The people who can get by using a Dunelizard are either patient in waiting for parts, or have a source of parts other than the pilot with the Duney. The end run with a Duney takes good RE'd parts, to kick your mass/effictiveness ratio up to a point where you can still compete. Can't skimp on much when you want to finish in one, and need to save every ounce of mass you can to fit the needed engine, shield and weaponry in.

I just logged for the night, however tomorrow when I log in i'll give you a run down of my current DL setup. And yes i'm very patient for parts, parts are your life or death in space. A Chassis will modify the engine a bit but everything else depends upon your equipment. Also You HAVE to use your flight comp, and atleast a V4. Run Reactor overload 3 Engine overload 3 Weapon capacitor overcharge 3 Weapon overload 3 and Cap to shield shunt 3. Some people use CtSS 4 but I like 3 because I can keep fireing. Also I never said I did it solo, I had 2 freinds along one in a TIE/IN and one in a Interceptor. Both survived.

I'm doing all my Corsec mission with my dunelizard and a Master Shipwright friend. He makes me the parts as i desire, experimentating in the fields I want and I have an 86k mass dune (some amazin success and critical success while experimentating in the deed)
Cheers

I'm anything but patient, my source for parts were loot picked up during my career (including rewards) and a master shipwright, there was absolultly NOTHING special about the parts (crafted weapons, shields, armors, a subpar capacitor, the reward engine etc) I used for my first freelance acing (RSF) with Chenir. And I consider myself an average pilot, there's quite some pilots on my server which are lightyears above my abilities
My only advantage might have been that I aced A LOT harder career with a lot weaker ships (imperial navy pilot on Kope) before I started with the freelancer career

they grouped with an ace or some other high-roller who did the mission for them.
Heck, you can beat the whole tree in your starter ship if you want.

Yeah about that i'm actually the guy that SLC comes to when they are having trouble. No I don't think I've ever grouped with another master to get a mission done. I will use lower or even teired guys on occasion, they can use the xp. Ok I forgot I traded my DL for a heavy scyk. Still it's a crafted ship any freelance can fly. part rundown on the way. It has all my DL stuff in it so should still be valaid and i've soloed to 4333 now with this ship. Got to log in parts coming in a sec.

I soloed upto themaster missionwith my starsider alt in a dunelizard, and that char was started from scratch... no trustfund to call on for cash, no other suppliers of equipment other than what the dunelizard could get as loot or i could buy from the bazaar or vendors.
when i finally did the vette i was in a group of 3 but I did the gruntwork... took out guns 5,6,7 before the others had taken out anything at all, cleared away most of the escort fighters myself prior to that after watching the one ace in the group get blown to bits by them.
in short, i dont think i have had such crappy equipment during a master mission ever before.. (and i have done quite a few on eclipse.. solo and helping others) but the ship performs well.
and to whoever posted some stats on the lizzy: dunelizard has 0.95 speed mod not 0.85.

Plus it doesn't turn full tilt at 100% throttle.
But it DOES have two gun mounts, and if you're an RE maniac, that makes all the difference in the world.
Or treat it likea TIE Advanced with 20K extra mass ![]()
you can squeeze plenty of good stuff in there..

At tier-3, the only REd parts I had on my Dunie were a L2 capacitor and my post-nerf L6 engine. At tier-4, I squeezed in my REd reward shield, but I think I could have survived with a Mark IV. I guess it helps that I am a shipwright though, makes it easier to tweak.

I mastered TIE Pilot in a TIE Bomber... it can be done with lower level ships... and actually I think of myself as at a disadvantage due to the high mass of the ship, but I was still able to duke it out with the best of them, and claim my helmet and jacket.
It was not until months later that I finally retired my venerable bomber in favor of the TIE Oppressor.
And I tell you what... it takes a special type of pilot ot not only learn, but love the heavy mass ships, let alone be highly successful with them.
My hat goes off to any Imperial pilot who can pull it off as I did.
Things that worked for me....
highest speed engine (I had a 922 RE)
great shields (close to 2k front / back)
guns guns guns...
and a flight computer tricked out with overloads 3 on everything, including some of the shield programs. (cap to shield shunt came out after I got ace).
