i looted a lvl 8 gun with 3820 max damage... boy was i happy to find something higher than the lvl 8 reward gun lol. i did the math, and this baby will RE out to 4049.something max damage, so...

i really want to make this an uber gun. what should i expect to get on the mass before i RE it? i dont wanna use my 26k mass gun on this RE if i can get it lower than that. can i?

The only L8 I know of that has the capacity to beat the Borstel/Incom is the Vengeance Ion Cannon. As for mass anything ~25.5 or lower.

25.5k sounds a little more manageable... ive never been so lucky as to loot anything as uber as a 23k mass would be -_-

heres a screeny of the gun itself

I don't think you quite know what you have here. A generally looted part...which bests the reward blaster.

It throws the entire goddamned L8 (and L7) weapon category on its ear - the rewards were supposed to be the de-facto bests of their respective categories, with the ROTW rewards occasionally offering better ratings through the dynamic reward system.

This essentially means the caps are lifted - even if for exceptional drops, or even just for weapons. Or they never existed at all and it's theoretically possible to best even the reward shield in hp in the L8 category.

God only knows, based on how much loot gets goddamned WASTED every day without people so much as taking a LOOK at it.

yeah, it bothers me when i hear about guildies with hundreds of thousands of parts sold to the chassis dealer w/o a glance

this is, to say the least, the single-best component i have ever looted. always, the stuff i considered a good loot were scoffed at by the more lucky of pilots (with alot more time on their hands to loot i might add lol) so having this gun makes me pretty happy

but im pretty sure ive heard of this happening in the past, not just a recent thing. but then again, my pretty sure's are almost always wrong -_-

btw, ur on my server, help me uberfy this mofo

Of course, what bothers me furthermore is that this part is in the hands of a Rebel on my own server.

Most of top-shelf parts are locked down until Phoenix is ready for prime-time. And I'm not getting rid of ANYTHING until I table them all in Excel so I know what in the Hell I have and what I can sell/trade.

Sounds great to me. I'm getting tired of being the only rebel person with a pvp-worthy ship in deep space, these days. Well, except for my regular sparring partner in the heavy TIE... Though he is standing by his keyboard/mouse setup which appears to be hurting his game a bit.

I hope pub 24 gets here soon. I need experience against better pilots if I'm going to improve my game. My crummy (and old--I think its RE date may predate the Hoar Chall nerf by a couple days)74/72/77 108 engine, for some reason, seems to be the most maneuverable thing in Eclipse deepspace, which is sad.

As for stats and the implications of this gun: I've always been pretty much convinced that there are no hard caps item stats. This seems to confirm that theory... Someday some independant party is going to have to collect 30 of each item and see what statistical distribution the item stats tend to conform to.

well, i can tell you i have looted far more than 30, or 300 lvl 8 guns before getting this one

and im sure theres pilots out there with insane amounts of time on their hands that might be able to say 3000 w/o seeing a gun this high on damage...

like the other dude said, the reward gun was supposed to bethe highest lol

btw... somebody HAS started something like that.. it was a website where ppl could input data on each different part (not by name, just whether it was reactor, engine, and whatlvl it was) to accomplish just that.

well, the best i can do in the engine department atm is 80 ypr 98 top speed, on a lvl 10... dont even OWN a lvl 8 RE yet, and lvl 6 RE is VERY VERY OLD.. around 70 ypr and 9k mass... my first ever RE component lol

It would have to be by name, as there is plenty of evidence that certain items have different distributions.

The most famous instance is the RCT-Z reactor, which pretty clearly (to me, at least) has a 'mean' value set somewhere very ordinary for level 8 engines, but has an extraordinarily high 'variance'--to the point that it will go higher than 40k generation and lower (I'm guessing) than zero (though all values generated lower than zero get set to zero).

This, of course, assumes that these are some kind of normal or gaussian distributions.

First off, I've been a KB/Mer since Day 1, and I've killed you...twice now? Kinda lost count.

Plus, you're not gonna have the most maneuverable engine in DS for long provided I get my hands on a 74.0 min pitch L8...plus if that's the engine you were using before, you were going up against a 1.2/1.3/1.2 L6 reward. Yours would probably be 1.3 across the board EXCEPT maybe for 1.4 in roll depending on the fraction of 77.

tbh, i stopped going to deep space. theres nothing left for me there anymore except to blow up the star destroyer when im bored. as a freelancer, i dont get FP for goin to deep space (oh well, i still got kessel lol) and the 2-3 hours i spend trolling there get me 1 fight with another player that ends in him boosting away and hypering out. its not worth it.
