Hey I picked up a 14.8 speed lvl 1 droid Interface unit. what good would it do me to upgrade to a higher level if all I could find is one with a worse speed, or does it even matter. any advice would be appreciated.

Keep it and never give it away. If you sell it get a lot of money for it.

When JTL came out, there was a significant issue where all Droid Interfaces were scaled incorrectly. A lower speed was better. but the speeds went UP as the level went up, instead of getting lower. Lots of level 1-3 DIs with speeds around 15 were looted before the fix that made level 1s more like 35ish and suddenly there were no speed 15 DIs lower than level 8 items or so.

I found a vendor (UAT on Valcyn) that was trying to get FS Schem parts by REing anything they could get their hands on, then selling it all cheap to get rid of it. Ibought all thepre-patch DIs that they had for sale.

How did it decay to nothing? Mine got to 10 AP/HP and stopped decaying... still works fine

ya, last time i checked people dont target your d.i. in combat

but when it gets to 10ap/hp the decay stops? is this the same for engines and other parts? i havent come accross anything that could kill me repeatedly yet so ive never decayed anything that much before, but if a part's ap never decays to a value less than the damage an overload3 program does to it, you could use it forever, just make sure no hits get passed your armor.

i have a 14.0 lvl1 d.i. in my awing, and a 14.5 in my tie-adv. really makes cap to shield shunt shine.

Mine was 10/10 long before decay went away, so I assume that yes, 10/10 is the lowest it will go so you can keep using something indefinitely with OL programs that do less than 10 damage, which I think are the level 2's for engine and reactor... maybe 3 for reactor, I know EO4 is like 30 damage tho, so that would instantly disable you >_<

I feel like such an idiot for not having enough foresight when JTL first launched to save all my looted comps. For a long time, and this is way before SOE introduced the ability to sell comps to the chassis dealer, I just destroyed a lot of low level stuff to free up room. I don't know what I was thinking exactly. Ihad loot coming out of my ears and didn't think to set up storage for my parts. I know I had tons of those pre-fixed low level DIs. Lots of other good early stuff that I know now had some really nice stats.

Still, I have a really nice looted lvl 10 DI. I just looted my 10th one so I can RE them. The lowest one I have is 9.4, so it's going to end up around 8.8 I think. Mass will end up around 20k. Pretty high for a DI but I have the room in my Firespray. The big advantage is being able to use CtSS4 about every 8 seconds, combined with a nice capacitor with WCO3 and I am able to regenerate my monster shields very quickly. This helps immensely in taking on tough targets like Tier 5 gunboats or the vette. Right now it only marginally helps in PvP depending on the type of encounter and the skill of my opponent. I've been in some good fights where being able to dump a couple of capacitor loads to the shields have kept me alive long enough to get in enough shots to take out my opponent. IMO, with another 25-35% or perhaps more, damage reduction will make PvP much more interesting. Strength of shields, capacitor, DI, and droid commands used will play more of a factor than just weapon damage and maneuverability.

Its a good one but I have looted some that were below 14 and a couple weeks back I looted a lvl 10 that was 10.3 speed.

If you re prenerf di's now to get their hp/armor back up, does it work or do the prenerf ones get ruinous stats when re'ed now?

Well, yes, it would work. The problem is that the DIs we're referring to are old enough that they've probably all been RE'd by now. That, and the fact that most of them are level 1, so RE'ing won't do much to help. Theoretically, if you had an old level 3 that is worn down then you could RE it with new level 3's to get the Armor/HP back up, but that's about the only situation.

I believe decay ends at 10/10 because there has to be a certain amount of damage for there to be decay. I would have guessed that the special number would be 9/9, but it seems I would have guessed wrong. The decay has been that for every 10 points lost andrepaired, you should get 9 points back. There must be a rounding issue involed when it is the last 10 points on the item.

I made 10 of these lvl 1 speed 15 DI reversed a few weeks ago...

The speed wasn't enhanced a lot (went from 15 to 14.2 for the best ones) but since mass an energy cost are only around 500, it's perfect for low mass ships (and even for high mass ships but not for multiplayer ships since mass isn't a problem)

To get speed 15 DI, you need to get lvl 7 items, which are 7k mass elements....
So 6.5k mass to put something else (you can put some little armor, a better shield, another heavier weapon...)

And you can't target a DI, but when you don't target anything, everything has a chance to be damaged... so the less armor/hp you have, the more chance to have your component one shot (happened to me already)

Now if you want a speed 10.0 DI, you'll need a lvl 10 component which are worth 50k mass So perfect for a big ship

Many did around the launch and sold their actually very good level 1 interfaces on the bazaar at that time thus enabling me to collect a nice amount of those interfaces, I supplied the guild and friends with them and still have a good bunch left :-).
