Thread: So is the JSF unbalanced, or is it just me?

I guess I should be very careful of my wording here. I love my JSF to death, but since I got it, my skills seem to be twice what they were. There are missions I could have never taken before, that I can fly now, and not blink. Is it just experience, or is the ship that good? I don't know. I mean, I am flying Kessel against tier 5's and solo them like they were level one's.

Really, I am not trying to brag, but I was wondering how many others have found this to be true. Is the ship a major contributor in how well you do?

Welcome to the pilot forums? This has been an issue of much debate - I think the great majority of pilots wholeheartedly agrees with you. Seems like most people won't even fly them anymore.

All unbalancing aside, I just never found them very interesting to fly. I like flying tie fighters and freelance ships more.

Thanks. I don't post alot here, mainly since only till recently I have only flown as a side game. Lately, it has been my main obsession. I am 4343 and only couple more days till Master, I hope.

Yup, it's unbalanced. Higher mass, more gunpoints, smaller hitbox and better maneuverability than the best ships stock JtL has to offer. No downsides.

As has been proven 8*10^12 times on this forum previously, some knucklehead will now come along and spew out a stream of invective chock full of terms like 'suck it up', 'adapt', 'anyone can fly it'and my personal favorite 'I'm a jedi so it's a roleplaying thing for me', so you probably want to stop reading this thread now.

Maybe not. Maybe you're into that.

Sorry, I wasnt trying to drag up sore feelings. I just thought I would post my experience. Anyway, I appreciate that everyone is not just bashing me for posting. I hope to find some really helpful incite as I reach for the final few legs to Master.

Errrrr I'm finding that my Rihkxyrk is better than my ETA-2.

My ETA-2 is a lot of fun to fly for the sheer feeling but my Rihkxyrk just out does it in in everything but manoeuvrability.

Hey I think we made some glue

Hehe sorry to be a little sarcastic, and thanks for taking it in good spirits. But as i'm sure you get the feeling this has been gone over alot of times, and yes the JSF/Bel-22 are unbalanced, but not overpowered (least that's my view).

In PvE, once you hit a certain level of competency behind the stick, damage output becomes more important than everything else by an order of magnitude.

We usually talk about balance in terms of PvP, but actually the OP is talking PvE. The figurine on top of the wedding-cake of balance in that arena is the Heavy-X.

Yep, they just had to add a few more "hero" ships. At least the YT takes some effort to be effective with, and at least the Firespray is still difficult to attain.

But now we got these little weasle "hero" ship running around. At least the Vaksai takes some effort to get (solo)!

Whilst your skills appear to be twice what they where previously, in actuality after flying the JSF for a while they will be half of what they where. I flew a JSF for a while and when I went back to "real" iconic star wars ships I suddenly realised that the JSF was so forgiving I was crap in space. Now I dont ly it, but I am thinking of using it as a mining vessel.

As it stands now, if I see an enemy player in a JSF/BSF clone ship I think they will be significantly inferior pilots, and I am rarely proven wrong. I love vaping them in my Xwing or Ywing. Got to give the credit to all those good pilots who know how to fly and manage mass, and actually make it look like the Imperial Navy elite is out there, as well as the freelancer types too.
