Thread: Disable Nebula Button

Nebula Pluses:

They look good

Nebula Minuses:

Make it look more "Baylon 5-ee" and less "Star Wars-ee"

Creates aleast 60% of space lag

Nebula lightening bolt looks very out-of-place

Ultimately, as cool as nebula are in this game, the slider to reduce density isnt enough. Nebula and nebula effects such as the lightening bolt cause the majority of lag in this game and I think its time we were able to just completly turn them off if we wish too. This would heavily increase system performance on a large majority of players.

Yeah, the "space lightening" always reminds me of Star Trek I

I'd like to see an option to disable the nebula sounds... I don't mind the graphics, my computer can handle them... the lightning burst sound is just incredibly annoying.

I'd like to not only have an option to disable the nebula INSIDE the space sectors, but also the nebula in the background. The space sectors look so ugly with all that crap floating around, not to mention unrealistic. The only reason it'd have nebula gases that close to a planet is if the star went supernova, in which case there would be NO planets.

For me its three issues:

1) None of the Star Wars movies, even the 3 most recent, have Nebula in them AT ALL. If there is even a hint of a Nebula in the 3 most recent its such an un-noticeable streak in the distance thats its not noticeable

2) Its too much. Lok looks good with one blured streak of blue Nebula, but to have nebula in EVERY sector? Its just graphicaly too much

3) It really is the biggest form of lag, especialy Kashyyyk that is praticaly unplayable on my machine because the entire system is one big red nebula

I really would just like to turn it all off

I wouldn't mind some tactics being thrown in there, though. Some games I have played, some areas like that cause radar to malfuction...and you either cannot get a solid reading of ships in it (the blip dances around a lot), or no reading of anything at all. Would be a good place to "hide" to get away for you smugglers, or perhaps an ambush point for you pirates
Normally you can use radar to feel completely safe and know exactly what's there....however, in that game I played...you really never knew what was in there unless you went in, yourself...was kind of creepy.

One Nebula? Ok. Maybe 2 systems each with 1 Nebula? I can accept that. But Nebula in ALL sectors except deep space? Some systems even have over 4 of them... its too much.

It always bugged me how much stuff they've packed into each of the 10 sectors. Space is called "Space" for a reason and although they say "its adding content" I would much rather have competly empty systems with 1 space station that holds quests and "content" than not being able to fly 2km without running into an aggro spawn.

Why are Witches flying around the Dathomir system? The entire system is undergoing an Imperial blockade. The ONLY ships you should see there are Imperial.

Why are Rebels and other factions in Endor? The System was supposed to be remote and void of activity save for the Forest Moon. The Empire also has the entire system under a secure lockdown ... no ships can enter or leave without getting scanned and/or shot to pieces by Imperial patrols.

In my mind, all static spawns EXCEPT for spawns in the Tatoo, Corellia, Kessel, DeepSpaceand Naboo systems should be removed from space. Instead, Dathomir, Yavin etc should only have Imperial ships flying around with maybe 1 or 2 Black Sun spawns here an there. Point is, space should be "spaced"

But thats not the subject here. The subject is Nebula ... and there should be a button to completly turn them off and another button to just turn off the lightening bolt. That way, players can chose to have them or not which is far better than not having the choice at all

Along with Nebula, those annoying debris feilds that are filled with hundreds of solar panels from TIE fighters and the noses of Xwings. Whats up with that!? It all should have been pulled in by a grivity feild by now and burned up on reentry, spiralled off on some random course or been ground to dust in the asteroid feilds they are most often found in. I hate how I can go diving into an asteroid feild and see all that extra junk. It adds nothing to the game but frustration.

I'll agree with you. Nebula's look cool, but all they do is create lag, even with that density slider all the way down.

And we've seen almost all of these systems in the movies, not a single nebula in any of them.

... and my astronomy is a little rusty, but I think that it would be almost impossible for a planet that's capable of supporting life to exist in a nebula......

Correct, Nebula are the "birthplace" of stars...well one of the places they are born...and they are HUGE...one would not fit in a solar system, but would in fact be many solar systems in the nebula. Adding Nebula was a bad idea thought up by someone that clearly does not understand space. Have a huge Nebula as a backdrop like the planets in 1 or 2 systems, but a couple in each system...and we cna fly in and out of them because they are small? That's just sad.
