Good idea. Change the system around a bit.
Prestigue Points should be used to "buy" space realted items. These parts would to bought from a parts dealer, located at various parts of the galaxy, of the three faction (Rebel, Imperial, and Freelance). The parts dealer would most likely be in the major cities or, the same city as the faction recruiter is.
The Components
Engines, reactors, boosters, weapons, droid interfaces, shields, armor, capacitors, and mining equipment would be availible to all factions. No limit on how many of each item a person can have. These would be better than all loot. These would be better than all Level 8 and below crafted items. All of the components will not be able to RE. None of these items could be sold or traded.
The Chassis
Along with components, three chassis' would be availible in the form of deeds. These will also be purchased by all factions, with the exception being that each faction will have one that would be cheaper than the rest (i.e. if the YT-2400 light freighter were to be put in-game, it would be cheaper for Freelance pilots, but not for an Imperial or Rebel pilots). These ships would be POB. No limit on the number one person could have. None of these deeds could be sold or traded.
Other Items
Space realted decorations could also be bought. Miniatures of all the ships, paitings, decorative rugs, and the YT seating could be bought. Full sets of clothes would be on sale along with different ship textures. No limit on the ammount one person can buy. None of these items could be made crafters in-game. These items can be sold or traded.
Anyone see anything wrong with my system?

Id be happy if you could pay a random npc prestige pointsand maybe specify a type and level of an item then it would be like gettinga looted varient.
Ie, ask for a lv8 engine and a random lv8 engine would be generated like a space loot drop with its usual random stats, that way its not overpowering to anything and would really help out when you need to make up #'s for an RE with a chance that you might be lucky.
Bottom line is any use for prestige will be good.

I like this Idea, But what about squadren specific craft? Like real life fighter squadrens have their trade mark craft. And since the time ine is already borked we could have fun with it. For instance only some one who is an RSF pilot Can buy andfly a Naboo star fighter. Change it around so that only the inquisitoion can fly the royal gaurd TIE Interceptor.

I was thinking about making that part of my system, but I don't see it working out. That would be nine seperate ships in which only a few people could fly. I don't think it would be fair; a person of the same faction as I would get a ship that I couldn't get. Having nine ships divided by the three current factions, that could work. I'd have to look and see the different ships they could put in-game. Thanks for the suggestion though

how about the ability to use prestige to buy "Exceptional" repairs at any station (decay free, so if you get popped somewhere and can't limp to DS, you can still get decay free repairs)
I sure want this

That's a great idea! Completely cut the Shipwright Profession out of crafting things for pilots!
It would be much better if the Prestige Points were tradable for one or two or three shot schematics that HAVE to be crafted by a Master Shipwright. Just about anything else would be pooping on the Shipwright Profession.
I mean, how would all the pilots feel if they automatically made Master Pilots out of everyone that buys the next expansion or make it so that the players that buy the next "All Inclusive" (Total Experience) expansion pack receive some kind of artificial boost to obtaining phat loot in space?

Very good idea with one slight drawback. The system will be abused because people will buy level 9 components and sell them to the chassis dealer for cash.
Trading the parts in for things like YT-lounges and unique space furniture would be good. Any new schems for ships and/or components would be excellent. Perhaps new clothes (or schems for clothes) like pilot outfits and helmets etc.
Unique texture packs would be good - rebel/imp/neutral insignia and the like.

Well why not? It's only what SOE attempted to do with RotW! ![]()

great ideals, i agree with the sw tho, i think instead of getting the ship you could buy the blueprints for a ship and then take it to a sw to have them craft it.
another ideal i like was squadron alligened ships, RSF would get their naboo fighters, i'm sure much hasn't changed for the RSF since the earily days. Not sure to what Corsec would get, and Smuggler's allience either as most of the freelance are hutt varients which scream smuggler. Imperials and Rebels could get varients of Tie's and X-wings or others(need to brush up on my ships, sorry for being so vauge towards Rebs and Imps).
also the ideal of buying furinture for POB shis was great, i'd love to have some stuff to fill my YT with as the curved couch doesn't excatly go great with it but it works.

Nah, just give them the ship. Crafting chassises sucks. They take too many resources to be worth producing.
Definate no go on the components, however. That's where shipwrights really shine. Taking that away from them is just not going to work.
What they really need to do is put in decorations for pilots, and have those take prestige. New jackets, new flight suits, new helmets, furniture for POB ships, that sort of thing.

some really great ideas here
prestige xp needs to be spent somehow and this is indeed a great way.
Shipwrights need to get something out of this too though. Since Rotw SW's got pretty much shafted in all departments...
Instead of having a bunch of winglets and other future modifications, sw's could be able to change the the look of a ship much like an imagedesigner.. and depending on what changes you do, the material cost increases etc etc
just brainstormin
shipwrights needs some more stuff imo

would be a great way to introduce navy ranks and use the prestige to purchase higher ranks like how you use fp and ranks on the ground. not sure what benefits would come with the ranks but it would be nice to actually be noticed as a capt. of my ship.
