Damn straight. Think I'm gonna stop counting now, it's less fun when you're worried about kill:death ratios than when you're just focused on sending any and all Rebels to an early grave.

I never started counting...so many dead TIEs, so little time...

Though right now you are *the* hardest kill on the Imp side.

Yeah, we need Naithan back not just for his pilot ability, but for his leadership. I finally did okay with our group today, but I'm not cut out for this command stuff. Was glad to see Harotak show up after our first battle though.

I need to get better with countermeasures, incidentally.. remapped my key today to make it easier and I kept pounding the wrong one, lol. You guys kept dinging me up till all my front armor was gone and my booster was out. Made it hard to run like a little coward when I ran into your flight there at the end

And I thought you were headed for us at our hyperpoint. I saw you and saw the numbers ticking down, so I grabbed the pilots who were loaded and went out to intercept you to make sure none of our loaders were killed. I died shortly after we got you to a barrage of missiles (again... /sigh).

EDIT: When my group was nearly on top of you, I realized you were heading for the frigate, not our group. By then I decided "to hell with it, engage!"

EDIT 2: On a side note, we were missing a good chunk of our core pilot group--Emort, Dash, and Pro. With those three pilots I think we would've shredded the Imperial group, but we were short on veteran PvPers on our side.

I did notice that alot of people seemed inexperienced, but it was a really good battle. I kept expecting Emort to be on my six in that x-wing of his. I really wish I knew how you can move around that much and still manage to hit people. Anyway, well fought and I look forward to doing it again.

I'm currently at 61, but that stems from the majority of overts in Eclipse either a) attacking the ISD, or b) farming in DS/Kessel. So I don't wanna KNOW what it'd convert to Starsider-wise, and I'm so used to my equipment that it'd take me a year to loot similar on SS.

lol, that was actually such a botch job on my part. I was trying to head to Deep Space to fix my ship up before you guys hit us with the last wave. Only problem is, I'd mastered Inquisition just last night and forgot to get any damn prestige points afterwards--so Claw Station wouldn't let me jump! I killed a few nearby spawns to try to rack up the 30K xp real quick, but then I saw it was so close to the end of the event and just said screw it and headed back.

Meanwhile, I'd given Resha some orders to deal with you all's standard "throw everything at us as soon as the no-return rule kicks in" strategy and take command till I returned. However, it so happened that these orders sent them away from the very spot I ended up at when you all engaged me.. thus, the orders I gave with the intent of screwing you guys up in the endgame resulted in my violent death at the hands of your missiles. (Resha seems to have done pretty good with that last battle, though.)

End result, I'm stopping counting with a 207:10 ratio instead of 207:9 (not counting my 3-3 record as a privateer back in December of course ) and yet another piece of evidence for how we need Naithan back in charge over here.

Was a pretty crazy event, though. We really only had me, Resha, and Ikooga as real vets (and Harotak showing up after the first battle, praise the lord), with about 4 guys with a week or three under their belts, and then the other 7-8 guys were completely green. But then I was noticing all kinds of new names on your side, too, and a strange stretch of time where your newer guys were coming at us in groups of 1-2 at a time instead of in waves.. in retrospect that looks like discipline problems, but at the time I was freaked out cause I thought you guys were trying out some crazy new tactics on us, lol.

Fun stuff, though. Reminded me a lot of how the early days were.

You know, I really don't know how to even go about thinking about what these numbers actually mean.. for instance, I've dropped 200 ships now, but probably 75-100 were assists where I just know I landed at least one hit in the kill. Furthermore, when we head up in these battles, they're like 20 vs 20, and while both sides have a fair number of vets, they usually have a lot of new pilots, too, who drop pretty fast and may inflate kill ratios. And then I've got a ton of great pilots flying next to me who take off a ton of the pressure with the deadliness they bring, which may get them as much or more attention than I receive.

Then on the other hand, with group battles, you can focus multiple pilots on a single target. I've been butchered lately at the end of these things by missile barrages, lol. Even the greatest of aces can't consistently survive if you train 5-10 pilots on him (or her.. Kitten ) at once.

Complicating things even further is the fact we actually build our strategy around keeping certain pilots alive while putting others in the highest-risk situations. So someone who dies a lot may very well be executing their orders with ruthless efficiency and contributing greatly while someone who hangs back for various reasons and never ends up dying may not be doing much of anything for the team.

All in all, those are the major reasons I decided to quit keeping score. At this point I know I'm pretty good, but there are still plenty of pilots who scare me to go up against. (Though it's two types of fear: there's the "Oh damn, this oughta be good!" kind, which I like, and then the "Oh damn, why's it gotta be _____ again?" which is really just a bummer. It's kind of a nervy anticipation vs. cold dread thing.) I don't really feel like I need to measure myself up against them anymore, though.. I dunno, maybe some of us long-time PVPers have so much experience with each other that it doesn't really matter if we die another time or three. Particularly when we're gonna be right up duking it out again next week.

I'm gonna trot out a cliche here, too: there's no "I" in "team," lol. Group PVP is most of what I participate in, so it isn't the numbers that matter, it's the conclusion. If me counting numbers is hurting that conclusion, it's time to give it up--and I can't see how they're doing any good. So out they go.

Incidentally, I don't really know why I'm jawing on about all this stuff. Definitely a little bit of bragging, heheh, but I guess I'm just thinking out loud about the way I think when it comes to group PVP, and how maybe it could be better.

The only pilots we had that had been tomore than2 or 3events previously on our side were like Gwreng (whom in his infinite logic and wisdom decided NOT to fly and instead dump all the new guys into MY group), Halyn, and myself. So it was like3 vets and 18 or so newbs on our side. I have no idea where everyone came from this round, but we need to give em some experience runs.

You just gave all your guys missles and said, "Here, shoot the actis' with these," didn't you?

lol.. honestly, I dunno. I hadn't seen most of our force before, but they came ready to fight. I just gave everyone a quick rundown of our general tactics before we scrambled and they executed orders amazingly well. I remember a couple times in various dogfights where I was off pursuing certain targets, then I'd go hunting for you or Halyn or a couple other guys I'd tagged as highly dangerous, only to find you were already gone, or your shields and systems had taken a beating and there were 2-3 guys there closing things up. Meanwhile, half my vets were dead practically out of the gates too. It was like no one was safe.

There was just a ton of dying up there today and not so much of the circles of death we've gotten used to. Way chaotic. My squad seemed like it was regrouping from casualties practically the entire hour. Definitely the best event in recent weeks, I think.

I can tell you for a fact that it was always the missiles that did me in. I only got hit with a laser once, and that was just a graze. (Well, after the barrage of missiles had knocked out my engine or reactor, then they'd get me with lasers.) During the one wave I swear you guys sicced half your group on me. Every which way I turned there were lasers firing on me.

Oh, Pace--it's just something you slowly learn to do, with lots and lots of deaths. Joken and I both paid for those lessons the hard way, as I'm sure Tomo did early on as well.

I need to get some of my pilots, like Abi, who just mastered, out in their fighters more. I might have to stage some practice events for my pilots...*and* I need some of these guys to get some missile launchers on their ships. (Myself included, actually.) There's a few pilots that really can't be dealt with without them.
