Currently I am a novice pikeman and was wondering would I be better off doing unarmed combat? I never do PvP, so that isn't so much an issue. Im not sure how much damage unarmed can do but I have noticed that pike does alot less damage then gunfingters. My pike is a long vibro lance. Speed 3.0 damage 107-304

Does any one know if tera can deal more damage or have better defence? Or am I better off staing with Pikeman

Also, I am at the Fs village so if any one knows a faster way to grind out combat xp it would be greatly appricated.

4 post, you beat me bro

Anyway, to answer your question, never ask this question again in pike board, cuz we will tell you to stick with pikeman, same thing go for TKA. Well, TKA have better defense, they can take 50% more damage then pike, meditate line is a must have IMO, can choose either health, action or mind to attack, KD/Dizzy. BUT they don't have cool animation, they are better at one on one, when pike is ONE on TEN (area attack.) Another plus for pikeman is the DOTs looted weapon, exception weapon. If you are able to be at speed cap for pike, TKA would be a joke in PvP. Also, TKA can only do kinetic damage when pikeman have electric damage.

Actually it is depend on the style of how you play the game, if you face multiple critters a lot of time, like pike, also if you are hunters, pike is good too. Keep on spamming the Area Attack 2, the lair will be down in no time and you will have $#!t load of critters to harvest

I mastered TKA, however I drop it, just keep the meditate line, and almost done with Pikeman, currently I am 4434, and the animation is just sick. Plus it is priceless to watch yourself beating the crap out of 6-10 STs at one time, looking at them standing up and falling down again and again is just way too cool.

Others might say different, but this is my opinion though. If I was you, master both, you have 250 sp for god sake.

Why dont you master the two of them, use them for a while and see which you prefer or even keep them both but Id definately recommend doing Master Brawler if you go down the pikeman or swordsman route, or if you pvp at all

The Problem with me doing both is I have mastered medic as well as some ch skills. I don't want to surrender them yet cause I am at "the village" on dathmir and i need to converet alot of xp to Fs xp.

Im not to sure I am fimaliar w. alot of the stuff you guys are talking about. I stopped playing the game about six months ago and just started back up.

Sorry to sound stupid and like a newbie but what are the dots? and I still can't find a better pike weapon then what i have.

Also if any one else is doing the Fs quest I have a few questions about the combat prowess and the enhanced refleces

Im on server Ahazi and my character name is arir if any one can help me out

[edit] DOTs = Damage Over Time. A DOT Weapon is a Weapon that has poison, disease or fire on it, in addition to it's normal damage type.

Tera Kasi - Pros / Cons

Pros: Excellent Defenses including a high Unarmed Toughness. (Toughness is important to EVERY melee class)

Meditate - Allows you to heal off poison/disease and heal wounds.

Force of Will allows you to get-up after being incapped, sometimes with full ham.

PowerBoost - Mini Self-Buff. Nice to have.

Excellent agains a single target.

Cons: Looooooooow damage output vs. High-End PVE content.

Only one availibe damage type - Kinetic.

Every Nooblet is a TKM, becuase it's Easy. *waits for 1 Star Ninja....*

Pikeman - Pros / Cons

Pros: AP2! Long Vibro Lance = excellent damage against higher-level PvE Targets.

Electric Damage from Vibro Lance, though only AP1.

Area Attacks. Tons of them, including state effects such as stun, dizzy and blind. Great for taking out an entire lair of rancors in a minute or less.

Looted Weapons: 1k+ Damage Long Vibro Lances, weapons with massive DoTs (poison/disease etc)

Pikeman is Cool.

Cons: Lowest Toughness Mod of the melee classes, and the crappiest overall defenses.

Area Attacks - Most of them aren't that different from one another.

Looted Weapons - Be prepared to loot-whore (i.e. solo-hunting high-end PvE Mobs such as Nightsisters or Singing Mtn Clan) or run thousands of Rancor Missions to pay for

some of these weapons. Also, be prepared to be hated should you ever employ your nasty DOTs in PvP.

I have done every combat profession there is, spending time with each to get to know it. Overall, Tera Kasi is an excellent class for low to medium level PvE and very effective in PvP. On the otherhand, Pikeman is the Queen of PvE (swordsman being the King) and can be brutal in PvP, so long as you get speed tapes and make the best use of your DOT weapons. Having Master Brawler is pretty much a must, since it gives more speed, more accuracy and more toughness. Further, Intimidate 2 and Lunge 2 both work well in PvE and PvP.

An effective build that works very well for both PvP and PvE is thus:

Master Brawler

Master Pikeman

Master Swordsman

Medic 2040

Leaves 13 skill points to fiddle with, which you might as well dump into medic anyhow, if PvE is your thing.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I am a master brawler, master teras kasi and a master pikeman. My melee defence is over 100 and my ranged defence isinthe 80's, In PVE i get hit about 1 out of 7 times. If you are grinding xp for the village there is nothing better then a pike, I have hit the speed cap due to +6 speed from the first two blocks in the village being addedto my +80 from brawler.

I go into a lair of voritors in a solo group get 40 to 50k xp per lair plus the 30k payout. I have a freind who is just a teras kasi master who gets killed trying this. Nothing beats a pike for crowd control. Also stop using a vibrolance except when the targets arevuln to electricity. Get a good LVA.

One thing both professions has in common; both are good support tankers.

Pikeman will get you good in the long run at speed cap since you'll most likely run across a high damage LVA but the lack of decent defenses and block will get you alot of wounds and armor decay.

TKM has above average defenses, special attacks to individual and all 3 stat pools, dizzy+knockdown, meditate and decent unarmed damage and the highest toughness out of all melee classes but ham costs per attack is among the highest as well.

I was pikeman twice and I somewhat miss it, I had some super lances like a 2.9 224-824 Vibrolance and 4.4 174-695 LVA. You should be able to find a better LVA than the one you listed like a 3.1-3.2 speed sliced 135-375 and 500 damage sliced ones.
