This is the Unconfirmed Speed Racer X bug. I say unconfirmed because I don't know exactly what happened to occur this.
We were PvPing and a Jedi Starfighter (most likely hit with a missile) had heavy damage to its components. I did a /vrepairother in my Heavy Z95. I am a master Pilot, and I had Engine, Reactor, and Capacitor Overloads three on my ship at the time. It then took my engine down to -1707%. I was near the Dathomir space station so I repaired myself. It jumped up to 100% and my speed immediately jumped to 5120. I lost connection when I tried to load fraps. Landed and then relaunched from Corellia after changing my reactor (it was 0% and no its to repair) Repaired at Corellia Station and it gave me a speed of 1400 well above my norm of about 980 with overloads. I then vrepaired another JSF and it took it down to about 960 or so. I then repaired at the Dathomir Station again and it gave put me back up to 5120.
Now obviously this is awsome because I can go from one side to the otherside of the system in about 10 seconds. But my YPR are insane so I really can't fight with the ship and you'll see from the following video.
If you can please confirm the Speed Racer X bug pleae do.

You have to see it. I was parked next to him at the station, and he was like "watch this"
I didn't see much. He was like 5k away in a blink!

Yes the Alliance Research and Development have taken massive strides in the past few months with its engine and weapons technology.
Obviously this is a prototype and not suitable for combat.
(hahaha this is too funny, we just put it in a Y8 and it flys around exactly the same but a bit sluggish during acceleration but awsome!)

think i can get a peek sometime when you're on?
how did the missile catch you at the end by the way? that video was wild.
