Thread: What do you think of your Cockpit frame?

I think the Bwing runs really tight with the Awing for having the best cockpit view of the Alliance fighters. It has a really nice view although over the schoulder viewing isnt as good as the Awing. The Ywing and Xwing have that secure armored feel to them, but they seem a bit cramped.
What are your oppinions on the various cockpit views of your faction craft? I can immagine that some of the TIEs would have attrocious periferal views.

TIE's don't affect your combat very much, but they're all the same and get boring.

Unfortunately I have to disable my cockpit view for performance reasons. But I like it (in all ties).

With the lack of visibility in the X-Wing's cockpit, Alliance pilots had to have been superb in order to beat the Empire. Being unable to see anything, including what you're shooting, below the horizon is a handicap

I'd say the B-wing is the best of the Reb ships. Personally, I always fly w/ the cockpit off. The fact that it shows up for Hyperspace means I get it exactly like i want it: not in the way when fighting, there where I want eye-candy

My only complaint about the Firespray cockpit is the texture quality is pretty low-res. I'd love a higher detailed version as an option so that those with slower systems wouldn't be affected.

hm mine disppears after I hyperspace, I haven't seen it in a while 
But then my weapons group also cycles when I hyperspace, maybe that's just me...

well the TIE is Prob True to form.No side windows. And The sunroof leaks.

haha, its a good thing you have environmental suits. Would suck to catch a draft in space, or would that draft suck to catch or would you just get sucked out.

I don't see any problem with it. Its never been a handicap to me.

Lies, there's a distinct difference between the starter tie view and the oppressor view, it's missing about 2 little lines between the front window, other than that, there really is no difference whatsoever.

i think my cockpit frame looks great while im jumping to lightspeed, but thats the only time ill ever look at it. when in battle situational awareness is key, and having the cockpit frame turned off WILL make you a better pilot. i also go into my display settings and turn up the field of view for a sort of "fish-eye" effect that lets me see more side to side.

No, it will make you used to flying without a realistic static obstruction. Its more of a crutch. Lets say you got two groups of three pilots facing off. Group A always flies with the cockpit off and Group B flies with it on. Now, they get forced to go the opposite ways. Group A would not be able to do as well, because they're used to the large field of view, while Group B will do better, because they've got more field of view than what they're used to. I fly with my cockpit on, and in first person view(I never wanna see my ship from the outside.). And I am very aware of what is going on around me, at all times.
