i have done storm squadran before but it is now near impossible to finish. i am stuck at 2222. there are 5 different missions that you must complete. the last is by far the worst in which you must pass through waves upon waves of a wings. not to mention that everytime you do an escort it takes you through about 5 deathwatch ships. the mission needs to be seriously addressed

I guess I'll have to try out this stormsquadron someday. It sounds nasty. I just made a rebel pilot on Farstar, and so far 4334 I've soloed it all. Even mission I've helped my guildies with on Ahazi... Now, when people ask me for help on a mission, I usually tell them to spend 200-300K on their ship and then try again

Rebels Red Circle/Founders of Danevang
Jedi are seriously underpowered. They need a snare, invisibility, a ranged nuclear attack and a flying mount that farts fire

If its a delivery mission, just hyper to a different quadrant in the same sector a couple of times.

Now impossible? Or did you mean "nearly impossible"?

Did something about storm squadron change since JTL was first released? (In other words, why is it impossible now, as opposed to when you did it previously?)

If anything Storm Squadron is easier post-RoTW because of the TIE heavy.

Previously, Tier 3 had to be done with a measley 40k mass TIE/In or 50k mass TIE Interceptor... and yet, it still wasn't impossible.

Like ducimus said, you can jump to another sector to escape, travel or even repair for almost all the tier 3 missions. Also, set your radar to 2km and adjust your travel route when a red blip shows up. (This also helps when heading to a waypoint that you know will spawn fighters. Adjust the direction at which you approach it, so you don't bring strays into the fight)

And of course, a wingman always helps..
(I know, it's tough finding other pilots willing to sit through those long SS missions - but other Storm Squadron aces, if you can find them, are usually willing to help out)

It's not impossible. I just finished soloing it (entire squadron, took about 3 days with the double xp). the trick is a good ship with good parts. Then again I'm now a 3x Master Pilot.

There are parts in the mission where you can hyperspace away, the ships follow but they sit for a min allowing you time to recharge. And there are other times when you can run to the station for repairs. the trick is to find those times.

On that last part with the waves of awings. you can dock and once complete, the mission is over.

Lastly, find some pilot friends. even a single 1111 pilot can be extremely helpful since he/she can draw off the fighters or attack them when they target you.

Good luck buddy

PS. if you think this missions hard, wait till you do the next two.

I want to throw in my 2 cents, I prefer the Tie Interceptor over Standard type Ties for taking out A-wings, the gun pattern is much better for A-wings, were I feel the normal Tie you have to be VERY accurate whiletrying to shoot A-wings, you don't need to be as accurate with the Interceptor. Of couse this all depends on if you have the Tie Interceptor.

I prefer the regular TIE's as the guns are more centered, whenever I switch to the Interceptor I always have a bit of a readjusment to make as I'll shoot at an A-wing and all 4 bolts will miss an A-wing, 2 on each side usually. I guess just personal preference on that one.

As for the waves of A-wings, make sure you are running the fastest engine you can fit, and boost everychance you get before they start coming. Once they do, if you can't destroy them fast enough. just target engine and disable. When I did this I was running engine overload 2 and weapon overload 3. I only had about 3 waves total to go against as I made the best use of my time to get to the WP as fast as I could.

I also have 4 Aces to my credit on other servers, so I've had a bit of practice against A-wings. It just takes a learned technique and throttle control is your friend vs. A-wings. On my main server I practice on teir-5 droid fighters in my Bellbullab-22, they make tier 3 Awings looks like lethargic hutts by comparison.

When an Awing comes at you slow down to turn and when you get behind him hit the throttle again, or match speed.

AI A-wings use alot of throttle also, I always have a problem running into the back of them while they are turning. So, stay back a little, and try to hit them from the top side, as they are turning.

Have to agree with the majority of posters here. Storm squadron is not impossible. I also managed the Awings with a light TIE. Just got to know how to kit your ship out.
