Thread: A Message to All Pilots: Get Crafted Components!

I, being the leader of a JTL oriented guild, have always been pretty big on space. I have become a pretty good pilot- not a vette killing machine (not yet at elast), but a pretty good pirate nonetheless. However, there is one place I have failed in and only recently haver ealized- components.

I, liek many pilots, would always check to see if there was any good loot in my inventory/lootbox after a space outing. I would use any items that beat my current set up, then dump the rest on the chassis dealer to make a few bucks. However, while there is every once in a while an exceptional piece of loot and it is therefore still necessary to check your components, I have found that looted pieces are truly, blatantly terrible compared to crafted.

Take my booster for instance. I had in on my Krayt gunship, which I had nearly maxed out mass wise. Teh booster ahd a good amount of energy, soeed and also a good amount of mass. But after I accidentaly deleted the gunboat and had to start over with components, I found a MarkI Booster with just over 1k mass, same speed, and about a 7-8 second burn time. It was great- and if you want a longer burn or higher speed, you can always go up the Marks and still get the great low mass on them.

Ibegan to buycrafted items from dedicated shipwrights everywhere (with the exception of a droid interface- I have foudn the looted ones usually will suffice), and soon enough I was looking at more mass on my Krayt then I could use. However, I did find a way to use it. A 118 speed engine plus four 3.7k weapons on it maxamize it's preformance, and I am no long afraid to use my two overload 4 programs, reactor and capacitator, because hey, it's just a few Mark I pieces and I can get them over again after all.

This, I hope, will lead to me reaching my goal of developing a heavy gunboat designed to, you guessed it, blast away every vette in deepspace. Once I have finished working on my Krayt and worked my bank account up again (spent 1 million on a rather frivolous pleasure, and then buyingall the components left me with only 500k), I look forward to maxamizing my YT1300's configuration, which I plan to develop into, you guessed it, a vette killing gunboat blasting fighter decintegrating machine. And it's all because of crafted components.

So pilots, help yourself and the local shipwright out. Buy crafted components, and I promise you piloting experiance will take a drastin turn for the better.

Loot components first truly come in to thair own when they are Re-Engineered. The difference can be amazing.
I have recently been dropping all my component loot in a house, along with friend of mine. And I have been totally converted on the issue of RE weapons vs. crafted ones. I use to use crafted components for everything, and still do for most while I and getting the RE parts I need.

Crafted components are better then just loot, and can be made to beat any loot item on any one point. But doing so they fall behind in other arrears. With REing I can get over all better stats, then the one super stat crafted item.

Being a SW, I get to craft my own components. I've been doing a lot of compairing of parts,RE and crafted, and so far, in the early tiers, my crafted parts have been a lot better. It's especially nice having the new heavy shipvarients, because I can totally ignore mass when making my parts. This will only work with the first few levels though, but I'm looking forward to seeing what I can make compaired to my looted parts later on. I have about 500 parts ready to be RE and many more on the way.
Basically, crafted parts are great at low levels, but RE parts are what you need in the higher tiers.

Hehe, one step ata time folks. I am still getting to knwo the crafetd oarts. Plus I can't ever know what part is REd as I have never bought one. What categpry are they under in the vendor search? Are they naemd Mark I-V like crafted parts or what?

I don't think you can tell the difference between a crafted part and a RE part after it has been REd. The only thing would be looking at the stats. Can usually tell if something just seems too good on that part.

RE'ed parts have no "Reverse Engineering Level".

Re'd parts don't have a "creator" section I believe.

Look at the "Variation Of:" line in the top of the item detail in the examine window. If it says "Advanced Blaster" or "Mark IV Shield", it is crafted. If it says "Sienar Systems super-duper blastomatic" or "Kuat Systems Big Shield" or the like, it is REd.

If it looks like loot and has an "RE Level" category, it has not been REd. If it has no RE level, it has already been REd and the SW did not rename it.

The pre-nerf droid interfaces are much better than crafted. The newer loot droid interfaces are significantly slower than high quality crafted, at least every one I loot is. I use my 15 speed 500 mass level 1 droid interfaces on my ships. I build ~18 speed ~2700 mass ones for my customers when doing entire ship loadouts.

About your Mark I booster, with good materials, a SW can craft a 1050 mass one that is 26 speed for 15 seconds, 31 speed for 10 seconds. Sounds like the SW who made yours did not experiment on consumption, that is why you only have 7 seconds.

I find the largest crafted advantage to be in weapons. I find most looted weapons to range in .450-.350. I craft all my weapons to refire rates well under .28. I can easily reach .26 on mark 5 weps. Also gotta love the capacitor and engine upgrades. I crafted a fast mark 5 engine for my Adv. X-wing. I can now blow pre-nerf reward engines out of the water. My only problem is the huge engergy drain on the crafted engines compared to the RE engines. I plan to use a fully craft outfitted heavy Z95 when I start another squadron.

You don't need a heavy boat to be a vette killer, try out one of the new reward ships with a nice engine and your speed will make you untouchable. It also helps to have a lvl 10 RE'd blaster that does 4800 damage with over .750 vs shields and Armor. I quite enjoy my lvl 8 RE'd shield as well which boasts 2500 F&R with a 16.79 recharge. I haven't done much crafting as a SW but the only thing I would look at right now are the new engines.

On Sunrunner I rename all my RE'd parts...I use a name like....

SC-Engine Mk IV

The SC being "Solar Coven" our Guild/Corporation name, then the Engine (or Component) then the
skill level required to use the component.

I use SC-? because if you don't put the - in there, after you equip it into your ship you might just see SC so
you won't know what component it is other than by icon....took a bit of experimenting with the names as they don't
like numbers and special characters.

I've never had anything RE'd, but I do use almost exclusively crafted components. Are crafted components usable in the reverse engineering process?
