavy starter or a vaksai with a level 10 engine... Though you are giving a serious edge in turn fights to the jsfs with qids.

Weapons: Two L6 RE guns. Drain oneach will be around 2000 and mass around 9000. One is almost done. Looking at damage around 1800-2500 and eff. ratings around .650 or so.

Looks good. I'm personally trying for lower drain on my L6es, but am not having very good luck right now in that regard.

Booster: L4 RE I did last night. Based on the Reward booster, got it down to 450 drain, 3100 mass. 14s burn time at about 28 speed.

Personally, I go with level 2 boosters. I fly fast and reckless and don't run from anything, though, even when I know I should. Also, if you downgrade the booster and shave an extra 4k off your shield, you can cram in a IR2 launcher to make people sweat in pvp.

Am I offbase here? Anyone see somewhere I can do better?

Just be sure to get out your shoehorn and cram in some armor if you have any mass left over.

I'd be happy to get owned in an a-wing or an advanced in deepspace, these days. Not much in the way of non-rotw options for a freelance pilot these days, though.

definately go with a protecto and a level 8 engine. also, don't skimp on the booster. the tie advanced is a 1.0 speed ship and with engine overload 4 you'll turn almost optimally while boosting. with a 100+ speed engine and a boost hitting somewhere in the 1700s i bet..... do the math.

I do have a L2 Cap that has about 1300 mass and 620 drain. I'm looking for one with 1050+ energy to mate it with, but no luck so far. Also, when I do make this one it'll almost definitely have a lower regen rating. Not sure how much difference it'll make.

I'm real hesitant to drop the booster, but even though I love this booster I may swap it for a crafted Mk1 with 9-10 second burn. It'd make me sad though, cause the one I have now burns over 14 seconds.

Like your weapon ideas. I was trying to figure out what to do about an Ord launcher. It can fit a Mark II Proton for PvE, but that'd be useless in PvP. I don't really use missiles in PvP though... but you did remind me I need a chaff launcher.

drop your squad and ace a different imperial one, 2x XP per kill second time around, and you get all the sweet reward parts a second time. Trust someone who has done this, the second, third and fourth times go super quick...I have aced all 9 squads, so I have tons of reward parts to RE

i went from a l6 engine like yours but with 73 yaw and 72pitch to this l8 i have now and it made a huge differnce. before i was strugling to keep up with my target in a turn fight, and rarely got a clean shot.

the engine you have now is great, theres no doubt about it, i would just keep an eye out for good l8 engines with the plan of eventualy upgrading.

it also depends on the kind of oppoisition you are facing on your server. on starsider i need every last ounce of pyr or i just cant compete. if your server is full of JSF pilots pakcing craftedmkIVs and using eo3, you should have no problem making them look like the fools they are with a simple l6 prenerf.

EDIT: ohh and the1k energy on your capis a moot point since it wont recharge fast enough to fill up before your beauty of a D.I. lets your shunt agian.

I'm actually thinking of Aceing a privateer squad first so I can get another Borstel. Then when I go to a different Imp squad I get an even bigger exp bonus.

I'll likely just master an Imp squad with my alt CorSec pilot to get the gun faster.

Or do both and get 2 guns.

if you havent yet do the CPI quests leading up to the imperial guard interceptor and see if you get a nice ion pulse l7 gun. ive seen them break 3100 but have never got one that high myself.
