Thread: Jedi SF, ARC-170, and Grevious SF

I know a lot of people have posted about how they cannot use these new ships due to imp/reb only quests and how it has been explained different ways. This usually boils down to the fact that the JSF was Anakin/Darth V's, and is therefore imp. The Arc was Republic, and therefore Rebel, and the Grevious was sorta third-party, and therefore for anyone (minus bug probs, of course). However, after seeing Episode III, this make almost no sense at all. For those who havent seen the movie, there are a few small spoilers ahead, so don't read if you don't want to know. I used the common names forthe shipsrather than technical in the hope of avoiding confusion.
Jedi Star Fighter
The Jedi (and others,not seen in film)had many of these, Obi-Wan used a couple different ones and since other jedi were not on Coruscant during the "retirement" of those jedi in the temple, it can be assumed that they were also using at least a few jedi still have them. Just because Anakin had, and kept,one doesn't meanall JSFsshould be imp since he turned imp. One last note on this, he never recovers his after the final battle, so where did the one he gives out (claiming it as his old one)come from?
ARC-170
This was the Clone trooper fighter in the film. So, umm, the clones all turned Imperial, and therefore all the ships theyhad in their inventorydid as well. It makes no sense to make this a Rebel only ship since what later become stormtroopers used them. There were many of these in themovie, so it is not hard to believe that different groupscould aquire them.However, when compared with the JSF argument, it would make much more sense for these two ship quests to be reversed.
Grevious Star Fighter
The only one that I clearly remember seeing was piloted by. . . Obi-Wan. Not by any other imperial forces, not by any Republic Clones, just one jedi.The space battles all showed droid fighters, notthese. So. . .since this one is available to all in SWG, why not the others like this since they are seen havinga much more diverse user base?
These ships were introduced solely because of EpIII. Also, the expansion made no note of the fact that these were going to be only usable by specific factions. This, along with the lovely pictures and descriptionsthat were provided on the RotW site could have easily misled many who purchased the expansion with the hopes of piloting (or building for that matter) a craft that they would have to sacrifice much in game work to get to use (ex: drop rep/imp ground faction, lose reb/imp pilot because of this). Devs, this makes no sense (especially since you dont lose the ability to pilot it when switching factions, unlike any other skill).Anyways, I just felt the need to post this. Ignore me, flame me, whatever.

Does Vader say it's his actual ship, or the plans to his old ship? I guess it is handed out as a deed rather than blueprints, right? It would make perfect sense if it was a blueprint or schematic (different meanings in game, but essentially the same idea), but not if it's his actual ship... Just how many of these did he own anyway?

Yeah, its a deed. As for if it was really his ship, I haven't done the quest, but that's whatsomeone told me. Either way, still doesn't make a lot of sense.

I did it and the ship is ready to go. All you need is freelancer 4333 and put it in your data pad.

Vader hands over the keys. The queen is rebel minded and hands over the keys to an old but patched up ship that was left on naboo during the clone wars.
Please stop posting this threads. Devs have already stated that as a quest reward they find it unfair to lose your ship when changing factions. Devs will sooner "fix" this by removing certs from the pilots that can't do the quest then adding extra quests for the other sides.

You're absolutely right and I posted a note similar to this a few days ago. The ARC-170 is a clone-based fighter and therefore an Imperial Stormtrooper-based fighter once the Chancellor declares himself Emperor. The Actis (Jedi Fighter) was used by many Jedi during the Clone Wars (and we know the Jedi had extras available if both Obi-Wan AND Anakin went through two each over the course of the movie!). Maybe the Imperials who do the mission are given Vader's personal ship, but that doesn't mean some other Rebel pilot couldn't come across another Jedi's old ship collecting dust on some Outer Rim world (maybe the Jedi NPC on Dantooine could point a player in the right direction with little modification for the devs). Either way, for anyone who hopes to see Star Wars continuity fit as closely as possible within the context of the game, it makes no sense whatsoever to prevent the acquisition of these ships by any and all pilots skilled enough to seek them out. It's a big galaxy, and there have to be a few of these old fighters sitting around waiting for the right pilot, regardless of faction. To any would-be flamers: This thread brings to light a major inaccuracy in game implementation and if you're not happy with this being pointed out, then shut your eyes, stay your fingers, and simply move on to the next thread on the pilot forum!

Well.. i lost my ARC this way.. i switched from freelance to Rebel Pilotand cant use it anymore.

no you did not. when you switch piloting yes you lose the ability till you get to tire 4

sounds like its a bug. . the devs did say that if you switched you would still be able to fly the quest rewords. so it realy sounds like a bug

This is something I posted in our boards, it goes along with what you are saying about the JSF...
Ok, when the new expansion came out I was a bit miffed that I could not get the Jedi Starfighter due to being Rebel...
The big counter response I got from most that DID get it was "It was Anakin's ship, he is giving his ship as a relic reward. so it SHOULD be Imperial only so deal with it!"
Ok, after watching the film last night *and not meaning to give spoilers here* Obi Wan had one as well... So, even tho Obi Wan is dead in this timeline, he did spend time with the Reb icons in this game (IE. Luke, Leia, Han...) so why couldn't SoE implement a mission from luke or Leia with a "Obi Wan would have wanted you to have this." type quest so that Rebs could get it? Or a specific Junk Dealer with a "This was recovered from some old junk disgarded by the Empire, Here, I can't use it..." type quest for nuetral pilots?
Or, better yet, instead of Leia with a "Obi Wan would have wanted you to have this..." type thing,
it could be a quest that ends with going to Obi Wan's house on Tat, to find the deed hidden there.
that could work for both Rebs and Nuetrals, just we have to have different starting points.
But the whole thing about "It was Anakins ship, so it has to stay imp only." argument no longer floats, as Obi Wan flew one as well, and we all know Obi Wan did not go to the Empire.
It's just that after seeing the movie, I REALLY WANT ONE! but have too much invested in the Rebellion to "temporarily" drop it just to get an expansion reward that could EASILY be either Imp OR reb.
Now, just to be fair, I also feel that since Grievous WORKED for Palpatine, and Palpatine wanted him dead, his (or his clone remake's) ship should also be imp or Reb.

Of course, you're all assuming the things they do should in fact make sense. Kinda silly since so few things ever have, why would they start now?
