I hate the TIE fighters, but I am very sincere about my participation in the GWM on the side of the Imps, so I am forced to wonder if as an Imperial officer and a neutral pilot I would be able to participate in spatial PvP?
Could I, oh joy of joys, be able to blow bloody Rebs out of the void in my suped-up Kimogila?

As long as you're Imperial on the ground, you can declare and PVP in any sector in space. Only trick will be outfitting one of those privateer ships to handle the task.

LOL! They take the same stuff all the other ships do, right? Just a matter of getting the right gear, is all. :-)

Yep.. that's what I am. Let me tell ya, a Krayt loaded with Imperial / Neutral droid commands packs one heck of a punch. I usually go to one of the Imperial Stations in Endor and declare Imperial, now it doesn't matter if I accidentally hit a few TIEs: they take no damage from me.

The option is definately there but fighting in PvP definately is harder for privateers due to the huge profile of nearly all privateer ships. Imperials have it easier there.
However, As i have seen even firsprays work out in PvP in the hands of a good pilot you should be able to maybe use a krayt effectively if you have some great components for it
For large ships you should rather go for good defense and not /that/ high damage output anyways.

You just made me realize.... RotW is actually a possible alleviation of that perennial Freelance problem of 'my ship is the size of a barn, while that stupid A-Wing/Advanced is smaller than my &^%$!'
Depending on mass allocation and handling, there will probably be more Freelancers in the expansion's expansion ships than Imps and Rebs in them.

Hmmm... quite a few of the new ships seem to be overworked versions of the old ones... i.e. X-Wing, Z95, Tie Inteceptor, etc
Rebels and Imperials will mostly welcome better versions of their old ships while privateer hopefully get some alternatives
All I hope is that there won't be any overpowered fighters in the expansions... Kinda hard to see now what the jedi starfighter will be for a type of ship. After all it is quite old by now while the other ships were developed for the heat of the civil war.
But unfortunately this is a problem since Episode 1... so much new "old" stuff that is suddenly better than the old "new" stuff (for example double bladed lightsabers being better than twin sabers).

The Imps may be more inclined to flock to the Crimson Squints, while the Rebs might take advantage of the heavy X (or a new, nimble heavy Z). While it is my understanding that everyone gets certs for the ARC, Jedi, and Grevious', it seems those might (if scaled properly in mass, handling, and sprite size) be of more use to Freelancers than the other factions.
Anyway, there is no problem with a Freelancers also being an Imperial (you might go RSF for the best cohesion). The only limitation right now is the Freelance afer-Deep-Space-overt-in-Kessel bug and the fact that Freelancers can not gain Faction Points in Deep Space.

I take that to mean that factioned pilots can get faction points in space?

Yes. If you belong to a ground faction, you will simply need to go to one of your side's Faction Space Stations and have a short chat with them. You will be given the option to go 'Overt,' which is a space flag and has nothing to do with your ground status. Overt pilots gain FP for killing opposite Factino NPCs in any space sector.
I mentioned it because there is no way for a Freelance pilot to go Overt for either side and then gain entry into Deep Space. All other combinations do work, though.

We'll see how a Kihraxz can do in PvP this weekend. Yeah, it's kinda big, but it can move; it's size will only be a problem if someone can hit it first, hehe.

what does this mean? My RSF friends can't fight alongside me (imp) in deep space?

They can get to Deep Space just fine, but they can't already be declared when they do so, which means they won't be able to gain FP out there. Trying to get word as to whether that's working as intended, by the way.
