I post too much, so whats one more post....

I dream of a JTL with the E/W/S management system in lieu of droid commands. Perhaps out of nostlgia, with rose tinted glasses. At any rate, three questions to ya:

1.) Which system do you prefer? E/W/S or droid commands?

2.) Any clue why the E/W/S wasn't used in JTL? (just asking, maybe someone really knows, dev response would be great but they dont vist here anymore)

3.) Lastly, what effect do you think the E/W/S system would have on gameplay in PvE and PvP?

E / W / S sounds better than the system we currently use. They need to add the blaster fire adjustments (like quad-linked blastersfor X-Wings) as well. Another thing we need is for our weapons to actually orient towards the target we're locked on.

No one who will post knows.

It would certainly make for some interesting fights.

The EWS system would have been a nice. However i think they left it out because people got so used to the buffiing system on the ground that the devs thought they would be swamped with complaints about having to manage power and it would have driven ground players away.

I'd have been happy if they blatantly plagiarized (or licensed) the flight models and game mechanics of the previous X-Wing games. Alas...

Sounds like what I've seen in the movies and read in the books. It screams Star Wars. No wonder they left it out.

I'd much rather prefer that to the space specials and droid commands.

Thats cool, a much better give and take than our current droid programs which don't really have any draw backs. Yes I know, they decay, but only irrepairably if using overload 4 commands

Droid Commands have drawbacks. Or should have.

But WeaponOverload is bugged and the negative effects are actually positive (it should use more energy and more capacitor, but reduces both), and Capacitor Overload doesn't use more energy either.

If they would then you couldn't run everything on highest mode, and WO3 would eat through your capacitor faster than even your CO4 can refill it.

I think they did it this way so that there would be a reason to use droids and flight computers. In lieu of making up new stuff, they just redistributed aspects of the E/W/S system around to the different pilot professions.

The good old e/w/s system is ok. You have to reload your lasers and shields and the power comes from the engines, or your in a awing doing recon flying with "180" (no shields or laser)

That gives you an awing speed from 60 to 180 normal speed is 120

xwing50 150100

ywing40 100 80

what bothers me is thatit iseither 50% plus or 50% minus, so the higher normal speed the higher is the gain or loss. I think that is the reason they leftit out.

The awing is built for speedand has a really good engine, but does its laser and shield systems usethe same amount of energy? If it has then it would be a tank so when reloading a small shield and a not so powerfull laser should it then drop down to half the speed?

Maybe if they implemented the power distribution system from the x-wing series the y could make flight computers into targeting computers, they would grant bonuses to weapon recharge and/or speed. Missile lockons could be quickened. Droids could do minor repairs to shields and armor. R5 would increase the recharge rate of shields and he could repair systems and armor. Repairs would be done using a tool with a number of charges, or maybe just built in repair charges. The better the droid, the more charges he can store. These would be light repairs and they would be commands, they would of course devert the droid from shield duty. The droid would have a set amount at which he sped up the shields recharge rate based on a built in tool or program. Like above, energy distibution would be different for some ships. Just put a cap based on weapons, engine and shield quality on how much you can pump into them, and how much you can drain without the item shutting down. Also make it so we have to be a certain distance from landing station to hyper out, say 3.5km. Thats something else but I felt that needed to be said. Gravity and all.

Engine/Weapons/Shields system from the X-Wing series.

Basically, in that model, you have8 points of reactor power to distribute to your systems, with each system capable of holding a maximum offour units of reactor power. With twopoints each in theshields and weapons capacitor those systemsare kept at maintenance level; they niether recharge of deplete over time. Adding points into shield/capacitor will increase their charge rate, at a cost to engine speed.
