Thread: What is the best way to kill A-Wings Fast (PvE)

The missions to get my tier three boxes for Storm Squad requires me to kill tier 3 a wings within a time limit. I can't quite make it solo. I am 3322. I have tried loading my bomber with 2 level 6 guns and 18 mark2 proton missles but I can't manuver well enough to kill them under the time limit. I have fit a level 6 gun in my intercepter but my capacitor can not keep up and it still is not quite enough firepower to kill fast enough.

Any ideas? Should I be using different missles?

The answer to your problem is to go out and buy a Heavy TIE. 95k mass, enough to fit everything you need.

You mentioned the main problem right in your question. Get a wingman, that's way cheaper than a new ship...

There are a couple things you can do.

1) as the other poster said...get a TIE Heavy.

2) run droid commands. You should be fine on cap energy if you are running Weapon Overload 3. YOu dont have the skill yet, but you likely know another Imperial that cna burn it on adisk for you.

3) Use Conc missiles if you can. They have a better heat on the shields. THis allows you to hit the armor and make the next point work even better.

4) target the engine. Once the sheilds and armor are beat up, the engine will start taking a beating. This slows the ship down, and will eventually leave it sitting in space. Much easier to hit an Awing that isn't moving. An Awing with 1% on the chassis and a 100% engine is still a pain to hit and can recharge its sheilds. Targeting engines is a skill that will always be handy to have and is why so many missions involve targeting engines to disable ships. It is an important skill to have.

Note: if 2, 3 and 4 are used....1 isn't needed. FLying with that Imperial buddy you got the WO3 off of wouldn't hurt either.

Joust them. Hit one at a time and punch some holes through the front armor would be my suggestion. Just have that Capicator to Shield shunt ready.

spacebombs kill a-wings real fast

but if your lookin to kill lots ( tear 3 SS missions ) then i sugest you get a few friends to come along and outfit your Tie with as much fire power as pobbible and use capoverload3. line up the a-wing and hold the trigger down till its dead.

I keep hearing how much of a pain A wings are and i have to say there no harder than a Tie interceptor.

The hardest thing to hit is those damn Droid Fighters. They're minute.

Basics aside,

I just target their engines and try to disable them.

Disableing a ship takes it out of the fight much quicker then trying to destroy it.
A ship with a partially damaged engine will slow down some, making him easier to hit.

Having gone up against A-Wings and TIE Interceptors, I've gotta respectfully disagree. The hit box on an A-Wing is tighter and the damned things are squirrelly as hell. I can kill a squadron of TIE Interceptors in the time it takes me to kill one A-Wing of the same Tier.

I do agree the Droid Fighters area pain.

Agreed...tier 5 droid fighters are very quick and tiny. Can I have one?

I'm speaking from experience myself. I've currently done all the Rebel and freelance squads and am 3222 Inquisition. And all the A wings i've had to kill have been just as easy as i find Tie Interceptors. Maybe and its i'm using a Heavy Tie so i can have a nice centerally mounted gun, but they don't seem too much trouble.

Ya got me there, I've only ever fought them in a B-Wing and X-Wing. Those widespread guns make'em a pain in the crotch to get a good bead on.

Personally i found A wings a bit harder to hit then T/I's.

But really it depends on what ship your using.

Shooting at a T/I with an Xwing is a bit easier. You have a good spread on the weapons.
Shooting at an A wing in a Tie with Chin mounted guns, the hitbox is tight, your gun spread is tight, therego your aim must be tighter.
