Thread: Krayt vs Rihxyrk

I flew a Rihxyrk throughout tier 4, and after I mastered, I re-deeded it in favor of the Krayt (Like you I had the YT and Yacht in my datapad, so the Rihxyrk had to go).I have never looked back since. The Krayt handles much better, has a higher mass, and 3 forward pilot controlled guns, plus the turret. It is just as capable solo as the Rihxyrk, if not more so, and if you bring a turret gunner it's icing on the cake. The only downsides (if there are any)are that 4 weapons eat up your reactor and mass pretty quick if you're not careful, and imho the Rihx just looks cooler.Once you start flying the Krayt, though, you'll never miss the Rihxyrk.

When did the Krayt get a 4th gun?

the krayt has always had 4 guns. 3 are pilot-controlled and one is a turret on the back that you need another player to use

I have never, ever, ever heard anyone who logged serious time in both ships come back and say they preferred the Rhix. It's days as the Privateer's heavy fighter are long over, it's fire has gone out of the galaxy. Its a worthy boat to progress with, and I'm kinda sad that its role was so thoroughly trumped by the Krayt. But the M22t is probably the best PvE ship in JtL. I even got hosed twice by a guy in one in PvP last night, but one of the times he poked several /launchmissiles at me, so I call shenanigans and say we tied 1:1.

Just mastered like 2 days ago and my question ishow do the twostack up side by sideas solo fighters? Ive got a YT and yacht and dont want to drop the yacht. Im thinking of re-deeding my Rih for a krayt so i can take friends up or solo but Im wondering if there is a hands down difference or if they are "about" the same in solo combat.

Oh and as a master I learned something when I took on the Vett the other night. Just because I have the title it does not make me a true ace. Ive got a lot to learn and mad respect to the true master pilots and Del for tearing up the Vett with me and Robti.

I have to say as a Freelance Pilot that the moment I deeded my Rihxyrk, it is the best fighter I have flown to date. But after reading this thread and once I rally enoguh friends together to take the Vette down, I will aquire my own Krayt and re-deed my Rihkxyrk if necessary. I just need a ship with higher mass and the Krayt seems to be what I'm looking for. Thnaks for all your opinions. YOu have just answered alot of my questions.

Bought one last night and gutted my Rihx, while I do need system wide upgrades for the krayt on my first (and very fast) test flight I loved it and that was flying solo. Thanks again guysit was info I was hoping to hear and after flying it I think Im going to enjoy my Krayt.

I have flown both and I perfer the Rhix just based on gun placement. Even though I loose 20k mass, and some speed and maneuvariability, I can't stand those two wing gungs on the krayt.

Got to agree here. Besides, after REing all my equipment, everything I WOULD have put into my Krayt fits right in my Rihkxyrk(I don't take gunners around except on special occasions).

Now, when I upgrade to a level 10 engine, I'll HAVE to go back up to the Krayt, but until then, Rihkxyrk is more than reliable enough,

I switched to the Krayt and love it ...except for the two wing guns. It's taken me a while to get used to it but I figured out that if I roll so that my wings are in the plane of the targets turn I can yaw with it and the wing guns actually make a nice spread that hits quite often.

Having to get rid of one is an unenviable position. I have both and a YT in my datapad. When flying solo I absolutely prefer the Rihk, mostly because of the gun placement but also because of the gun strength. Having four guns in the krayt means I had to go with four advanced guns (my turret gunner should not be mere token IMO), whereas my rihk has two experimental guns and one advanced. This plus the wing spans on the krayt tends to mean that in one on one I can usually bring more firepower to bear in my rihk. When neutrals get those new ships in the expansion I think Ill redeed my YT before I redeed the rihk.

Neutrals had BETTER be the ones getting the other three ships!
