Ok, I've had it to here with the threads about the JSF. There's been about a thousand threads on this now. Let me sum it all up so we can stop this nonsense...

  • "The JSF is unbalanced! Whaa! NERF IT NOW!!!!!"

  • "The JSF is Imp only! WTH!!! WHAAAA!!! NERF IT NOW!!!!"

  • "How do I get the JSF?"

  • "The JSF is teh R0x0r! I oWnz Jo0!!!"

  • "How do Rebels get the JSF? NERF IT NOW!"

Ok people, first off, read the dang FAQ stickied at the top of the board.

Second, if you have a problem with the stats go to the "New Ship Stats" Thread (also stickied for your enlightenment) and discuss it intelligently there.

Third if you are a Rebel, and you want the JSF, you have to drop Rebel ground and pilot faction, go Imp, complete the mission. Then you can go and drop Imp ground and pilot then go back Rebel and still have your JSF.

Are the stats out of balance, go back and look at the "New Ship Stats" thread and discuss in there. Believe it or not the rest of us already discussed this with the pilot coorespondent and came up with (are you ready for this?) INTELLIGENT BALANCING SOLUTIONS!!!!!

Stop screaming NERF like a bunch of uneducated sheep and give some freakin solutions for once! My god! Can't anyone say something a bit smarter than "I got owned by a JSF and it's all because of it's unbalancing stats!" Maybe it's because you can't fly? Just a guess. Personally I've dueled a number of these already, as well as the ships WITH IDENTICAL STATS btw... took em down no problemo.

Read the FAQ's, learn to pull manuevors instead of just roll whil turning, aim for once instead of just firing wildly and praying for a good hit. Use missles, what a concept! "Whaaaa! It's an Imp ship and it's out of balance!" Well, figure out how to beat the darn thing then! It's not hard!

A good pilot in a JSF is probably going to shoot you down, but guess what a good pilot in a normal TIE Intercepter could probably do the same thing. It's a poor musician that blames their instrument.

If you want to discuss it, back yourself up with the stats and suggest some form of solution that isn't just a nerf because you got your ego smashed. Yes, I have a JSF, No I don't fly it. It is not the best fighter in the game, it is not TeH U83r, it's just another dang ship. If you want to suggest balance then make sure you take into account the other ships with IDENTICAL stats, otherwise you're just whining because you don't know how to fly. Period.

Flame all you want, but I've had it with all this NERF crap. This game is in shambles since CU, quests are broken everywhere, and all you people can do is cry because some kid blew you up. Get your act together, get your gear re-engineered, and learn to fly.

There's plenty of excellent pilots that would tell you the same thing. Those of you that know me, know I'm not trying to be disrespectful. But the fact that it takes 5 minutes to send one line of chat in groupchat is a bigger issueIMHO than NERF'ing anything.Yes, balance is needed, but nothing NOTHING is unbeatable! You can solo a Star Destroyer but you're gonna cry because of this little ship? Please!

This is gonna be a shocker ... My Imp ace's JSF spends most of it's time in the hanger.

I prefer my Firespray or my Oppressor depending on mood.

My JSF's real nice, some excellent gear. Very fast, turns on a dime. But it's just something I pull out now and then and "play" with ... not something I "use" while advancing in the game.

I prefer my Aggresor, Royal Guard Intercepter, or my Firespray over the JSF anyday. personally, IMHO the JSF is for Newbs who think it will help them win.

I don't have a JSF (yet) so my opinion on its flying characteristics comes solely from watching other pilots (mis)use it.

That said, I agree with with some others have said, that the JSF isn't an insta-win system, but that some noobs think it is. My opinion has mostly been shaped by trying to help a fellow Imperial with a Tier 4 inquisition mission. He was flying a JSF, I was flying my Oppressor. Even with my overweight, undergunned Oppressor, it was pretty obvious that I knew what I was doing and he didn't. My 5-to-1 kill ratio pretty much spoke for itself, as did the fact that with a wingman and an extra 25k mass, this clown couldn't get past a mission that I soloed in a TIE Advanced.

Now against an equally skilled pilot in a JSF I'd expect my Oppressor to be space dust. But for noobs who think the JSF is the greatest thing in existance, since some jedi flew them 20 years ago, it's probably a worse ship than if they just had to actually learn to fly and equip a TIE Advanced.

Thats exactly what I'm talking about!

Last night, I was helping a guy with his Black Epsilon Tier 4 exit mission.

On our first attempt I used my Royal Guard TIE. I don't think I got hit once in that ship. Going through mowing down NPC's on that long crazy escort mission. Unfortunately, the mission holder died towards the end so we had to try again.

So I figured I'd go drag the JSF out of Moth Balls. Now, as soon as I got that thing in the air I was putting it through it's paces. Nimble, good turning... then (because I wasn't paying attention) I took 3 missle hits in a row. Thats when I thought to myself, "This thing has got one hell of a glass jaw!" Basically, in my excitement I gave it great big blasters, an insanely fast engine, but unfortunately I didn't take the time to get a good shield on it and the armour was negligible as well. So I spent the next hour and a half staring at the "EJECT" prompt while we finished the mission.

So, a lot of it is all about the components you install. Also it's about the pilot behind the stick.Yes, the JSF/Grievous are nimble as all get out, they have good mass too. But they are in no way an "I Win" button. Personally I could care less if they change these ships but what I do care about is the other bazillion bugs that are still in live after CU. Chatlag, broken quests, weapon elemental effects, etc... etc... etc.... fix all that before you Dev's even consider nerf'ing these ships for no good reason at all.

I'm just majorly annoyed that it is so darn easy to get. That's where I want to see an effort to balance things.

I feel that all 3 movies ships should be nearly as hard to get as the Bellbulab is, not some silly walk in the forest escort and maybe later kill some gray cons. The quests have interesting structure to them, but they need to be set up far differently and made far more challenging. I am having a harder time trying to finish Boba Fett's clone relic quest because of the L50 spawns in the Warren, whereas I have nearly fallen asleep getting the JSF and the ARC.

The JSF is the new "exretemely revealing skirt" in swg. Everyone was wearing one when it came in, and now everywhere I go I see JSFs. I regularly target closest player whenever I launch/hyper etc and I cannot tell you how many times I see JSF now.

The scary thing about the JSF isn't what happens when some pissant wannabe thinks it makes him Teh Ub3r Ac3 pil0t.I've seen a JSF in the hands of a competent and skilled pilot, and its a terror to behold. He blew through six people in less than a minute and took the combined efforts of six more to put him down finally.

Now that to me is an insane situation. The pilots he beat are damned good at their game and most of us that night were flying X-Wings and a Firespray (which was one of the six that went down in the opening attack).

Now the JSF is supposed to be an Elite fighter, and I'm fine with that, but lets not delude ourselves about its balance. I'm seriously of the opinion that a superior pilot in an inferior machine can out fly an inferior pilot in a superior machine, but put a genuine ace in that thing, and it lives up to its title as the Jedi Starfighter.

What bothers me about the JSF is not its performance stats, but the troubling continuation of the pattern of looted and quested components and ships performing at a far superior level to crafted items. Some of us who play are loyal to a faction and its more to us than a question of who's purple and who's blue/red when we log in that afternoon.

I'm just hoping that the Belbeelzelbigbubba fighter is a decent counterpart to this thing.

Ah, but I do the samething in my Royal Guard TIE Intercepter.

I agree that I rather see things crafted, although have you checked out the armoursmith forums? I have no pity for those people with the way the talk about the rest of the community, same goes for weaponsmiths.

It is nearly Identical except that it is a bit bigger, same aount of gunslots, same amount os missle slots, same YPR and chasis stats.... etc....

As a major JTL player, I will say this. I can cut through 6 players in my JSF, or my RG TIE, or my Hvy TIE, or my oppressor, or my ... you get the jist of it. Yeah, I know the stats on this thing are a bit off balance... but it's not JUST the JSF with "unbalancing" stats. All the Heavy Starter ships, as well as all the reward ships have stats which are very close too each other.

I still fly my pre-ROTW ships, and have been just as successful with them. I've even seen some hard-core rebels that got themselves a JSF and I took them down just as easy as an AWing. The whole point of this thread though was simply... I've heard enough! We've beaten this arguement to death. Solutions were proposed, Tomo is aware, and all of this was communicated to the Dev's already. 250 more threads complaining about this isn't going to change a thing.

Whats going to happen? I'll tell you. Since everyone is complaining about JUST the JSF it will be the only one NERFed. Not the Grievous, not the Heavies, not the other reward ships, just the JSF. Which IMHO is just as bad as not changing the JSF at all. You can't just say "The JSF is unbalancing" ALL of these new ships are unbalancing.

The difference is, I say either change them all or don't change any. The dozens of NERF the JSF threads make no mention of the other ships that have nearly identical stats.

On Ahazi I saw a lot of them when ROTW first launched, it's true that the NS POI still has a line of people waiting to get there drop. But I also predict that they're going to start to become less and less popular as they start getting owned more often in PvP.

PvE... I don't hear too many complaints. The fact that they are "everywhere" again in PvE no big deal. It's the same as if all Reb's flew AWings or all Imp's flew Oppressors. The quest is too easy. But again, the issue is PvP.

JSF's are EASY to kill in PvP especially since all the people who tend to fly this ship in PvP are the "wanna-be" pilots. A true Ace would fly something else. The JSF has a stigma attached to it already as the "poor man's PvP I-Win" button. Here's what you do to deal with ANY of these new ships.

Image-Rec Launchers and counter-measures. Most people are loading these new ships with big guns, big engines and paper thin shields without CM's. So there ya go. On an Oppressor you get 3 launchers.. thats a lot of Image Rec's. On any of the older Tier 3-Ace cert ships you can carry more armour, better shields, bigger guns, more missles, more counter measures... etc.

I dare someone to come after me in a JSF if I'm flying my Oppressor, or Firespray. You're toast in the first pass while I'm simply hitting Cap to Shield Shunt wothout even stressing my armour.

I just love the double standard. NERF the JSF but don't nerf my greivous, or my hvy starter ships, or my super-duper XWing or etc..... It's all or none. Otherwise you're not asking for balance, you're just complaining cause you got owned by a newb because you didn't do what you need to do to win.

(EDIT: BTW, I'm starting a second acct on Ahazi, he's going to be a Rebel pilot for one and only one reason. So that I can smack every single overt JSF I see into the ground. Then I'll switch toons and do the same to every single ARC-170 I can find. It's open season on all the new Heavies as well. )

Not all the pilots flying the JSF are noob pilots, some are VERY skilled. The pilot Janu refered to is one such pilot, another such pilot was on Janu's side of that engagement. Against a skilled (and smart pilot) in a JSF, Image-Recs are not the equalizers you think they are: if you can't get a lock, you can't launch, and that one time in 2 hours of fighting you do get a lock, you find he has CMs.

I fully agree on the Opp/Firespray though, its fun towatch aless skilled JSF pilots come head on toone of my heavy ships. Nothing more satisfying then blowing up a JSF with blasters, and living through the engagement.

One question on the Heavies, do they have the same stats as the JSF for YPR? Reason I ask, is I remember the JSF having 10.4 YP / 5ish R on the chassis window, and my Heavy TIE has 8.4 YP / don't remember the R at the moment. I'll double check the heavy stats later today when I log in (can't double check the JSF as I have to regrind a few more times before I launch it again), but 10.4 =/= 8.x. Did they get tweaked, or do I have a defective TIE?
