Thread: Pikeman is distressing!
I was in geo caves, and I got a 35% sliced LVA right.... and a equal VL from loot, both almost 500 damage...... now this may not sound that impressive but I can't afford to buy the 1200's type lances.....
our most powerfulattack hit3 is 3x, and say swordsman is 4x.... heh, but I'll never understand how they do like several thousand more damage then me using a special thats not much higher if any in damage multiplication
outdamage a swordsman thats speedcapped as a pikeman? I doupt that to be honest, our crappy leghit2 vs. their mind hit and bleeds for mind? it dosen't seem likely to me, their DPS alone rocks ours simple as that with out uber looted pikes
people ask me "are you ok? you need help with that? are you master?" cause I kill stuff so slow, there is no way to kill faster, you use what you got, no specials increase damage,
pikeman its kinda seeming like a bum profession to me, and DOT's are useless PVE they just, ok pvp 3k health, pve 40k+ health? heh you see the point of a DOT right
just seems so wrong how pikeman always seems to hit for lower damage, even though a swordsman has way less accuracry on his hammer and skill mods, I have no comprehension of how that works at all, I feel so weak, i could kill faster as a pistoler, even stuff with medium armor I could

You can't buy those, they're looted.

This may have something to do with the fact that they have more attack speed than we do. Veterans, correct me if i'm totally wrong.

Swordsman have mind attacks, we don't, really. Leg Hits attack the action pool.

I'm going to beg to differ. I can hit something for 500points damage, use a special attack and hit it for 1500+ damage. I saw this just last night when I was on Dathomir(I'm not Master yet, BTW).

I don't see how people can reach this conclusion. I can take things as a low level Pikeman that I couldn't as a low level Rifleman. Pikeman owns in PvE(I don't PvP). There is really nothing you cannot take on. You can wade into herds of Rancors and have them lying dead at your feet in less than 5 minutes. Nightsisters, kimogilas, krayts. . .the world is your target.

Then go back to being a Pistoleer. But you miss out on area KD and Dizzy, as well as other excellent state attacks we have. So you couldn't out damage a Swordsman..that just tells me you need to move to a part of the Geo caves that isn't occupied, that's all. Besides, if you are just basing this on a trip to the cave, you are seriously undervaluing the Pikeman profession. Take a trip to Dathomir sometime and do what the previous poster mentioned..take on a load of rancors. You'll see how great this profession really is.

one of the nicer points of swordsman, its one ugly boring proffession though.

Again that could be due to damage types and resists, if a rifleman has a good rifle, he can take pretty much anything solo and with good speed, baring in mind the resists

In general though, we are badly outclassed by swordsmen's damage mods. Leghit is woefully weak, while headhit is extremely strong. You're absolutely right that their DPS destroys us. Blast damage gives them another advantage. If you want to kill things fast, you're better off with swordsman.
Unlike swordsman however, pikeman is not a profession where you can just keep hitting one button until the fight ends. Personally I see that as a good thing.
