I don't know whether to be proud that I stuck to one ship all the way or whether to feel bad that imperials get a bit of a raw deal when it comes to ship selection.

I'm wondering if that's why they introduced the JSF and made it so easy to fly and loadout, to give the imperials a decent ship for a change.

None of the imperial ships up until the tie-advanced at 4xxx seem to be any good, they all just have 1 gun port and low mass, and the tie interceptor which is supposed to be the imperials answer to the x-wing actually handles worse than the basic tie. I was in kessel for a bit last night with my imperial alt and another imperial couldn't believe I was flying around in there in what looked to be a basic tie-figther, my answer was "there's nothing else decent to fly"

I know the empire is supposed to be all about mass producing so many pilots that they swarm the enemy but they could at least give people an extra gun port on a couple of ships.

If the single ship you've stuck with is the Heavy Tie, then there's not much of an accomplishment in that.

A guildy of mine solo'd storm squadron using just the Heavy TIE and the JSF - he's not the worlds best pilot, either. He's a post-ROTW pilot, so he's never really had to do much with mass management.

And the interceptor's definatly the answer to the Xwing - it's got a nice tight profile, and a great shot spread for x's. But, with only 60-65k mass, you really have to work out your components.

Here's a challenge for ya...Use pre-rotw ships, then go thru Imp Inquistion again, or if you want a challenge, go Black Epsilon or Storm Squad

Already done storm squad thanks dropped it at 4444 though because I wanted to grind rebel back in time for a guild event.

Those of us who know how to manage mass have no problems.

Also, remember that the squint might not be as nimble as the H-looking TIEs, but it's faster

Much hostility for the JSF around here. But, to be honest, there was a time when I'd agree with you 100%. It's just that now that I've learned all the Imperial Ships better, I've changed my mind.

Well, Imp is not really about variety. They can't even paint their ships. Overall I think the ships fit the faction.

Right. According to RPG sources and other SW canon, the mindset for the Imperial Fighter Corps was to make them fast, cheap, maneuoverable, and in large numbers. Not too many TIE pilots that lived past the rank of Lieutenant.

By and large, that's what we get with Imperial ships. Low mass, but more speed and nimbleness. That means that most of us fly with less armor but with more engines. I love it!

Now, the JSF is a relic of another era. Thus it's not a normal Imperial ship

Isolo'd Imp inquisition up to 4443 before I defected to Alliance. I flew all of ships and the Squint is a great little ship for pve providing you are careful with the mass management, I tend to dropexpensives luxuries like armour and boosters in favour of guns shields and a really fastengine.Personally I preferred it over the Advanced.

I am now 4434 in vortex again having used all the ships and by far my favourite is A-wing again no armour to speak ofjust an engine a big gun and a shield.

I think you're right to a degree. The JSF did feel like the DEVs throwing a bone to Imperial pilots. It just happened to be the JSF since it was tied to the movie realease aspect of RotW. Imperial ships in this game are expected to be the equals of the other pilot professions ships. The "Fill the skies with aluminum." approach does not and cannot exist in this game. I am always impressed by Imperial pilots however, as we tend to make the most of what we have. Does it get scary running with no armour in a ship that weighs less than the engine most people run in thier Advanced Xwings? Sometimes. I suppose it's the smaller hit box that makes up for the difference.

Honestly, the only kind of ship that the Imperial fleet is lacking is a medium mass starfighter with less maneuavability and at least two gun slots (like the normal X Wing). We've got light fighters (Interceptor and Advance) and heavy bombers (Opressor and Bomber) but nothing in between (I'm not counting the ROTW ships, they're just freaks of nature).

Btw, I always laugh when I see people complainingabout not being able to fit armor into their jsf, if I can squeeze it into my squint I cant see any reason why they cant fit it into a ship with almost twice its mass.
