Thread: Does anyone use the B Wing ?
Bwing is actually pretty decent for jousting if you get a decent engine in it. Try getting something above 100 speed though.
They really have to code convergence on fighters to make them more effective...They'll get around to that eventually.
As for load out...well you can bascially fit anything you want in it. What puzzles me is how come each gun on the B-wing(expect the bottom gun) is just a single shot instead of the paired advantage that most of the other fighters have?
I've just gone back to the B-Wing for Vette runs. Gave it it's first test last night.
I Have a 3.3k main Cannon, 2x 2.8 on the wings and a 1.6 (.760 V shields) on the bottom. All this coupled with a 91.1, 75 PYR engine, 2k shields, and 2k Armour and then MK IV Protons and Mk II Space bombs, makes it a Vette killer. I went toe-toe with the Vette and came off best last night. The SB's make all the difference, and having so much firepower to strafe with makes it an awsome ship against the big guns. Funny though, it doesn't like TIE advanced and Aggressors, they tend to tie me in knots ![]()
Yup, damn good mining ship. lol
Hadn't thought about it, but he has a point here.
Just paint space with lasers and bombs. That's about all I can think of.
Reminds me ofa posterin the new CS:S Office Map -
SPAM - What you lack in quality, you make up for with quantity.
After all, one of those lasers is bound to hit when you're spraying 4 guns at once. ![]()
Hehe. Against the AI TIEs if you slow your B down to about 300-400 speed you force them to come at you head on every time. Or in the agressor case, you turn in a smaller arc as they use max speed almost constenly. Same thing goes with most ships, slow down to lower your turning arc to get in behind them. As for weapons, I use 2x Disruptor with about2.8k max and a .94 armor effectivness, and 2x Ion with same dmg but .94 Shield Effective. For Ordinance, depends on mission. for the vette its all mark II spacebombs. for anything else, it's 1 mark IV Proton, and 1 mark II spacebomb. Get a good engine. mines like 108 speed with a 62ish YPR. For Gunobats, go at them full speed fire like crazy let loose the bombs then booster out. sometimes you'll get them in 1 pass. My shields are about 2.2k with about a 15 regen. armor about 2.6k. get a good droid and interfacfe. Cap to shield shunt 2 helps alot with the B. so does Weapon Overload 4 and Engine overload 4 (will have to use Reactor overload 4 here most likely too). Also the Cap overload is fun as when using that you can fire all guns constanly with a good RE cap.
can you tell I love my B??
The sheer firepower you can bring to the field with a B-wing is staggering.
I've got mine set up with a 117 speed engine, 4 3k dmg blasters, and 2 mark 4 protons.
Add 2800 f/b shields reactorO4 capO4 EngineO3 WeaponO3 cap-to-shield4
Take down T5 gunboats in 2 passes.
With 1200+ cruising speed you can turn quick at 600+ and eat vettes for lunch.
Just don't expect to PVP in one unless your target is distracted.
When I first got mine I thought I'd play around with it for a bit, but when I went to equip it I saw 4 guns and 2 torps. (As my mains an Imp ace I about @$#%)
All in all you have to want to fly a B-wing for it to work, just keep an X-wing in the hangar when you feel like a change of pace.
On a side, I never even unpacked my A-wing, the Xwing is IMO far superior.

And a huge point at that.
Only real advantage the B-wing has over the advanced X-wing is the extra missile slot, really. Other than that the Advance X-wing will probably work better for PvE for most people anyway. Only time I ever use my B-wing now is really for nostalgic reasons, or when I feel like only attacking tier 5 gunboats, which isn't often.
Strangely enough, the B-wing is a super mining ship. Heh...
