Thread: Black Sun Helmet......question
There is a great post by Psikobunny on this topic in the FAQ.
Really, it just depends on your faction:
Imp - you are basically out of luck when it comes to duty missions, so the Black Sun Spawn near the Red Sin Chimera hyperpoint is probably your best bet. There is also one using a Kashyyyk quest, but I'm not familiar with the specifics. The specifics are in the FAQ post, I believe.
Freelance - Diness Imler, in Theed Palace will hand out a tier 4 BS duty mission.
Rebel - Can't remember the guy's name, but he is a Rebel pilot trainer in the hotel, on Lok.
Basically, you need to kill tier 4 and 5 Black Sun's to have a chance at a helmet drop.
Be prepared to kill lots...and lots of them before you get a helmet, although you could get lucky and get it rather quickly.

Imps get the short end of the Stick, there is a Spawn (i think) near Red Sin Chimaera Hyper point in Endor, Folk have said they also spawn in Kessel instead of the Pirates, but ive never seen them myself.
Be prepared for a long wait for it, its like a 1 in 1000-2000 drop, and even then its not every thousand you kill.
There's a quest alluded to in a previous post of a kash quest. it's in the hunting grounds but starts at the tree in kachiro with "mada"(I think that's spelling) you will get to point that your doing delivery's for an NPC in NW hunting ground slat addict place.
DO NOT complete 2nd leg it is persistant tier 4 waves of 4 til you reach rendezvous(never get there) of various skins
yes its possible to FINISH a duty mission.
I did the destroy duty mission given by the RSF trainer in theed palace.
all i Got was some multiple waves of tier 1 black sun ships!
is this what i am supposed to kill to get the helmet?

i've completed dozens of Tier 4 BS duty missions (when i don't travel for business, i have a lot of time on my hands 
) and killed probably well over 1500 BS fighters...probably more then that.
never gotten a helmet. i've heard of people who have blowed up 2k or more and not gotten it.

I got a helmet as a corsec pilot at 1101 or there about off a Tier 2 BS. Being corsec I have seen 1000's of BS and that is the only helmet.

I just got my helm about a month ago . After 101 mill master exp (mostly from bs) and 7 months .. i got it .. so yeah it can take you 20,000 or more tier 4 or 5 bs kills to get one or you can get 2 in your first 2 mins of your first duty

mm.. this souns like you're suggesting that only tier 5 black suns have a chance of dropping the black sun ace helmet - I thought the consensus of opinion was that tier 4 and 5 black suns had a chance? unless I'm mistaken, this would mean that every Imperial pilot who has ever 'camped' the black sun static spawn was wasting his time?
by all means correct me if I'm wrong, just going off what I've heard
