Thread: Your Opinion On: Using a Two-Seater and Getting Paid to get Space XP for someone

I am often tagged up as Master Pilot and Imp Ace Pilot before that. I constantly get offers that people will pay me to take them up in a two seater ship, let them go AFK, and meanwhile get XP for them. It seems like this would teach them nothing about being a better pilot, nothing about managing their ships or getting better components. In fact, if they dont want to fly in space and get the XP themselves, its not like they have to do it. They can just avoid space, and never bother, why pay someone to get you to ace? On the other hand, I would have been probably farming loot in Deep Space anyways, why not help someone out and get some extra cash while Im at it?

What do YOU think?

A fool and his money are easily parted. I figure, if he's gonna lose his money anyway, I might as well accept it when it's offered to me!

Your instincts serve you well.

I would only do it for people I know and trust (and then would it really be for credits?)... Otherwise, you could be giving a griefer access to DS.

I don't help them. It's inevitable that they'll hit Deep Space and get blown away by an Ace who actually did do all the work. Then yet another person will be on the forums screaming "NERF SPACE PVP DAMAGE!!!!"

I don't do it ... I might help people grind SPECIFIC boxes, and I'm available for mission help, but not just general XP grind. To help with XP, I don't fly a two-seater anyway ... and if I did, I'd take an escort mission, load up the best TURRET gun I could, and set my ship on auto-follow. Using the equipment is one thing, going AFK another.

Oh the tragedy...

"Hey man... how do you group your weapons?"

"hit the G key... it is pretty intuitive from there."

"Hey, what do countermeasures do?"

"Um..."

"Oh, what do astromechs do?"

"... how long have you been flying?"

"Oh I am an ace... since release... yep."

"Riiight..."

"What kind of ship are you flying, it is really cool looking!"

(Ok I am just being too hard on the guy here)

"It's Darth Vader's personal fighter... He gave it to me for being cool."

"Wow, are you a jedi?"

"Yes, and I am in the Emperor's Hand" (Yes, I know - wrong game)

"Wow, can you give me some money then?"

"..."

"Hey, where can I get a ship like yours?"

"In the Burning Woods..." (If any of you remember the old EQ days - with the joke about the Burning Woods zone moving - I soooo wanted to bait him into one of those)

"... Dont be a jerk, I know that is from Everquest."

Well - he was either goofing with me (playing dumb...) or a complete noob (but how did he get ace?)

Yes, I know... I am mean, but I did tell him the truth after I had my fun...

I tell them I will answer their questions and help them equip a ship to do it themselves. I even stopped helping people I don't know on missions if they have not at least tried it once solo.

I also like to see them get destroyed at least once during a vette run. Mean, I know...

I won't xp grind for someone. It teaches them nothing and I'm a busy person. Helping on missions I will do for free and will often drop what I'm doing in order to help.

However, I will consider if they offered credts. I'll never say "Oh I will for so and so amountof credits" but if they offer say 100k for an hour, I'll decline. I can grind more than 100k in an hour with my eyes closed.
I'll xp grind with someone for nothing short of 1mil credits per 1mil xp. I think thats fair and I won't stop anyone from offering me more than that. /shrug. As I see it, people should grind for themselves. Hell, I even turn down power levelling on other servers I've started fresh on from people from those corresponding servers that have offered simply because I don't think it is needed.

So in summary. I won't offer and I won't grind for free. It is my only mercenary quality. I mean, since I joined Starsider, the amount of free loot I've given out to people (including a re'd decent QID and a lvl 10 engine) has been quite startling.

Interesting question which has only recently started coming up for me.

I decided that I simply won't grind FOR anyone, period. No one has enough credits to buy my game time that way.I tell them that there are many better pilots out there who do that to make credits and they should have no trouble finding one. As for letting someone ride in the back of my Krayt to gain XP, I will do that anytime for a guildie or a friend, but only if I'm in the mood when it comes to anyone else. Regardless though, I won't take credits for doing it. Same for missions. The only price anyone has to pay is that they haveto have already made the effort to do it themselves.

Money talks. Nuff said.

Now if a pilot asks for "help" by grinding xp for them then the answer is no. I wouldn't be helping anyone by giving them free xp. But if the pilot wants to "help" me with a fat wad of cash then sure I'll do it.

its a moral issue, you want money if you help themn space grind, if they go AFK dump them at the nearest space station

I'll only help people I know, and the nI take them up in my Decimator to kessle, so they do the shooting, I might take them to DS in it if I know it's clear. The only people I would take up in my Aggressor are fellowguildies.
