Thread: need help What parts should i put on a Tie Intercepter ?
LOL. don't you love being IMP. The REBS do not understand why Imps like the JSF. I can actully put armor in it if I put small enough guns in it. or go with the normal no armor for the bigger bang. We love the fact we can but 2 guns and have 90k max weight. I guess their hvy x-wing with 180k max weight and 3 guns is not enought for them.
LOL

Erm. One word for you mister. A-WING. 66K mass tops. Read my thread about what I(and others)squeezed into mine
Stock parts that will make loading out just about any ship waaaay easy for you:
- Level 2 reactor max - for an interceptor find a level 1 crafted under 1k mass, look for around 11k regen. Or as close to those figures as you can get.
- Level 2 cap with 30ish recharge is all you'll ever need, short of some three gun ships and POBs.
- Max Level 2 booster
Other stuff ship specific:
- Under 1k for chaff launcher if you PvP
- Level 6ish engine, crafted will do you fine
- Level 7ish gun
- Crafted...um, 6 or 7 shield, I forget which
Fill out the rest with armor, and you have a pretty decent rig. I love this ship! Make sure you're running droid programs...
MK II reactor for EO4
L2 RE'd capacitor
L1 DI
MK I armor F/B
MK III or MKI IV shield (i forget)
L6 Engine
L7 gun
MK II booster
Chaff
And i think even at one point i hand an IR2 in it.
All shoehorned into a 50.5K mass chassis.

True. At lease you have the choose to ride the rocket of death. For the Imps the newbees get to learn this lesson early. Only the "real" (?) reb pilots get to experance the fun of a Nantucket sled ride , after playing the game a while.
But the A-wing Pilots do know what it is to be an IMP.
Engine+ gun= loads of fun
LOL

That's pretty close to what I used when I did the Imp squadrons, minus the chaff launcher. I used my TIE Interceptor all the way to master, including the corvette, three times. It's a pretty capable ship, actually, if you use your head while outfitting it.
When assembling a ship from scratch, for a newer pilot without a lot of very good looted parts, always start with crafted parts, fitting them to the role of the ship.
The TIE Interceptor is a light weight, fast, full-throttle maneuvering ship with light firepower. Start with this and work your way into replacing with better looted components:
MK1 Fusion Reactor
MK4 Starfighter Engine
MK2 Booster
MK2 Capacitor
MK3 Shield
MK4 Blaster (green)
MK4 Droid Interface
All of this will fit into an Interceptor and best fit it's role. High speed, light defense, a good solid weapon. For starters get an engine crafted for speed. An MK4 will run a little over 100 engine speed. Get a booster crafted for Energy Consumption and Total Energy, with an overdriver. Speed near 30 with a 14 second burn. For the capacitor, your own preference over one crafted for recharge (around 40 recharge/ 650 energy) or for shield shunting (my own preference, 30 recharge, 1100 energy). MK3 shield is all you ever need in a starfighter (excluding bombers). MK4 Blaster with about 2700 or so max and under .3 refire, green because you're a good Imperial. MK4 droid interface will give you about a 15.5 droid command speed, which is decent. Run Reactor Overload 3, Weapon Overload 3, Engine Overload 3, and Capacitor Overcharge 4. Keep Capacitor to Shield Shunt 4 on standby. Fly at full throttle and fly for avoidance. Lots of rolls, loops, and juking. Your ship is well suited to that by the nature of the chassis. When you maneuver behind your target, match speed and open fire.
As you collect loot parts, begin looking into reverse engineering a level 8 engine and possibly a good level 7 gun. At this point you may need a little grease and a shoehorn to get a level 8 engine in there (running about 5-6k heavier in mass than the crafted MK4), but you can potentially save about 1k mass or so on switching to a good REd level 7 gun. You might be able to further get away with an MK1 capacitor and save another 4-5k mass.
Outfitting Imperial ships is not easy, but you learn a lot about component mass management, and a lot about raw piloting ability. Once you get to the TIE Advanced, you'll like it a lot if you like the Interceptor. Similar performance with about 15k more mass and an extra weapon slot. Or you could choose the quick and easy path, as Vader did, and just go with an Actis and save yourself a lot of headache ![]()

And beside, Imps get the RG TIE and JSF now and yeh, yeh Rebs can get the JSF as well as the GSF..in fact anyone can but thepoint is, the 'Us Imps have a hrd time squeezing things into anything' isobsolete. I mean...as well as tis, look at heavy starterships. The arguement is just not valid anymore.
However, standard TIE Interceptors are hard core and anyone flying one in pvp these days = hardcore in my book.

For the Imperial Squadrons I've done, I've always just stuck with the TIE/In for basic anti-fighter missions, and the TIE Bomber for the heavier missions involving gunboats and Novas. Once I get the cert for the TIE Advanced, that's pretty much all I use from there till the end (and after).
But the Interceptor IS a nice ship, no question there.
