Modified Imperial Ships
We begin our look with the modified Imperial ships that will appear in the expansion pack courtesy of Darth Vader himself.
TIE Advanced (Modified)
The TIE Advanced prototype starship was apparently designed with input from the galaxy's most deadly engineer, the Sith lord Darth Vader. The prototype has given rise to several advanced models of TIE fighter, including this, the "modified" TIE Advanced fighter, which features an experimental propulsion system.
TIE Fighter (Modified)
The "modified" TIE Fighter is a result of the successful TIE Advanced prototype, and it features solar panels to hasten the recovery of expended power used by the ship's various systems.
(red and black tie interceptor)
TIE Interceptor (Royal Guard Version)
This more powerful and more maneuverable TIE Interceptor is much rarer in trade space, since it bears the crimson color of the Emperor's most elite troops.

Too many good ships. *drool*
They gotta up that ship limit for us. I want all the new TIEs and the Jedi starfighter and an ARC-130.
Make that double for the Jedi-starfighter. You can paint those babies!!! Use poor Imperials get gimped both on mass AND on looks. (Yeah, I know. *whiiiine*)
Glad to see more content!!! And you can bet that the Royal TIE Interceptor requires a quest.

Ok... well, guess three Ace's isn't enough! I'm gonna have to go back Imp when this comes out. (must... have... Royal Guard Intercepter...)
Although, I guess it matters if the Nuetrals are getting the Grievous/Jedi/ARC-170
Seems to me Imp's and Reb's get up grades, Nuetrals get the EP3 ships... (though I've been known to be wrong before!)

very very interesting. aside from the fact that it's cool as hell, the implications of this change are worth noting. one of the downsides to damage reduction is that lighter mass ships would be useless and imperials would feel the brunt of that. this effectively negates that downside, provided the difference between the normal intereceptor/advanced/tie and the new models is significant. too early to speculate about mechanics changes as a result of this though, i suppose.
are these new models going to replace the older ships or be master level ships? i wonder what the propulsion modification means. a 1.25 speed modifier? what about the solar power thing for the ties? fascinating.

All TIEs are solar powered, thats what the wings are, huge solar panels. They use reactors in SWG for the sake of balance, same way they also have shields in SWG.

heh thanks, but what does the increased efficiency of the solar panels on the normal tie mean? a bonus to reactor energy? a euphamism for increased mass?

I doubt a reactor energy modifier, maybe mass, but it could just be flavor text.
