imo the jsf is just a normal ship took same guy down twice in my heavy x he noticed me both times.

he had a better engine than me and he is smaller but first time he got hit by my concussion and second he well

was stupid and ran straight at me. i would like one but im happy with my heavy x.

comparing hyped RotW ships to hyped RotW ships won't get you anywhere. If you'd been in a normal X or an A, you might have a point.

Edit- also, judging based on an obviously inferior pilot? c'mon that's not any sort of test.

Sucks to be him - 90k of mass and he can't fit a 900 unit chaff dispenser?

I can fit an REed L6 prenerf, two REed L4 armor plates, an REed L8 reward shield, an REed L8/L6 or L8/L7 weapon combo, and STILL have room for the chaff launcher, and a Mk2 ImRec, Mk4 Proton, or pre-nerf Mk2 Spacebomb launcher (not that I usually have them equipped, the beeping and 'twinkling' drives me insane).

I can fit 2P/1M, but I need to use RO2 to do it.

For the first time in months, I know what it feels like to strap into a zonal dominance fighter. And I know how to use the damned thing, too. And don't even start with the "Oppressor" BS - that thing was a SCHOOL BUS compared to an Advanced.

I swear to God, if whiners take one of the only things away that's keeping me around, it won't be SOE's dead the coroner'll be counting.

What's next? You kill the JSF, and not only will it hurt the current glut of space concentration, but you'll force everyone into the Heavies, and then we'll hear b*tching about the Z-95 and how "IT'S NOT FAIR" that the streams are so far apart.

You got the AT-ST nerfed THREE TIMES (four, if you count the POSes they are now - but I don't fault Rebels for that one).

If you're Rebel, switch ranks, go Imperial, get the deed, and relevel on Smuggler's Alliance so you can use the JSF and use the Heavy Scyk to powerlevel.

Good point, thats why the new ROTW ships need to be balanced as soon as possible so we dont end up with them being removed one by one or, god help us all, we end up with a space CU!

You do know your argument is tantamount to a doctor saying "that paper cut looks pretty nasty, let's take off the whole arm just to be safe."

KaylBreinhar,

Can we keep this "us vs them" (imp player vs rebel player) rhetoric down? Please? Or at least save it for the GCW forum and your server forum? Contrary to what some may believe, not everyone is a diehard Imperial or rebel fanboy out to nerf the other faction into oblivion.

It's not about just the JSF either. It's about all the new ROTW ships that are hypermanuverable, its just that for PvP reasons, the JSF has become the posterboy - so it gets most of the "press".

Ducimus:

But that's what's driving this. The bulk of the detractors could care less about balance. If both sides could [easily] get their hands on the JSF, we wouldn't be HAVING this argument, and you damn well know it.

You can't ignore the "us vs. them" because that's WHAT THIS IS. This is the "AT-ST in Space" argument.

That may be true, but it doesnt mean that the ships shouldnt be balanced just cause the majority of people would stop moaning in they were more readily available. The ships would still be unbalanced and the game would be a hell of a lot more boring with everyone tooling around in a JSF or Grievous fighter!

This is not an factional argument as EVERY faction receives ships that havent been balanced and make ALL their other ships useless! The ROTW ships are not balanced and therefore break the space game.

Just as if you made a weapon for the ground game that could only be used byone professionand had a base DPS of 5000, whilst 3 other professions got DPS 4000 weapons, the DPS 5000 weapon would get the most trouble as it is the most gamebreaking, yet all the new weapons would need balanceing as they are all game breaking!

And you've got about as much chance of getting the new ships nerfed as you do getting an Alliance Star Destroyer added to the game 20 years early. And it's not because of unfairness.

Don't you get it - these new ships weren't meant as a reward for US, the veteran players, they were meant for the newbies! Why do you think no NPC in the JSF quest tops L35 and no SHIP enemy tops Tier 3?

Consequently, as I've said in a LOT of posts as of late, I don't see how the throngs of newbies SOE's expecting are going to even KNOW about this game - SOE hasn't spent a single dollar advertising it - whereas they're sponsoring a "Quest for Antonia" lookalike contest through Stuff magazine for EQ2. Where's the pomp and circumstance for SWG now that EP3 is out? Don't they even think it's worth getting people to fish for the 24.99-29.99 just for the profit?

We're fighting because the Devs thought it'd be more attractive to keep newbies interested by handing them superpowered Tier 1 and Quest-Awarded ships (which would be important to a newbie strapped for cash just starting out) to allow them to level in a QUARTER of the time it took us.

At the moment im a rebel pilot. For how long i can't say. (id say the same if i was still an imp pilot) Im about as unpredictable as the weaither But even if i could currently get a JSF, id still say they need to be toned down... at least the YPR being equal to a Tie Advanced or Interceptor. 10.2 (if i remember correct) is WAAAAYYYY out of whack.

In my mind, the best example of how far out of scale these new ships are, is acutally the Imperial heavy. Think about it.

Novice:. 95K mass, twice the YPR of a T/I or T/A.
Teir 1: T/F 20K mass
Teir 2: T/ln 40K mass
teir 3: T/I 50K mass
Teir 4: T/A 65K mass.

Doesnt that seem out of whack to you? Why bother getting ANY other imperial ship excepting maybe a T/B? The whole imperial lineup is obsolete from the word go.

The only drawback is the .95 speed modifier. But again, this isn't for us - it's for the newbies. JTL is a "mini-game" to them (them = SOE), something that just MIGHT keep new subscribers interested for a second month and additional 14.99.

As is the freelancer and rebel pilot profession lineup, I mean who doesnt want the mass of an Xwing with TWICE the manouverability of an Awing!
