Thread: Question about Area Attack 2, seeking answer please!

Hello guys,
I am new to the Forums though I been playing over about a year heh. Curious if you long time pikeman out there can tell me, a master pikeman on my server Starsider told me that the Polearm Area Attack 2 will hit creatures not once but twice per use. Can anyone confirm that please? If so could you please tell me what I am doing wrong because it only hits groups of mobs once for me!

i think the guy was pulling your leg, i havent been pike for awhile but i only hit once every time i used it

Hrm. I'm thinking that he's talking about how the animation doesn't finish before the next attack starts. A master pikeman should be able to get off another attack before the animation is done. You do two separate attacks, the animation just doesn't have time to finish since it's a very long animation. If your sig is right then you might not be able to use it again before the animation completes.

ROFL i totally forgot about that, i think i grinded fencer out in a couple of days after pilling crystal snakes on top of mamiens on top of mawgax's and so on... if only they actually physically stacked on top of each other i woulda had a bunch of10m high pile of corpses lying around all over yavin.

He could have been refering to the fact that Area2 will inflict "2 states" not hit them twice.. Stun and dizzy are applied to a mob when area2 is used

hehe id like to see the insane amount of dmg we would do if we hit twice on one area 2

OK - I have a similar but different question: Which do you Pikers like better - Area2 or Spin Attack2? Any why?

Area 2 = Is area dizzy and stun, and has a 0.5 extra damage multiplier on it than spin2.
Spin 2 = Is area dizzy, but is a faster attack if your not speed capped.

It is most likely the fact that with a decent speed Polearm you see two Area2 hits going off in the animation span of one, hence it does indeed appear to hit twice. Just get the offensive line on its own and try that move with a 5.5 speed LVA, you'll see if it hits once or twice the hard, extremelly slow way.
Personally, with my new and improved speed (+14 yay) I pick Area2 over Spin2 any day. It has higher damage AND looks sexier.

Thanks guys - I am 3 boxes from Master Pike, and Area2 is next on my list - I can't wait.

Not quite accurate. Area 2 has a 2.75x damage mod, 3x delay mod. Spin 2 has a 2.5x damage mod, 3x delay mod.
In other words, spin 2 is utterly useless once you have area 2.
