Thread: Tier 6 Fighters in DS?

I wouldn't hesitate to attack 10 to 12 tier 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10. The AI is stupid. All it does is raise my time to kill them, "forcing" me into a RotW chassis to kill them faster. I doubt we'll see any major AI improvements so I'm hoping for a rebalance between the RotW and JTL ships and the addition of several PvP incentives.

lately, i've been of the frame of mind that the "on a rail" gunboats are actually bugs. don't ask why i think that, i'm just leaning more and more towards it.

gunboats and novas bearing down on you with a fighter escort would go a long way to making deep space substantially more difficult.

that being said, i would love some "ace" NPC spawns (tier 6, or whatever) to fight, or even more variety in ship chassis out there. get some arcs, jsfs, igis, b22s andfreelancer ships out there as well. not a glut of them, but a bit of variety.

There are far to many JSF/BSFs in space in player ahnds as it is.

If there were no GBs involved i could think i could take on 30 or 40 of them at once since they suck at shooting and moving. Just pick them off 1 by 1. i doubt t6 ships would make any difference. They would just take slightly longer to kill. Well, if you added ARCs then it might spice it up a little

I'd rather have DS have duties assignable through the ISD and Freedom Station.

At least if you do T5 duties in DS and the bosses are Novae or gunboats, you don't stand anything to lose decaywise like the Kashyyykian T5 duties if (and when) you die.

Also, running duties in an open PvP zone would be EXCELLENT training.

Death doesn't fly a JSF anymore...he flies a Gallente Thorax in EVE Online

I don't think it's the fact that they travel on rails so much as they don't utilize their lower turrets, especially the Novas.

Novas utilize their lower turrets, it's just that they're bugged so both turrets protect the same half.

I they made the ability for players to reach T6 somehow.... T6 NPCs would only be worth it if they dropped level appropriate loot, something in the game which is already borked.

Just curious what other pilots would think of this. Deep space is Ace pilots only anyway, and at this point are there any Ace pilots out there who see a flight of Tier 5 fighters, are outnumbered 10 to 1 or more, and hesitate to engage?

Now, I'm just talking in the hypothetical about fighters here, not gunboats or Decis/Novas. And I'm only thinking of adding Tier 6 NPCs in addition to the current Tier 5s that patrol DS, not making all NPCs in DS Tier 6s. Plus, Tier 6s would only spawn in DS, nowhere else.

I'd love it if 1 in 12 fighters in DS was an "NPC ACE" Tier 6, maybe the squadron leader. These fighters could have the same AI as current, just maybe fly a little faster, turn a little sharper, hit a little harder, etc. Basically up the threat level all around. As an extra nasty surprise maybe Tier 6 pilots could randomly use select factional droid commands like Front/Rear Shield Adjust or CtSS, something analogous to what's been done with NPC ground pounders recently and the use of specials. These Tier 6s would also only drop lvl 9 or 10 loot, when they do drop, due to the increased difficulty.

It seems to me like this wouldn't be too difficult to add into the game, and would definitely up the threat level while loot farming/faction farming/venting squint pilots' atmo for kicks.

Maybe this concept has been broached before, but I figured I'd throw it out there and see what you flyboys think. Yea? Nay? Go Frak yourself, Kiernan?
