Thread: Idea Withdrawn
Having slept on it some more, my thought is, i think im dreaming about degree of organization within a faction that is simply not feasible to aquire, nor really neccessary. Unless giving some compelling reason, i think i might just let the idea go.
EDIT 2:
While the thought is certainly entertaning, examining RL scheduling in combination with above edit number 1 has lead me to withdraw this idea as being unfeasable for to accomplish. personnlly.
It is however more feasible to gohere
However, i leave the following incase someone else thinks they can make take the torch upon the idea.
Purpose A:
An organization that exists for the sole purpose of passing along information or communication to new tranferees, or newly created alt chracters from other servers who come to SS for the events or what not. The Rationality is this:
Its not hard to add a singe person to an event coordinators list, and its a whole lot easier to forward that to "guild". The intent is to get the "loose cannons" into the loop and better informed as to the server goings ons. I full expect a high turnover as people find a more "permanant home", as there are other guilds with active pilots.

Rapax,
I dont know about others, but I would join up...
Purpose A is a good purpose, but I agree with your position questioning its need. This forum is extremely helpful to pilots and given the SS population that actually reads these boards (seems like all of you are from SS) - I think a transferring pilot will show up on SS with enough IGN's to get started - and probably end up guilded (faction guild) relatively quick.
Now, granted, I am not on SS yet... so I am speaking based on observations (which sometimes are completely off).
Purpose B would be cool - assuming I am reading it right. Reading Comprehension FTW... Um yeah, anyway - a JTL guild based on space encounters (Shipwrights, Pilots, Crew members, etc?) maybe name it "something or other Squadron" and maybe Rebels will do/have done the same?
Anyhow, I digress again...
I will join you Rapax... and if you choose purpose B, I will stay guilded... If you go with purpose A, I will stay but I cannot say I wouldnt move on to an Imperial guild later on.
The reason I am coming to SS is for the great space activities (hands down better than the other servers) and the hope of actually having some faction based battles in space (instead of the random pvp i pwnz j00 fights...)
For the Empire!

Well I've had a lot of bad experiences with guilds, even so-called casual or "barely there" guilds. For that reason I would probably shy away from joining a guild. However, chat channels or mailing lists would definitely interest me. I haven't found any group of freelancers yet so I've just been hanging out on the ASFC channel.
I don't know if there is any dedicated freelancer organization. I think most people fly for either Imp or Reb while in Freelancer squadrons. There is also an Imp channel called chat.ImperialPilots.

The reason this is here is because many pilots from other galaxies are creating alts on SS and may need help settling in. It is most definitely a Pilot profession related topic since it is designed to help other pilots. Part of what Rapax is doing is seeing if there would be much interest in such an organization.
Don't be cranky because pilots are helping other pilots find space PvP on a server other than yours.
I'll help out however I can with either plan. But, I'm extremely happy with my guild and don't foresee leaving it anytime soon.

Well I didn't want to just barge in on an Imp channel. Leaph told me I should join the ASFC channel so that's why I'm there now.

What he said. That and upon expressing our need for a guild (or city which contains severalImp guilds)squadron I was immediatly volunteered to make it happen. However, I will help as much as I can.

Welcome to command, Pace. It ain't that glamarous. ![]()
Though we're on opposite sides of the fence now, Rapax, I fully encourage you to go through with this idea. When a regular guild (like RS) picks up these alt characters which often don't get played much, it's a strain on the guild.
That was my thought acutally for various reasons. On the opposite of that coin i was thinking, "you know, maybe they DO want those people to beef up their town status"

If you are flying Reb, you're in the right channel. But, if you're flying Imp, ImperialPilots is the place to be. I think I can justly say that we Imps would like to have you flying with us at least until our numbers get larger. Then, I don't think there would be hard feelings if you were to have a 'change of heart' and go back to the scummy side of the conflict
Even though i'm in Europe i keep rather strange time, and am generally alot late at night.
