When an A-wing or a TIE Advanced can one/two-shot a ship carrying lvl 10 shields and armor, it's time for the damage to go down. If the light starfighters can destroy a heavy ship so easily, there is no place in PvP for the heavy ships. Down with the pvp damage!!!

PvP damage has already been reduced, reducing it more would f*ck up fighter vs fighter combat. Stop calling for nerfs and use your noggin: we need to boost the survivability of Multiplayer ships, either by adding inate hull-modifers(2.5 damage, 3.0 shield/armour mod etc) or by allowing them to install several componants of the same type(double-shields, double-armour, dual or quad guns in each turret etc).

either the damage needs to come down more, or the higher lvl shields/armor need a serious buff. i personaly think that shiedl strength should go up propotionaly with the mass with highers lvls. i find it funny that a shield with a mass of 7000 can have a strength of 1300 but ive never seen a 70000 mass lvl10 shield over 2000. the lvl10 shield should have the potential for 10 times the stength compared to the lvl5 shield since it has 10 times the mass. i personaly like the fightervsfighter damage as is, but heavy attack ships need more protection.

NO NERFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets stop this before it get way out of hand. Mods on chasis of MP ships i like. Perhaps better lvl stats as well but no PVP nerfs. Over nerfs make Bugged Prof and then Broken professions. And i think we have seen the way they fix whats broken.

Sorry, but the original poster is right. PvP in JTL needs further damage reduction. The math right now is completely out of wack. Currently in the game even the lightest single gun fighters can destroy the heaviest multi-gun fighters in only a handfull of shots. There needs to be a reason for a player to want to fly one of the heavier slower fighters. Right now that reason doesn't exsist. If you choose to fly one of the bigger multi-gun fighters in PvP, all you do is make yourself a bigger, slower target. Sure, in exchange for this you get more guns, but all that extra firepower is overkill. There's no reason to have a lot of firepower in PvP because the damage that even a single player gun does is enough to take out any other player in only a small number of hits. Even if everyone is just flying light fighters, the battles still go too quick. I know its fun to pull in behind someone and watch them explode from one or two well aimed shots, but PvP needs to be a two-way street. Battles that last less than 10 to 30 seconds followed by several minutes of repair and travel time are not going to draw people into PvP.

The problem with space is essentially that the devs went with the same type of game mechanics that are on the ground. Players: Low HAM, high damage. NPCs: High HAM, Low damage. A master elite combat toon can dish out 3-4k per hit depending on profession, but an unbuffed toon has 1k or so HAM.

That's why we have the 75% damage reduction in PvP on the ground. It's messed up if you think about it, and unforunately SOE used the same model in space.

Well, I can take a whole lot of hits from NPC ships, but I know that if I got hit by my own guns I'd be toast pretty quick. And my guns are probably considered "average" by "1337 d00d" standards. If we buff the armor and shields of heavy ships, then it makes them nearly invincible in PvE. Perhaps the only answer is a bigger reduction in PvP...

Well I am not a master pilot yet so I have no first hand exp withthe PvP combat. BUt, if you read the books and watch the movies most ships can only take a few hits befor they are toast and become one with the Force. So maby they do have it right. But , that is just my specualtion.

Yeah PvP in JTL is something like this.

Oh someone is shooting at................ lovely cut scene of ship exploding.
In a yt-1300 we didn't even get a chance to target the person shooting before we blew up.

Okay, some people here need a lesson in relative math. What exactly is the difference between the weapon damage decreasing and the sheild values increasing? Effectively? There is no difference. What's the reason to fly anything but the fastest, lightest ship in PvP if even the heaviest ships can get wasted in 2-3 hits? And I'm not just talking about MP ships here, but all of the medium/heavy ships in the game. Why fly a Longprobe or an Oppressor or the Tier IV Freelancer ship (don't ask me to spell it, because it's not going to happen)? There's no reason in PvP. Essentially, there is only one viable PvP class ship. If this is changes, all of the rocket jockeys will cry nerf, and everyone else will say, "Thank god, some friggin' balance." Low mass ships should be nimble, but weaker. It's that simple.

Totally agree with the original poster.

We need higher damage reduction as soon as possible. My experience of solo-pvp in Deep Space has been to fly around looking for a target (takes a while!) and when I find one fly towards them. They are doing the same and start to fly directly at me. The "dogfight" then involves which one of us can fire as many weapons as possible at the highest distance!

Hmmm... shall I take my A-Wing or my Firespray into Deep Space today... it doesn't matter!! The advantages are all shot away by the above "dogfight" model! The firespray having a slight advantage I suppose because I can fire both weapons and two sets of missiles at the target I guess - just in case

Increasing the shield strength will require them to increase the PvE damage as well. I'd actually prefer this, but I highly doubt the DEVs will see it this way. It's true that they have this game design where they have a totally separate PvP and PvE system, and it causes all kinds of problems. For them to rebalance this will take just as long as it's taking for the combat rebalance.

/agree 100%. Damage needs to come down for PvP only. When you start making adjustments like buffing shields and such, you unbalance the PvE game. If PvE can remain the same, and PvP damage can be reduced, then I'm all for it. When you think about it, you can't even one or two-shot a Tier 4 or Tier 5 NPC ship, so why should you be able to do so to a player ship?
