Afternoon all

got rebel ace the other day and have been playing around with the B wing. Im very slowly getting to grips with the sliding on turns etc but I'd greatly appreciate any tips you've found useful when flying them. I really want to master this ship for a few reasons, as good as that heavy x wing is I'd rather fly something else as I'm really not fond of the x wing look and i like to fly something a little different to most others.

Unfortunatly it seems like the heavy x might be a shade more effecient than the b wing as it has only 1 less gun slot and handles alot better. not certain on that though.

Im also half tempted to pickup an a wing again to fly. (i only really fly PvE missions etc, not a pvp fan) as i've loved A wings since the X vs tie fighter games series.

but for now i want to give the b wing a good run for its money so please pass on your tips!

Big Engine, Big Reactor, Big Shield.

Go with four speed experimented Advanced Blasters and a pair of SpaceBomb IIs. Unless you are a futhermucking god of twitch, don't worry about PvP in these things, it ain't worth the effort for anything other than bragging rights. Some ultra-incredible level 10 engines might put you into the low end of contention, but you're really working harder than you need to to make it happen.

currently i have 3 lvl 8 reward re'd blasters in it and a lvl 10 re'd blaster. once i get my 4th lvl 8 reward from a friend they will all be lvl 8. they are all around 24-26k mass. and almost 3.9k max dmg. so firepower wise im set. I also have a reward RE'd shield in there which its 2550 front and back with a 14.8 ish recharge. so set there.

its more the handling im struggling with. I have a 88.8 speed 74 ish YPR reward engine in there which will have to do till I've the parts to RE my 98 speed level 10 engine.

Im not at all concerned with pvp as i never partake but i could use any tips on compensating for the drift etc.

Don't move the stick faster then the turning rate.

It takes half a second to move the stick from full left to full right, but the B-wing takes much longer to slow down from the left turn and speed up into the right turn. I find it very discoördinating to have my hand tell me I'm full right and my eyes telling me I'm moving left. If I move the stick in tune with the turning rate I'm rid of all the overshooting.

It takes a very light touch handling wise.

Over-correcting was always the problem for me. Kind of like steering a boat in GTA Vice City. Very Easy to over-correct.

Takes a light touch and keep an eye on your prey. Pay attention to how it is rolling and turning, anticipate its movement.

Also throttle down to around 1/3 or 1/4 for better maneuvering. If it starts to get too far a head of you a quick boost might work as well as fiddling with your thrust level, but then when the boost goes off you'll be back andable to maneuver well.

Very tricky ship, makes quick work of gunboats though.

Though also I think part of the problem is in tactics. Trying to stay behindTIE Adv or Interceptorsis going to be tough in a B-Wing. Much easier to set up a head-to-head run instead.

X-Wing would probably be best overall for PvE though (out of the classic Reb ships). I like using my B-Wing when I'm helping someone else out with a tough mission. Only trick then is to make sure you don't blow up something you were only supposed to disable.

as far as shields go, i think your on the low-end there. your gonna get hit a lot, no matter how incredible you are. I had a set of shields that were 50k mass, and 4800 front and back. you need somethin like that. As for engines, top speed should not be a concern, because no matter how good the engines are, you wont be winning any races. i would go for PYR instead. somewhere in the 75-80 range

Master Rifleman, Master Bounty Hunter, Combat medic 4000. Its a template, and i want mine back.

Exactly what I would have said. How do you put a diaeresis over a vowel (ö) without copying it from elsewhere?

Since the shields adjust back to their regular values when you land you can no "create" a shield like that.

While it is possible to RE a L10 shield that is better than an REd reward L8 shield, it is rare. I know 1 pilot who has done it legitimately.

US international keyboard setting, hit " follow by a vowel and you get ö, or ' for ó or ` for ò or ^ for ô or ~ for õ, you get the idea. Takes some getting used to at first to hit space after " to get the actual quotation marks.

anyone suggest turning down your joystick sensitivity? to match as closely as possible to the ship's ability?

I tooled the b wing up last night and got a duty for some black suns and headed to dantooine space. and i wasnt mega impressed but it was ok. then i decided i'd give myself a real baptism of fire, declared overt at the reb station and headed for a large group of tier 4 imperial fighters.

AndI was VERY pleasently suprised. By the time i was done I was over the moon with a ship. against the imperial ships its firepower really came into its own and was making mincemeat of them, even the agressors. Even though i had to be gentle on the steering i didnt really run into mega problems with any of the fighters. And took down decimators in the blink of an eye.

Really enjoying it so far and cant wait to try it some more tonight. Against the black suns it didnt grab me but against the imperials it really came into its own and helped me learn its qwerky steering better.

if you are going to fly a bwing i would recomend lifting weights, i was almost sore after flying mine the first time.
