The name says it. Since near the launch of JTL, I've only found one component that is level appropriate (stats between those of L8 and 10.) It was a droid interface with speed 12.9. Devs, why do you even bother spamming us with odd level loot if it's worthless? Can't odd level loot at least be madelevel appropriate. On most L9 compsI loot, their worse than 8, 6, and even L7. Gentlemen, start your SOE flaming.....

Yes, I know this has been know since launch.

I'm not going to flame but I have been intrueged with the quirks of odd lvl loot.
I f anything I think its a good thing..I mean it narrows down what is worth looking for and what isnt.

One time I got this level 9 engine. It had 63 speed, and 57 YPR stats, along with 33k mass.

It seems fairly obvious to me. Even level loot is good stuff. Odd level loot is a visual reminder that you can get stuff from shipwrights, too. Think it's just a coincidence that shipwright parts are odd level?

L9 blasters get about as good as a Borstel, but far heavier (on average, I think I REed an L9 with 31,xxx mass way back in December that I've since gotten rid of), but L9 weapons can have refires of .30x or .29-.28x post-RE, making them ideal weapons for newbie-carriers.

On another odd note, do you think the devs were trying to encourage us to use L7 loot by making the starmap shield RE L7? I have a L7 shield that can cut its mass in half.....

Some odd level stuff comes out with amazing results though. Level 7 reactors and weapons, I have a level 3 engine that's on par with 6's, that sort of thing. Really an odd mix of stats.

It seems weapons, shields, droid inferfaces, and armour are fairly level-appropriate in odd levels ... other things usually go up for sale, Of course, the heavier armour does too...

By the same token, boosters and capacitors aren't usually worth upgrading past level 2 or 3 for most ships, and at master everyone is running the level 8 reward shield these days.

I'm not completely sure where DI's fall. I'm still using my two prenerfs, although I've started working on a level 7 RE based off a reward DI.

Yeah some components are better at even levels some while some are better odd or at least worth the mass.

I believe the intention is to limit 'good' items dropped oftenly. This is to make the game a bit fair.

The starmap shield is supposed to be level 8. it is a bug if you see it as a level 7 RE blah now you get a high front and back level 7 shield lol.
