Thread: How can I cause Damage to ships??
well, it sounds like you just aren;t hitting him. Just like health on the ground, the shield will regenerate.
Aim for the green cross, or lead indicator, that is in fron of the ship. This is the general place where his ship will be by the time your lasers have traveled to him. General rule is that the farther away you are, the farther in front of him you need to shoot. Best range is about 250m-100m. Fly at about 75% speed for optimal speed and handling. If you are having trouble hitting him, always disable his reactor furst so you can finish him off easier, or at least complete the mission.
I am shooting him, and I am hitting him. I noticed on the HUD the red bar goes down from 500 every time i fire, and when i hit with a 500 shot it causes minimal damage. I presume this is the indication of how powerful my weapon is? If I shoot with anything else, say when the bar is on 476, I dont cause any damage with my shots, and at this point the guys shield is regenerating back up.
What do I do?
well, in that case, here's what I think is happening...
You are hitting him the first time ( I assume it is your initial attack because you have a full cap), but then he is taking evasive manuevers and you start missing him. Try turning your joystick/mouse sensitivity to 100%, or, if you are a jerky fighter, turn it down. Best way to draw an even bead on an enemy is full throttle, since it is the hardest to handle, but dont get too close of course, he may pull the brakes and let you zip by. Practive practice practice. Thats what I am doing :-D
I have a solution, if you are in a guild, get a master pilot to come up, make a group and he can kill the guy. Or, if you have the Equipment I skill (or whatever the imperial equivilent it) and i think its Imperial technology I or whichever gives you the ability to pilot the regular tie fighter, buy a new tie fighter, usually about 20,000 credits and you can usually find it on the bazaar terminal, and buy a new weapon with certification level three. If you dont have the skill that lets you pilot the better tie fighter, just buy a tie light duty one, same kind as the starter ship so you can put new equipment on it in the manage screen you saw
Also, you can just buy a new tie light duty fighter and use looted parts unless you always sell them to the chassis dealer and dont have any.
Hope that helps ![]()
there's a bug with JTL regarding nForce motherboards and any modern boards that uses spread spectum analyser technology..
If you are having a hard time registering damage on enemy ships even though you are clearly hitting them (and if they're warping around like drunk bumblebees now and then), I strongly recommend that you go into your motherboard's BIOS and disable spread spectrum..
read your motherboard's or computer's manual or consult your manufacturer's tech support on how to access your BIOS to disable it.. by default, it's usually set to auto or 50%..
IMPORTANT NOTE:IF YOU OR ANYONE IN THE HOUSEHOLD IS USING A PACEMAKER, DO NOT DISABLE SPREAD SPECTRUM ANALYZER
