I am cruising along through my missions even the harder ones i get done solo.. Then this insane mission comes along

Storm Squadron Tier 3 first mission starts escort no biggie then goes to recapture the freighter 5 a wing escort tier 3 ok a bit tough but I can handle it then a little pick up data from a freighter that is in the middle of a swarm of tier 4 thats not even mission related THEN while trying to get to next waypoint trying the whole time to kill the 4's 8 or so tier 3 that are mission spawn on me.

HOW is anyone supposed to do this?

Tryed solo failed

Tryed with a friend same level pilot 2222 failed

Tryed with 2 friends all of us 2222 failed

Tryed with an ace firned in his decimator fully crewed and the 3 2222 yep failed

I know folks have made it past this so whats the secret the mojo that i darn sure dont know?

Have you considered a hyper jump in-system to drop the aggro somewhere?

I did CP for the Alliance, but if Tier III storm squad is even remotely similar, in-system jumps are essential to surviving those.... Just make sure you choose a point that's far enough away (I did one once that dropped me off 1k away from the guys I was fleeing. ) Engine boosting droid commands would be very helpful too, if you don't already use them.

I did that one solo.. took me 4 times... make sure you got some good gear.. not the best of best but some decent stuff...

I also presume you can do the whole mission with some ease except ofcourse for the last bit

now the key is when escorting the freighter in the last fase.. you get jumped by tier 5 aggro.. which will kill you quick.. so as soon as the freighter jumps you activate hyperspace towards empire (INSYSTEM), or maybe better yet somewhat before as you still take some good beating otherwise.. now you get your lastwaypoint to deliver your data to a shuttle.... you get then jumped by like 8 or more A-wings .. as soonas you see those first wave coming.. hyper out again towards.. someplace but stil INSYSTEM.. then you fly unopposed towards last waypoint and deliver your data and you got a mission succes..

then you get stuck at the next as you need to take out a nova with turrets... there is where I am now.. I just also asked for help on the JTL forums

luckely the road towards that turret ships is easier then all you have done in your last mission... now you (as I) have to solve that puzzle...

If all else fails, friends who help usually do the trick (if the friends do not do the trick, try more friends, or friends with more skill - actual pilotskill, not filled skillboxes).

also I forgot to say after you done this mission and you do the defend Tie-squadron next mission..

it can become handy to take the box 3 in pilot skills as it got the bomber strike.... then again.. I cannot be sure as I choose components.. but I regret it now.. although.. with higher components I might be able to use some good missles and finish the job .. it is even for me now a guessing time... but tonight with new missles ( I hope) I will advance 1 more box...

From what I've been gathering, Storm Squadron is by far the most difficult squad to grind to ace. I remember doing a tier 3 mission that took almost two hours even with help! Good luck, and when you reach ace you should have a great sense of accomplishment being with Storm Squadron..

I soloed this on my first try without a single insystem hyperjump. The key for me was to disable everything and only kill things if time permitted. I also had an L2 flight comp with EO3 and WO3. I think I actually only destroyed a grand total of 5 ships, but the mission was done.

I finally got through this one last night solo on the way to my first ace, and as others have said one of the keys to this is the in-system h-jump, but..... Perhaps the best thing you can do for a fight like this with large numbers of opponents is to pick up somewhere the freelance droid commands of Cap to shield and cap overcharge... I can't stress enough how useful these two commands are for this mission. A good fast interface and you can get as many as 2 shunts off while chasing down the 5's and disableing them...which brings to mind another quick question... you are just disableing these critters and not sticking around for the kill/exp right??

Yes. As an Imperial Pilot I prefer to hear the plaintive wailing of my foes as they sit idle in space.

As for insystem jumps, I will not run from a fight. I am the Emperor's servant, not some smuggler worm who punches the hyerdrive at the first sign of real trouble. Whoever is teaching the "value" of the insystem jump in the Imperial academy deserves a visit from the Inquisitors. Any mission can be completed successfully without ignoring the rules of engagement.
