I am working on my ace pilot missions, the quest giver now tells me to destroy a corellian corvette in kesell system. Can anyone give me any tip on how to destroy them? Last time i was in kesell system, i saw it has some escort.

I'm planning to use my heavy TIE with mostly level 7 equipment instead of my JSF.

thanks

Fighter escorts are easily taken care of, the gunboats are fun, and the vette itself can be tricky. What I do is this:

• Speed in for your first attack, target the vette and destroy it's gun5 in your first pass, making sure to shield shunt / iff scramble or whatever to get you out of there alive. If you are imp just send a bstrike after gun5 while staying out fo the way.

• Next step - take out the fighter escort which should have followed you away from the vette after your initial pass. They are weaksauce, should be no problem.

• Now the fun begins. If the gunboats are following directly behind the vette you're in luck, sidle up to them from 600m out behind and below (this is the vettes blind spot) and stop at ~ 540m away from the nearest Gunboat. At this range you can shoot them but they can't shoot you. Blow them to hell.

• Now for the 'Vette, just drive straight up it's bum after killing the gunboats, making sure to stay in it's blind spot (right behind it's huge engines). Use missiles ( you packed some missiles, right?) to take out the shields, then engine and reactor. If you have any missiles left do the bridge from the same spot - otherwise you might be able to nose your way across the ships hull until you're in firing range of the bridge.

Once the bridge is gone, it will explode in a nice shower of debri - make sure you take some screenies!

NB If at any point the gunboats / vette start to loop or jink and manouver all over the place, hit iff scramble, boosters, shield shunt, whatever but get the hell out of there. They will sraighten up eventually and you can move in again for the kill.

Oh, and theres also an awesome guide to doing this in the Pilot FAQ's, which are stickied at the top.

How many gunboats are with the corvette? When i was at kesell system, I saw two gunboats with the corvette, but it was exiting the system when i was just about to attack

There are only two gunboats, they're no threat to you if you pick them off at 545-555 meters. Its really not that hard if you've got some missiles... unless the corvette starts rolling and turning around, in which case... RUN!

when u do the vette lure the fighters away then use B" to take out gun 5 once thats done and u have taken the fighter escorts out take out the 2 gunboatsmaking sure u stay behind/underneath the vette. then use bomber strike again to target other systems. this works well as i solo'ed it and it was soo much fun.

Did this happen to anyone? After I took out the fighters and got first gunboat to about 40%, a bunch of TIE just showed up out of no where and started to attack the corvette. I didn't know what was happening, so I destroyed the first gunboat and tag the second, and moving onto the corvette. The corvette was destroyed eventually and i got the credit, but at the rate I was going, I could have taken the corvette by myself.

Heh once youve done it once its like riding a bike, i find bucking gunboats harder than vettes simply because they know how to turn their ship
Once you get good at it you can take out a vette in about 2 mins or less with only blasters.

I know better than to think I'll ever manage a vette in 2 minutes ... I set up my attacks very carefully, and that isn't good for speed.

I like to draw the fighters first but you don't need to mess with them at all if you don't want to.

Once the fighters are dead I also go for gun #5

Once G5 is gone you have a clear shot for the shields. It's much quicker to use missiles on them but if you don't have missiles blasters will have to do. I like to sit low under her belly and off to the side so I can have a clear shot at the shields and not present myself as a target. If she rolls be ready to move.

Once the shields are out you can kill the engine and after that she is pretty much figt wrapped for you. I usually don't even bother with the gunboats or the other guns on the vette. But I fly like a maniac so I can get away with it. If you don't want to risk getting killed then do take out the gunboats but you don't have to.

I'll usually do a few runs on the reactor, but again, if you have missiles they will help.

Then the bridge is all yours.

There are a few different ways to do it but gun #5 is the key. Of course you don't have to take out G5 either but it helps. i've been able to kill her just by hitting her componants and not killing a single escort, gunboat, or gun. Again, I fly like a maniac and I would not recommend that tactic for the kids at home.

And of corurse BS3 is always very helpful but not needed.

And like the other pilots have already said, your first couple of vettes will be a little rough and scarry. But once you get a good system down you'll be able to hit then whenever you want and impress your friends, neighbors, and rookie pilots (especially rookie pilots)

Once you get bored with doing vettes in your fighter (and you will get bored eventually) try them in a POB ship. They usually go down much quicker but if they roll on you things can get very interesting very quickly
