makes sense to me...

Could be fun... but we would need to balance it with crackdown squads in space... and the GCW... Wait you might be on to something here!

Though dont be suprised if you get a little roasted you see how pilots treat jedi and ground proffesions in general... *offers burn cream*

Please don't compare smugglers to jedi. Just because both are ground professions doesn't mean they are anything alike.

And its a good idea....a great new feature...oh wait...

"New features will be moved out to a longer term implementation"

So since smugglers have been waiting 2 years already for new features...and they're moving that to a LONGER term implementation, that means at least three or more years from now. Maybe. If we take the FS luck branch.

I like the idea... and smugglers are not spoiled like jedi... not even close... but it seems taboo to ask that any ground prof. or content be tied to JTL... I bet there are still people grumbling about the Starmap quest requireing walking.

I would like to see smuggles play a larger game role in general... maybe as big as bounty hunters if not bigger... smuggling/slicing in space would bring other positive elements to bring space alive... like inspections and being chased by a wing of TIEs if you run...

The ground system is completly different to JTL, slicing components could be idea, but it would never work. Some of my RE'd components are allready insanely powerfull, adding a slice to them would just be cruel.

No, Shipwrights already perform a type of slicing in the form of Reverse Engineering. If they did allow Smuggler enhancements, they'd need to keep it to craftables only, otherwise these stupendously powerful RE components you hear about are only going to become more ridiculous.

No. Pilots have this process called reverse engineering.

I don't think they should be able to. As a former smuggler myself, I liked slicing weapons. But, there is a huge difference between what a gunsmith can do, and working on high end weapons for starships. This is clearly shipwright territory.

Well...think about this....like it was posted above craftables only...the smuggler could improve like shielding armor, and weapons just like they do on ground...and since smugglers need loot from space for slicing itd make sense for them to be able to slice space components...but only on craftables cuz yeah if they could slice REd stuff.....wow im not gonna say im some vet pilot or nething cuz im not....actually ive just got into space like....a week ago and i gotta say its way better than ground...but neways slicing crafted components could b a good idea...they could make armor more effective same thing with shield...shield recharge...etc with weapons improve dmg, but i dont think they should b able to lower mass...just cuz they cant lower SAC either

Actualy I think for certain components they would ONLY be able to affect mass. Armor would be one. Can't make it better, but they can cut it do in mass so it is as effective but is lighter.

Definatly only on crafted components ONLY. Also requiring loot drops would make it more fun also.

Off the top of my head:
Armor -> Mass only

Boster -> Acceleration and energy cunsumtion (booster energy)

Cargo hold -> Cargo space ( woulld really love to see this and it makes sense for a smuggler to have a larger hold then what would normaly be on a fighter or ship )

Capacitors -> Energy regen and capacitor energy

Droid Interfaces -> Droid speed and mass

Engines -> Speed ( leave YPR as only affected by the crafter, to keep semi balanced with REed)

Reactors -> Energy generation

Shields -> Regen or shield points total ( since the f/b balance upon landing )

Weapon, Direct fire -> Rate of fire and damage

Weapon, Missles -> Rate of fire

For all parts that use energy from teh reactor also allow slicing of the reactor energy consumtion.

This should be at most a 10% increase at master smuggler. Let a novice slice for at most 2%, adding 2% tot eh amx at each level 4 box in smuggler and then 2% mroe at master. Would only let the master smugglers have a shot at the best slices.

It should be done on POB ships as a temporary buff only. It would be like running an overload program, the smuggler fiddles with a component which causes damage but increases performance. When you land/repair all the bonus disappears. Basically I would see it as a POB buff.

I don't like the idea of slicing regular fighter components because in the end what it comes down to is everyone will have sliced components and fighters will become even more powerful than they are now. That throws off what balance we do have..

It was mentioned in the now deleted "In concept" thread, that Smugglers would be able to slice either POB components or just ship components in general. (Can't check since the thread has been, well...deleted)

There wasn't much said about it officially though, no methods or types, or even percentages.
