Thread: To SilverSurfer: please tell me you are going to adress this kd timer to the devs!
Bumping this. Silver, please have them fix this.My character almost made Master Pikeman. He is totallly unplayable now. What a waste.
I also have experienced insane battle faigue and wounds per fight. I even bugged it in game because I was going into battle and would accumulate at least 20+ battle fatigue and 100+ wounds by the time the fight was over.
The problem is my overall enjoyment of the game has taken a huge hit. I consider that a bug as I liked the game before the patch.
The funny part is most of the changes were to address weaknesses or skills/abilities that were broke. I was under the impression that they agreed that some classes were not up to par so that they would make changes to help them.
If they felt the way we did, that most classes were broke, not balanced...
THEN WHY THE NEED TO NERF SOME ASPECTS TO BALANCE AN IMPROVEMENT.
Somebody or people at SwG are obviously disillusioned to what people are saying are the problems with the game.
Well...
I am not in the habit of using kd that much, I know it is great, but I like to try to kill players/monsters without it. So, it doesn't really hurt me... hehe, but I will bring it up to SOE if I get another message, remember I can only send one in when they have responded to the last one.
So we are now playing the waiting game...
Khrim...
Our new wounds, Damage and taking more hits is not the KD timer.
I think they fixed the stats ie: +4 toughness = +4 and guess what we got screwed.
I take insanly wounds now, BF and die to stuff i never died to before.
Your comments below tend to make me think you have not played a Pikeman in a high level creature encounter, what many have said is "It is no longer possible to engage creatures in PvE situations and expect to live except against a blue con creature" Other classes can...

Pikeman ugh....
Silver,
Your issues seem to be bias. You are coming off as just a PVP type player, the fact is that most of the Brawler class are PVE players. The whole KD issue will not effect the PVP brawler but has made the PVE brawler totally ineffective. As our voice, please make this a priority for the PVE players. We rely on KD, as we should, when fighting creatures ...not so with humoids.
If SOE was trying to force the whole player base to become PVP'rs then they will succeed. But inorder to PVP you will need to gain skill through PVE inwhich we cannot anymore.
This needs to be fixed, ASAP.
Hello SilverSurfer -
I chose Pikeman because we are a rare breed. I've noticed alot of unbalanced issues in SWG, particularly the issues with PvP. I'm sure we're all aware of the difficulties concerning pikeman (melee) vs ranged combat - so I won't go there.
I was willing to accept those issues and temporarily enjoy the advantage we had over ranged in the PvE arena. However, with the introduction of the KD timer, that is no longer possible. Due to the already low toughness factor, I find myself (not spamming KD) but using KD to get myself out of a difficult bind. That is no longer possible. The KD was essential in defeating more difficult enemies in PvE.
Furthermore, I assumed that we would be one of the heaviest hitters in the galaxy, and for a time, that was true (I could hit a prone tusken for 7K+ dmg). Now, I find that the LLC can do 10K plus dmg.
I don't see how I could remain a master pikeman if there are no priveledges given to us for being one. I enjoyed the changes that were made to our class prior to the latest patch, but I believe that this patch is what changed the game for me. I don't want to be another BH on the server, I enjoy our rareness and would like to continue playing the character. However, if we have our essential skills removed from us (in favor of the more common class) I'll probably find myself retiring my character in pursuit of other activities other than SWG.
Please take the time to say something to devs to fix our KD timer issues.

I must be very naive, because I think the timer is a good idea. I haven't gotten into PVP yet, and I don't even have a knockdown attack, so maybe I should not even be commenting here. But why is it I can solo just fine, sometimes take out a yellow con, yet all these higher level pikeman say they are being challenged by blue's? Also, everyone says the long vibro axe is pointless, and I absolutely love my lva and vibro lance. When I DO start playing PVP, I don't want gunners using KD every five seconds while running away. And if you use KD more than once every 30 seconds, do you honestly enjoy playing this game with such a simplistic strategy? Believe me, I have many complaints and grievances with this game, but I am tired of all the KD and pet dependency in battle. It is time this game's combat enjoy grows. Taking everyone's heavy finger off the KD button is a first step...
Grendelsmother,
The main issue is that in higher level PvE encounters we cannot stand toe to toe with a creature and expect to live. The so called bonus's we recieved with this last patch cannot balance the huge loss to our nessesary attack mode while in a PvE encounter with something that can hit for 400-1000 in one hit not thelight80-200 point damage many novice pikemen face and think woo I can do this without KD, those other pikemen must be doing something wrong.
Other classes at the elite master level in their profession continue to attack white con mobs and succeed in PvE encounters our so called elite master Pikemen can no longer succeed in PvE encounters with anything greater than a blue con and when they do you better be ready for serious wound damage and serious pharmaceutical medpack use every time.

He has a point there Grendel, you keep posting all over the boards that you have novice level skills and you are wooping on white cons. Well, so could we all at that level, I can still whoop on cons that are white TO YOU.
The thing is, once you start moving up the ladder the with the higher level creatures you face it's a whole different ball game. Things that con blue to US you won't be able to use your strategies on. I never used to have to use KD either, but once you move up the skill tree, you are forced to have to start using some of you more advanced abilities, and now these have been essentially taken away from us.
So for the most part you are not realizing that the only thing that you are saying with your argument is that we shouldn't try to advance, we shouldn't try to implement the new skills we acquire, and that we should just be content (like you) to use novice moves and strategies against lower level cons (which of course con a little higher to you) and forget that there are even supposed to be more advanced moves at the top of the skill tree to obtain.
You ever look at the pikeman skill tree, look at the skills that are aquired as you move up, moves that do area damage and area sweep. THIS is what people are working toward, to area attack mobs you have to be willing to pull them all to yourself and let them agro YOU whether you are solo or in a group. To take this type of heat you have to have a reliable defense. The Area sweep, this is what defined higher level pikeman and no matter what any one may think who have NOT ACTUALLY TRIED TO USE IT, sweep is now for the most part useless. Crowd control is what defined us higher level pikeman.
Think of it this way since you are content to fight lower level mobs, in group settings you are supposed to be able to take on tougher opponents right? With ranged users this is easy, the all set up around the high level mob at varying angles and fire on the mob, if another Ranged uses joins in he can also easily take up a position along the firing line and ad his might to the fray. Now, a pikeman steps in, useless sweep and all, runs in to help out the group, get's up in the mob's face, since he is devoid of defensive tactics at close range he has to be all offense, he attacks the mob and hits it, maybe, the mob then agro's him being the closest thing to attack, he is dead in one or two hits, and we all know you can't run from these things easily once you are in their face. So what does the Pikeman accomplish for the group? That one or two token hits he gets (maybe) before getting incaped.
I'm not flaming, but it may serve you better to have experience on the subject you are commenting on before you post such a strong oppinion.
