Ok, I have yet to try out the new patch, but here are the changes that deal with us...


Decreased polearm move costs.


((WEE! Finally! I am so happy, though I haven't checked it out...))


Increased movement accuracy penalties/defensive bonuses. The "Run and Gun" technique has a bigger penalty, but gives greater ranged defense.


((Could this be the end of ranged exploits and kiting?))


Added 30 second posture change/knockdown timer. This applies to how often a player or creature can be knocked down. Once they have been knocked down they are immune to another knockdown move for 30 seconds.


((I don't think I like this, though I have yet to try it out...))


Decreased cost of all knockdown moves. When we added the 30 second timer, the costs and damage needed adjustment.


((Decreased costs are always good, considering we pay so much when using specials.))


Increased damage of all knockdown moves.


((I like this))


Reduced the encumbrance penalty on armor layers and segments. The encumbrance costs of wearing armor were a bit too high.


((Does this mean that we will be able to wear armor now with our LVA?))


Increased the maximum range of the special protection on armor layers. To add more variance.


((What armor may be worth it now? hehe))



What are your guys' thoughts on this new patch? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I believe the knockdown changes were completely the wrong way to go.


Instead of simply removing the offensive facet of it which was so abused, they removed any use for crowd control whatsoever.


As my thread further down says, knockdown should be a purely defensive move and thus, have a damage of 1. This would have prevent the KD spamming that allows people to solo red cons, yet still allowed a pikeman and other KD users to conduct crowd control.

Ok, so the KD effect has been limited to once every 30 seconds... but with the increased damage and lower HAM costs... could we use polearmsweep as a powerful, spammable attack? The attack animation is very short compared to polearmhit2 and its damage can be comparable. I look forward to testing it.

I'm going to wait till I see how the knock down limit affects my play before I pass judgement. In a typical fight I will start with knock down and follow up with a stun. Depending on the mob I may throw in a dizzy hit (although I wonder how effective dizzy hits are). Then I just let my normal attacks take over until he starts hitting me again. I then use knock down again and heal myself (depending on how much damage he did). I don't know how much time passes between my first knock down and the second but it's gotta be some where close to the 30 second mark. 15 to 20 seconds at least.


On top of that, my second knock down move sometimes fails and I have to use it once or twice more to get the mob off his feet. In those cases I would say that 30 seconds have passed since my first successful knock down. I would guess in an average 2 minute fight that I use knock down 4 times. That equals equal segments of 30 seconds each. Regardless, I'm sure I can think of something else to do while waiting on the timer like throw in a few more jabs or another heal.


Typically I fight with a pet so the knock down timer will have less affect on me as my pet usually tanks. With my pet most fights don't require a knock down at all. And now, with pets not changing targets until I tell him to (another patch change), I can better rely on my pet sticking to the tank job I sent him to do in the first place.


We shall see...

sorry silver but looking at the big picture there were no positives in patch knockdown is the only way high end pikers can kill anything im back to killing things that are dark blue and im a master medic brawler . must be a bunch of idiots on test server

lol forgot to mention lowered the ham on knockdown what a joke , knockdown is useless now how the ###$## cares about its ham cost now. sorry to be so blunt but this was true stupidity

I just got done testing this out. I was able to spam knockdown after knockdown, where's the 30 sec timer? Did they forget to nerf us like they did last time in regards to knockdown ham costs?

are you sure you didnt get knockdown failed mesage? tahts what I'm getting and it SUCKS. Also when i knock down they dont atack for about 2 seconds not 5. I'm wondering how well warcry and intimated work now that i might need em? Man i just got wooped by a mokkand im not likin it.

I've just logged off after fighting a while at fort tusken. I got over 100 wounds to a couple of pools all because I can't knockdown more then once.

Well, I think the sensible course of action here is for all of us who are unhappy with the patch to get off our a$$es and make pikemen on Test Center. That way, we can prevent anything this egregious from happening again. Hopefully.

Honestly, I have noticed very little change with the changes, such as move cost. The only thing in which there was any dramatic change was the KD change. This change was absolutely horrible. It's pretty tough for us brawlers already, now it will be even more difficult. Marksman can adhesive mesh their prey and shoot them like they are fish in a barrel. We cannot use this trap (and hit the creatures from a distance), andbecause of this KD change, we cannot even protect ourselves anymore. On top of that, THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED TOUGHNESS?



I am not pleased at all with the brawler changes. Yes, I was happy with the patch overall. They certainly fixed quite a few things that have been broken for a while and I am very glad that they fixed those things.


However, this brawler jostle was simply unnecessary. Five seconds would have been more appropriate, or maybe even ten. But THIRTY? No... that was simply way too much.

For starters let me introduce myself.....



I'm a master brawler / master pikeman on sunrunner...name is Obacca and i have played since the first week of release.



That being said I'd like to say thank you to the devs for completely ruining this game for me....



I am now a laughing stock in my guild as well as any cantina in the galaxy where some noob marksman wants to show off by killing a master of an "elite" profession.



PvP is totally out of the question for me and basically just about every other melee class in the game now....it was hard enough to try and deal with marksmen but now im a complete wuss.



Since the devs are so dead set on taking melee out of the game then why even offer them as a profession? Obviously they are stearing us all towards the "big game" which is PvP and the whole faction war which I agree with completely (this is the whole reason for the game). What also is clear to me now is they want everyone to carry blasters and wear armor and have big gun battles with lots of AT/ST's for imps and rancors or similar pets for rebs....



After spending so much time mastering a melee profession that i hardly ever see other players using only to watch SOE flush it all down the drain in one nice neat little sweep of there almighty hands it has dawned on me....the devs play marksmen.They want us all to wear composite andsnipe at 60m with T21's. Theres already enough Bobba Fett wana be's running around if u ask me but hey, I'm just a brawler right? No one important right? After all if a group wants a tank they just use there faction pets or gurreks....why waste time trying to keep me alive to keep mobs off of there frail little selves when a graul mauler will do very nicely thank u very much......



After living through EQ for years and all the nerfs i thought "maybe they will get this one right"....."maybe they will just leave us alone and let us play".



Obviously not.....



In case u havent guessed it (if a dev even bothers to read my insignificant little brawler rant) you can consider my account officialy closed at the end of my next billing cycle.



Which means two games I no longer play (or pay them a monthly fee to play might be a better way to put it). This of course also means that EQ2 (which i was defenitly going to play (and pay the above mentioned fee's) is no longer even a thought to me.



So in closing I guess i should say once again ...thank you SOE....I think with your help i may have finally kicked my evercrack problem...once and for all..........
