Thread: Question to Master Pilots

Hey, I'm basically dropping almost all of my combat skills for the CU because I can't stand the new combat. So I switched over to pilot (now 1-1-1-1 doing the missions for training, blah blah) and I realized I made 70-90k.. and I wasn't even doing it for money!

So basically my question to you guys, master pilots in general, do you make decent money? I'm only crafting for "fun" and if this pilot gig pays decent credits I might consider full time land crafting and all my combat in air.

I make all my money these days in the sky. Some say that the ground is still more profitable, but I have FAR more fun flying than I do on the ground.

You can make decent cash on the mission payments alone, let alone the loot. Just be sure to go up there with an empty inventory because you'll learn to hate "Inventory is full" type messages!

EDIT: Let me also add that piloting can be a quick "log in for a few minutes before work" type game. You don't have to pay for buffs, wait for buffs, get a solo group, etc. Between the money you save on buffs and armor (since you can loot your new components) and the time you save, I would say that piloting is a good alternative.

Me and my guys do missions out of yavin 4 and rori for money. We unload everything out of our inventory so we can fit more parts. By the end of an 1h 30m duty mission I can get up to 250 - 300k depending on the level of ship parts I get. I would have to say its much easier grinding in space than on the ground. The yavin missions only give you tier 2 and 3 ships. With the proper equipment they will barely scratch your shields. And 2 hit kills are great.

Thanks guys, and from what I can see the pilot community seems like a much more civilized group then the ground. =)

That's because you haven't gotten to know use yet. You'll learn.

That's cause it takes skill!

In all seriousness though, you get a better crowd here because people can't hide behind their stats. If you want to template and defence stack, you can't do it in JtL.

I used to play an MMO called Puzzle Pirates. As the name implied, you did mini-game type puzzles to earn experience, skills, etc. Because it actually required skills to earn your keep, I found that the community there was much nicer in general.

I hope you enjoy your time as a pilot. It's a great addition to SWG.

pilot is easily one of the best ways to make money. even keeping the best parts out of a tier 4 destroy duty i clear 250k per duty mission.

Pilot is most likely one of the best ways to make money in the game imho. The ground game is alright, it's just it can be buggy and as a ranged BH, this game at times was not made with Ranged in mind. As I said in another post I can make a good 100k in 45 mins of work, and that's really not that bad. And well, I do enjoy seeing ships blow up more then watching something fall over and die as someone spams "lol ranged bh sux lol u sux noob."

Note, in space the dood that said that was my first pvp kill.

Until you hit master pilot you might loose some money though as new chassis can be expensive, depending on the server of course.

After you hit master though you have a solid cash flow though as you don't need that great equipment to get some cash and you will be able to improve your ship along the way too... you literally have almost no expenses

...and let's not forget that RoTW is adding in asteroid mining, so there will be yet another way to make money in space. Strangely enough, they seem to be treating space loot entirely differently than ground loot.

I end up destroying ground loot b/c I don't have my own vendor and max out my bazaar limit constantly. Space loot (and space resources) will both have places for us to off-load for cash. I like it! Sure, I'd rather sell to a player, but if no one wants it I can still getcash for my efforts.
