Thread: Whats the max speed on a QID?

All I can say is 73.4 pre-RE on any PYR won't be enough for a 1.4 mod.

A friend of mine and I are/have been doing some testing using REed and unREed components. We've locked down the 1.3 mod trigger at around 71.7/71.8 (71.8 is confirmed, 71.7 we couldn't test - because we didn't HAVE one), and the 1.4 is SOMEWHERE between 77.1 and 77.8 (quite possibly AT 77.8, if the separation between values is 6.0).

77.8 *IS* confirmed (by the two of us) as a 1.4 mod, though. You need 74.1 minimum pre-RE to achieve it.

Oh yeah, as for speed, I have a 103.2 pre-RE, and I've seen people bragging about 11x.x specimens, but for some reason their ability to post screenshots is sorely lacking.

You guys and your turning mods. I still say they're meaningless except as a rough display of a more precise underlying number.

Tomo, this said friend of mine strapped an L10 with an 82.8 yaw mod onto his RGI (just to see what it'd be like), and he said the turn was so tight that in the farthest third person view the ship actually left the periphery of his screen.

So yeah, I think the mods count. BTW, welcome back. We need you to exterminate some idiots.

Oh yeah, and my current lowest mass on an L8 engine is 23373.3.

Plus I've got a rather sizable bounty up on the Eclipse Trade Forums. If there's a pre-nerf L8 on the server, I want to know and have a shot at buying it before I blow loot on a 103.2 when I could possibly score better.

Well, maybe I'm misreading what you all are saying, but it sounds like there's no effective difference between an engine with 76 pitch and one with 73, since they'll both show a pitch mod of 1.3. I would contend that number doesn't really mean anything and is just a rough estimate rounded off; really, I think, the 76 pitch would have, say, a 1.38 mod, whereas the 73 has a 1.33 or whatever. The 76 would still outturn the 73 even though the display's saying they've both got a 1.3 mod, but that 1.3 is just an arbitrary number that doesn't in itself affect anything.

And yeah, there've been some fun new threads, heh.

But.. but.. it was kind of business related, too! And I had to drive across lots of desert without AC! And I just wrote a couple posts in what'll eventually be a POB treatise for a corr forum discussion I'm gonna toss up here in a minute to see what you all think!

Well, with what I've seen (or not seen) dropping these days, I'd definitely say that 3.5 million is more than fair for a 96.6 engine. I'd do it as well. Just can't seem to get high speed engines these days... I finally just RE'd my lvl 10s with a 90.6 because that's the best post-CU dropping engine I've found speed wise.

My QID is 106.9 top speed, pre-RE (post RE it will be 112.2 or 112.3, depending if the system rounds up or down).

Was offered 50 million for it too, don't think I'm going to take it though.

My only problem is that I've got crap for Y/P/R on other engines of the same RE level, meaning I've still got to do a lot of hunting to get engines with top-quality values, since I don't want anything except the best, no point wasting my QID and doing an only half-decent RE.
