Thread: My idea to make loot easier to manage. What is your suggestion?

Don't know about other pilots, but loot is accumulated fairly quickly and can take up your inventory quickly. My suggestion would be

to at least have a bank terminal near the ship terminal, to make transfer of loot to storage easier. Some starports, like Lok, do not have a bank terminal nearby, while Dantooine mining station does.

Also, would like to be able to see stats of looted space junk when selling them to the ship chasis dealer. This feature is available when browsing your inventory. Why did they not incorporate that into the ship chasis dealer. Also, would help if list of items to sell could be organized by type of compoent, alphabetically, or by level of component, ect.

Thanks for the replies.

I agree that the 80 inventory is an improvement. Maybe someone else will have "easy ideas" to make it work. I dont think placing a bank terminal, so you can access the safety deposit box, close to all star ship terminals would be that difficult for developers to

add to the game.

Currently, when I want to sell an item, the ship chasis dealer lists the items he wants to buy. This list seems random and does not appear to be organized alpabetically, or by type of component. Therefore, I have to open my inventory, change view to list items in inventory by type. Then I have to, by using the arrows in the upper left hand corner of inventroy screen, choose the option to show the stats of the component when I click on the item in inventory. After that, I have try to match/find the item on the ship chasis dealer with the same in inventroy. I was suggesting it would be easier for the ship chasis dealer to show the stats of the item he is willing to buy.

Perhaps there is an easier way to do this that I dont know about and am open to suggestions.

My concerns over loot storage go far beyond the 80 item inventory or bank storage. I work with a few other pilots and we pool loot, share parts, and such. We currently have a small house holding pre-RE parts levels 2-7, one holding parts 8-10, and one just for holding sets to be RE'd when the MSW can drop by.A fourthis holding post-RE'd and crafted items ready for use, as well as handling overflow from other storage sheds.

We do have a Merchant who could run a vendor to store the items, but then it would be a one person operation with donations, rather than a group effort. Since I am typically the person to organize items and pick out complimentary sets (and I'm not even novice artisan), a vendor solution would not work well for me.

I like the system in that we can use loot, we can collect loot, we can turn loot into better parts through a SW, and we can even ignore loot and use crafted parts. Unfortunately such a robust loot system begs players to attempt to store several hundred pieces of loot at a time.

I wish I had a solution.

I don't think the bank terminal is an urgent need as all bank terminals are in running distance.

Ironically we were okay for storage until they nerfed/fixed (depending on your point of view) the crafting station hoppers.

The 80 item inventory is a good improvement, but it's not as if we didn't already carry things with us in our inventoryalready?

I know how ya feel. Inventory fills up fast from space loot when you're killing just for a few hours. I wouldn't mind some kind of filtering options like a box that says "Only keep looted items above level" and you can put a number in the box or something. I just delete most of my lvl 1-4 stuff anyway. Especially things like DI's, boosters, armor plates.

I "Personally" think that with 80 open for inventory we are kinda good ATM, but that does not mean it should not be a "top" thing. Any "easy ideas" to make it work better for ya?

I get a serious case of rear-rot if I fly long enough to fill up my inventory AND my pack with loot.

Yah, usually by the time I fill up 80 inventory spaces and my pack with loot I tend to need a break from flying so I can go sell it. Basically when I go out flying I keep only neccessary wearables and leave the rest in my house (or just put it all in my pack). I can generally fit everything in my pack leaving me with 79+ spaces for loot.

I think the loot storage problem(or lack of) is more an issue with how shipwrights RE parts. One Lvl.10 part needs 10 parts to make. etc. So when you consider you are collecting parts from Lvl.1 up to Lvl.10, that's a hell of a lot of parts.

I have been collecting parts for my shipwright to RE, and right now I have over 300 parts stored. And despite this,I am nowhere near having the required number of parts tobeging getting any of my lvl.7-8 ones RE'ed. The reduced drop rates also mean these parts sit around for a lot longer before I can use them.

I think there needs to be a fundemental re-tooling of the SW profession to fix this. Such as higher quality manufactured parts the rival the RE ones, or a reduction of RE parts needed to make the higher level parts.

Collecting parts and getting them RE'ed is a fun part of the pilot profession, and I have some fantasic parts in my ships now. But the Dev's obviously didn't see the storage problems with the system they put into place.

I've been a master SW and pilot for a while, and storing loot was a tremendous problem. The sheer number of loot required also drastically slowed down the RE process as well. About a month ago, I finally started creating vendors for the sole purpose of storing loot on them. REing now takes seconds, and I can now store hundreds/thousands of loot and have them all perfectly organized without taking up space in my house.

I think this sums it up the most. It's not the "nearby" storage, but the sheer storage shipwrighting takes up. As a pilot, you can't rely on a shipwright to RE lots of good parts to sell, because they simply can't store enough parts to RE them all, which leaves the storage duty directly on the pilot, who is normally another profession also (which also takes up space).

Honestly, this may sound wierd, but I think the best solution for the entire game as far as space goes, is to make merchant cost no skill points, or cost very few skill points. There is only one good reason i can think of for them not to do it, and that's to keep loot changing hands, and keep people from hording. However, that is also a good reason to do it. people without artisan have a hard time selling things the way it is....at least I do. Only place to do it effectively is on these forums, and that means I normally destroy smallish things.

Yeah. Storing loot is a major problem. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of different types of loot out there. As an re'ing shipwright I have travel packs marked for example Boosters a-k, boosters l-z, and so on. If I re the parts I automatically put them up for sale on my vendor. The rest I keep in these packs on my storage vemdor. This how I manage the clutter.
