Hi.

Appologies if this has been done to death as i am sure i am not the first to make this revelationbut i have returned to the game after many months with renewed intrest thanks to ROTW but im deeply confused....

I am a high ( i think highest ) ranking rebel member on leave. And over the spate of the last 3 weeks or so i have managed

( with a ton of help from my guild ) to get from rebel pilotnill to pilot 3333 looking very keen on getting 4333 to enable me to try out some of the swanky high level ships including the Jedi Starfighter ( Delta 7 ?)

But it appears that i am unable to even own such a craft as its for IMPERIAL ?

I was aware that an imp had to do a quest to obtain the deed but was led to belive that anyone could fly the fighter regardless of faction.

I had intended on offering a healthy sum of money to purchase a deed from anyone who had one for sale as the throught of loosing what rebel pilot skills i have worked hard to earn together with months and months of game play ( pre JTL ) to reach my high faction rating and with the effort i have put into reaching my pilot skill levelto simply obtain a deed is simply daft.

Can anyone please clarify for me if i should just put away any hope of owning one of these ? Or is there some kind of work around that i could employ as the real reason why i bought ROTW was for the BARC speeder and the Jedi Starfighter.

If Anyone can offer any constructive criticism i would be most gratefull

As i see it at the moment to own one and fly it i need to drop all that i have worked hard to get and then repeat it all to get back what i have lost.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you have to be Imperial (ground) to do the quest. Now, you can fly it as a Rebel, but you have to be Imp to do the quest...

Sadly you cannot fly the JSF unless you are awarded one. Sure, once you have completed the quest, you can buy replacements from other players (if they were up for selling them).

The GSF, however, is not like this. You can either buy it or loot it (wink)...

So in summar...

If you want a JSF - go Ground Imperial... Do the quest on Kashyyyk... Get the JSF deed... drop Imp and return to the Rebellion with a shiny new JSF. You CAN fly it as a Rebel, assuming you have done the quest.

Well, you're kinda right to say its been done to death, and all the information you need can be found pretty easily by looking in the FAQ or using the Search function when its working, however..

Heres a short guide to acquiring the JSF (Eta-2 Actis Interceptor).

You are correct to assume that you MUST be an Imperial on the ground in order to do this quest - you must therefore also be either a Freelance or Imperial Navy Pilot in order to fly the missions for this quest. As such, yes you will have to drop your Rebel Colonel rank and become an Imperial for a short time if you wish to get a JSF for yourself, however its fair to note that faction is quick to gain in Deep Space. That is to say that you can drop Rebel Colonel and resign from the Alliance, buy 5200 faction points to go Imperial, do the JSF quest, and then resign from the Empire to go back to being a Rebel. Once you have done this you can enter Deep Space (once you make ace) and farm faction points pretty quickly. I find that I can make the Colonel rank in an afternoon & evening's play session if I've recently switched factions, assuming I have the ace to enter deep space.

It may be worth you completing your Rebel pilot tree to ace, then dropping it to become a Freelance Ace, and then making a start on the JSF quest - that way you will have an experience multiplier bonus (making ace in freelance faster), you will retain your pilot skills when you change faction (freelance can be either rebel or imperial, so you don't have to revoke your pilot skills when making a faction switch), and you will be able to enter deep space to regrind your Rebel Colonel rank quickly after your change. Hope this helps.

Unless something has changed - you do not actually HAVE to fly the space mission. Vader gives you the JSF and then sends you to space to fight 2 battles, and you get 5k fp when you report back to him.

Nothing says you cant just travel home and drop Imp right then and there.

As the Op is only 3333 it might be quicker to drop reb and go imp, then regrind the xp. It saves getting 4mil to get ace, even with the multiplier. tier 1 is easy enough, tier 2 can be gained in a Y-wing with a master in 1 night, 3333 is all misison based, so can also be gained in 1 night. Much quicker than grinding 4mil, even with the chiss poacher method.

my thinking anyway.....

Yep.. the points you raise are true, however the point I was making is that regardless of whether he actually flies the mission, he will have to drop his Rebel pilot progress when he goes Imperial on the ground. The reason for this is that you cannot combine Rebel Pilot with ground Imperial - the only options to him when he goes Imperial is to be either Freelance or Imperial Navy.

As such, he may as well finish the rebel tree hes on now (not so far away from master) and then consider freelance as a good option - by going freelance he will not have to juggle pilot factions when he changes ground faction and can actually complete the flight part of the mission if he chooses to. Alternatively, as you suggest, he could just drop his rebel pilot tree whilst Imperial and beno pilot at all until he returns to his normal rebel faction.

Ahh - I thought I had heard you could pull it off that way, /shrug/, makes sense though =)

Well if you MUST have the JSF now, drop Rebel pilot and go Imp ... but if you can wait for the JSF, just buy a GSF (100-500k) and do what Arrain said.

He could, but the following line from his post indicates that its taken some effort to get to his current status and hes not keen to drop it:

"the throught of loosing what rebel pilot skills i have worked hard to earn together with months and months of game play ( pre JTL ) to reach my high faction rating and with the effort i have put into reaching my pilot skill levelto simply obtain a deed is simply daft"

Seems a shame to dump a pilot tree at 3333 - hes done the hard bit (the tier 3 missions), and the tier 4 box xp can be earned in around an hour without any multipliers .. I suspect its taken him more than 4 hours to reach 3333 rebel pilot.

The RGI, Vaksai and Heavy X-Wing are a similar vein of quests from Kashyyyk station - the JSF's equivalent is the ARC-170 which is only available to ground rebels who have done the quest. No prizes for guessing which is more desirable though

Yea but you can still fly the rgi/heavy x/vaksai even if you havent done their vein of quests from the station(i know because i gave my vaksai and heavy x to friends and they could fly them fine without having even done the pre missions for the kash station)

so it'd just make sense that you can fly the JSF too
