Seriousily I was dreading this thing. I was like, man this is going to be so tough. Kinda excites you. Well me and my pal go out to Kessel, im on the kill 30 rebels. He is on the corvette mission. So we go in, Im down to like 10 rebels and there is the corvette. So we fly over towards it, there is 2 gunboats with it, no escort. So we both call in our bomber strike 2 on it. They eat through it. In no time it has no weapons. So we go in, very cautiosly cause we hadn't read the forums or anything on it. Well, the gunboats completly ignore us, so we take our time dissambling it piece by piece and in a couple minutes there is no piece left. And my pal is a master.

Maybe we got lucky, no escort all that.

Well I go finish my mission. My pal, now a master pilot is also a master shipwright. So he goes and pimps out the decimator while I finish my mission and go get the corvette one. Well we go back up a while later, in the decimator, thats it, just the decimator. Find the corvette there again lol, perfect timing I guess. Well some NPCs are blasting into them including the escort. The corvette kind of drifts out on its own. So my pal jumps into the ops seat and calls in Bomber Strike 3 then I hop in and call in my Bomber Strike 2. In no time again the weapons are out. We have destroyed most the escort ships and one gunboat. Then we go in and tear up the thing lol. No missles, didnt use one. The shields went down in like seconds, as did everything else. And before you know it Im a master too

I really feel sorry for the rebels and freelance. They really dont know the power of a bomber strike lol.

But all the time all I hear is how tough it is, all that hype, and in the end, be pure luck, or the force was with us lol, it was easy.

Its almost sad....

Hehehe

Well, if you want it to be exciting and tough, do the same thing without calling in a bombstrike. It's a bit like saying "it was just the two of us, in one ship. all alone. Just us. And the thirty odd tier 4 ties we had with us"

If the gunboats ignored you, then either whomever took out the fighter screen disabled thier guns, or they were bugged.

If you're looking for more dificulty, take out the gunboats first, then the vette.

And solo it.

If that's still not up to par, do the kashyyk duty missions from the YT-1300 guy or the rodian outposts.

Dont use your precious bomberstrike. Its like training wheels for a TIE fighter.

this reminds of that one scene in robin hood: men in tights, when robin and the sheriff where about to duel and he says 'just you and me, mano a mano, man to man... just you and me and my GUARDS!!!' hehe

seriously though, the vette is pretty easy if you follow that guide to solo it, the fighters put up more of a fight then the vette or gunships. the gunships would be hard if they didn't just fly straight though.

lol, dont use the bomber strike. Yeah,.....sure. And it aint level 4's its level 5's lol. Thats kinda...just, not smart though fellas It's like oh well, this thing here I want to make a challenge. So instead of using my guns on it .....oh let me go fight the corvette with my mining laser too how bout that lol, come on, you use what you have, don't be jealous. Just playing around, but you all sound like you took this a little overboard, I was just stating the whole time I had started flying all I heard was the corvette, so hard to get master. You have to kill a corvette. And then I get there, and its a piece of cake. And yes I do use my skills, Im sure rebels never call in the repair ship either. No offense meant, but dont try to belittle my kill by saying I used all my stuff at my disposal to kill it.

The neutrals had that E.M.P. thing that was to powerful. They nerfed that. Maybe they'll nerf the bomber strike to something like the neutrals Pirate Trap......

You know I didn't realise that as a rebel pilot those bomber strikes were so deadly.

Also I didn't know that I could target those ships and destroy them too.

So, one day I was in kessel and flying around I noticed the rebel corvette flying by.
I decided to follow it and for several minutes nothing much happened.

Then all of a sudden the corvette was taking damage ... we were under attack I thought, so I jumped in to help and destroyed all the attacking ships.

But sitting about 3km a way was a long imperial player ship... Ooops!

A minute later the rebel corvette jumped out.

Actually, I have never used either the repair or reload ships that us rebs get. You have to be in a "safe area" to use them. And from what ive heard, that means you cant be anywhere near a red dot.

And im not belittling your skill man. You could very well be twice the pilot that I am. Just saying, if you want it to be such a challenge, dont use the Bombers.

Even without the bombers, the vette is cake. If you have the slightest bit of strategy when you go in, you won't even get plucked once. After all is said and done, I think I'm ready to make an attempt at downing the thing in a tie/in, seeing as how I've downed it with every Imperial ship above that without calling in a bomber strike.

I do agree, with proper strategy, this is a very doable mission. You still have to pay attention, but not a huge deal. The thing is, by the time a pilot is 4444, they should know how to fly straight at a ship, target a component, stay in the blind spots and strafe.

The thing is, this mission to me, is more a test of tactics. Do you have the problem-solving skills to devise a proper technique. Hit all the blindspots, take out the correct components, etc. The fact that there are some good walkthrus on the forum here helped me to understand the mission. But try to get a group of 4 or more pilots on this mission, all taking an active role, and not getting a couple guys sent to spaceship heaven. Its all in the planning, communication and tactics.

I have yet to find anything in space that can't be done with a direct flight path, tone, fire, roll in an indirect line taking shots when it lines up, an a quick speed/direction adjustment at the last minute. Granted freedom station was a pain in the ass to solo, and took many, many runs, but the tactic worked with only a couple shunts per run.

Maybe one of these days the Grievous mission will be doable, as every time I've done a run at it, the recharging platforms have been unattackable. I'm starting to think that I might want to get into space mining to earn another small fortune, as the ores are still rare on my server, and I know for a fact that in a few hours of mining while covert, I could easily earn a prety penny on one of those y-8 mining ships, even solo.

I soloed my RG Int mission without using a bomber strike because I'd been told the strike would keep pounding the Vette and cripple the turrets too easily.

As for the Kessel Vette, I've taken at least two hundred of them down singlehandedly, probably 1/4 without bomberstrike, and most of the time I just left the things there with the reactor and bridge left for wayward xp-seeking and master mission pilots to frag for credit.

Once you get the rhythm down, it's easier to take down the gunboat than it is a gunboat/NPC POB.
