It has 42 turrets and 10 million HPshields, but inquiring minds want to know... did they put in a loot box?

You know, I honestly have no clue. Never even thought to look that up. You would certainly think so, then again the Dev team could easily say it isn't meant for combat so none onboard.

If my toon was high enough on TC I'd test it for ya.

Well if Asteroid Bandits attack...then it is in combat.

The Y8 does NOT have a lootbox on TC.

Me thinks they hid the loot box in the escape pod...to get to it find the escape pod terminal and activate it....heh

They'll get around to the loot box eventually...where else are the astroid chunks gonna go? If not in the loot box then all loot/astroids will probably default to the ship owner's inventory.

Oooo... asteroid chunks... I did not thinkabout that.

Ok, so no loot box. Where do the asteroid chunks go then?

Cargo hold.

The Asteroid Chunks usually go directly into inventory whilst the Asteroid Resources stay in Cargo Hold.

Which, unless my memory is extremely faulty, the system informs you a "strange(something like that) object has been found and has been placed in your inventory.

So, yah, default.

Beg and plead now for a loot box, or we'll never see one. Get it in there while they're working on the ship.

The Y-8, even in the notes before ROTW, was designed to be a mining ship for the sole purpose of space mining, not to become the next super-fortress with a cargo hold. I can perfectly see why a loot box is not needed; this was not intended to become a combat ship. You converted it into a combat ship; good for you. It was not intended to be a combat ship, and I highly doubt in the future they will add one.

To answer the OP's question about chunks, yes any unusual asteroid chunks get placed in the pilot's inventory. Fighting bandits is part of space mining; it does not mean that the ship is a combat vessel, rather it can repel attackers trying to steal your profit.

I have to say, it may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't believe the Y-8 should have a loot box, for the sole reason that it should not become *the* POB vessel to fly. Personally, I'd be just as happy to see the gun mounts allowed to have Mining Lasers or Tractor Beams only...

/agree

It's a mining ship, not a warship... it's quite ironic thatthe convoy of Y-8's that need an escort in the original quest would now stack more firepower than a fleet of Decimators, never mind the single fighter sent to watch overthem.
