"Oh Star Ravager, how you do'st taunt me!"
So last night I casually related to a guildmate that I am now a 4/4/4/4 Smuggler's Alliance Freelancer pilot. He asked me quickly "Why the heck aren't you master yet ?!". I told him that I was still working on the hefty 7.5 million XP required to GET the Master box titled "Flight Artistry". (Silly me, I did NOT realize that I did not NEED to get all this XP.. just do 2 missions).
So I pick up the first mission from the Rebel Admiral on Corellia, and he sends me to kill 30 TIE's in Kessel. Quickly eliminated, with help of this guildmate. I hussle back , get the next step.. "Seek & Destroy the Imperial Corvette". "Kick ass" I think to myself. We both hussle back out to Kessel, where my Guildmate announces that the Star Ravager has 'just' spawned. We beeline for the convoy and my guildmate tells me to sit back while he clears Gunboats... something he did at expedient speed.
He then disables the Star Ravager, and tells me what to shoot and how to shoot it. I start making my diving run on the Reactor.. get a couple of shots in.. and another group of Rebel players swoop in and start HAMMERING on the thing. I turn back around for another run, and got 2 solid shots in on the bridge.
The Star Ravager explodes.. and I get zero credit. *sigh*
Apparently the other group that swung in at the last moment got all the credit. We sat around for another 2 hours waiting for the Corvette to spawn again, but no luck. Oh the frustration!

Bah that sucks, and for future reference all you need is to 'kill' one component to get credit and be near it when it blows up.

Yeah, I dropped the Reactor myself... and I was about 50m away from the bridge when the other group swooped in and detonated it. Apparently one of their team DID get credit for it, so I'm guessing they dropped the Bridge. I'm just not sure tho.

In my experience the only requirements for completing the mission is being in system and having a group member at least do some damage to the corvette.
Are you sure that you didn't complete the mission? Is it still in your datapad/journal?
If it is, that sucks.

Unfortunately I am 100% positive on this. I never got a text update on screen or in chat window for 'mission successful' or similar. It vanished from my Journal.. and when I went back to the Admiral on Corellia, he gave me the mission AGAIN telling me that I needed to 'bounce back from my failures' or something. EXTREMELY aggrivating.
I know for a fact that I did damage to the Reactor and atleast 1 weapon, and I was firing off shots at the bridge when it went up. All in all I'm going to be really miffed if the Star Ravager doesn't respawn again tonight for another attempt.

That seems weird. As long as you at least scratch the paint, you should get credit for the mission. And the only way the mission should disappear is if you tried and failed to kiil the 'vette, but you saw it blow up. I would contact a CSR, but you'll probably kill it before you get a response. Next time, try to get any gate crashers to group with you. If you were there first that would seem to be the polite thing to do on their part.

I definitely scratched the paint on it, yes. I single-handedly dropped the reactor, and busted up one of the weapons coming into the fight.
I had 1 guildmate with me in squadron at the time, and when the wing of Rebels came swooping in.. first thing he tried was to send them polite tells requesting they group up with us since we were there first.
They sternly ignored all messages and shouts, and just polished the thing off.
This evening I'm going to try and recruit more guildmates, so we can drop the monster QUICK.

Is it me, or is space becoming a less polite place lately?

Yeah it has. Last night I had my first unpleasant run in with the "/launchmissile" macro. Someone decided they didn't like me mining at 'their' asteroid in Corellia-space, so they put that emote/command on a 1 second looping macro and just autofollowed me around.
The graphics spamming from it was hosing my machine so badly I had to hyperjump out.
And yes... I sent in a ticket to the CSR. "We cannot do anything about such behavior unless we directly witness it or can track it in logs"... and guess what? That emote leaves no log evidence. YAY.

I guess you didn't read the bit where I said that I DID go back to him, he just gave me the mission one more time and said I had to "bounce back from my failures"?
I 100% know I failed.

It must have been something related to the different groups or something. I guess the only thing you can do is kill it faster, like you said. Good luck the next time you try!
