Thread: Possible to run all four Level 4 overloads in a non-POB?

I've been thinking about this lately, could you run all 4 overloads in a fighter? The Vaksai was on my mind because it has high mass and only uses 1 gun. You'd definitely need a Borstel RE for the weapon and probably the 20k+ level 8 reactors. Has anyone done this before?

I have an L7reactor that would let me do that, without even bothering to run RO4

Its possible, but mathematically, its not really worth it. The damage bonus for WO3 is x2, and I believe the damage bonus for WO4 is x2.5. The problem however is that WO4 will make your gun use ten times as much capacitor energy per shot, meaning you're going to need to use a much larger capacitor than normal. If yourun WO4 ona level 10 gun with an energy per shot of say 25, you're looking at around6 seconds to drain your cap, and that's with an uber RE'd level 10 cap. If you switch to an RE'd level 8 reward gun, which has an energy per shot of only 13.4, you'll get a lot more fire time, however a level 8 reward gun running WO4 will do less damage per shot than a decent RE'd level 10 gun running only WO3.

That had better be one spanking awesome reactor... I count myself lucky that I can run RO4, EO4, and CO4, with WO2 on my A-Wing, and that's a TIGHT arrangement.

I think anyone would consider themselves lucky if they had your A-wing. =P

Thanks, but don't let me fool you into a false sense of admiration. Taking down a good JSF pilot is a lot of work, and if they have a better plane, you can sit there in the loop and watch them out maneuver you in almost Matrixesque bullet-time fashion. That's about the time I bail on the circling and reset before they get the angle for a shot.

Maybe if I could ever get my hands on some good loot I could try this stuff myself. Maybe I am trying too hard, but on the other hand I don't want to waste the few good pieces I do have.

Sounds like aiming for WO4 is a waste of time though. I guess I should have done the math first instead of just assuming 200% was going to beat 150%.

The damage is nice, but the energy consumption kills you. More to the equation than meets the eye.

Pretty much adding the same that everyone else is saying. RO4, CO4, EO4 are quite doable, but stick to WO3. Doing it with WO4, especially in something with more then 1 weapon (missles included), will kill you. The loadout on my TIE Adv is the first set, ro4/co4/eo4/wo3. The cost/return ratio on WO4 just doesn't compare. Granted, *if* (big IF) they ever fix WO3, then it might be worth it. But that will send most of us back to the drawing boards. I would say the biggest part on that setup is the engine. Having sub 1500 drain is almost a must to use those in a smaller ship. Remeber, running EO4, every 100 drain is another 1k your reactor has to pump out.

And, if you are trying to squeeze it as tight as possible, always run WO3 before you try to run EO4. It will save a lot, espeically on something like my Opp with 5 guns total. (Yes, to the best of my knowledge, missles are effected by weapon overload, though it's based on rough testing)

Bleh, refuse to exploit WO3, I use WO2. Gets the same job done with maybe an extra shot required.

I prefer RO4, EO4, CO3, WO3, Css4, Emergency Shields Forward (for the pvp battles), Shield adjust rear light..... Symantics I guess.... :-P The reason I don't use CO4 in my A-wing is because I have a 39.7 Natural recharge rate. so with my 1 weapon I can never drain it, it always recharges at full blasting.

Yeah, but if you have CO4 going, you'll have more power for shunting.
