Thread: Dueled two novice pikers tonight ...
Was out hunting with a few friends tonight, two of which are novice pikemen. The first of which was 1032 I believe and the second was only 0012. Anyways, for fun I decided to duel the both of them at the same time just to check out my skills as a master compared to novices. All three of us were buffed up by the same doctor so they were about the same ham level as I. The two of them wore sets of composite while I wore no armor as usual.
I started the fight with sweep 2 and to my surprise they both went down. After this I proceeded to switch between spin attack 2 and area attack 2. The fight lasted about 1 1/2 minutes before the first guy ran away (he was about to be mind incapped and wanted no part of laying on the ground for 100 seconds) and the second guy, left on his own, I incapped about 5 seconds later with a polearmhit 3. My total damage taken amounted to about none as neither my health nor action ever got depleted and my mind was maybe at 3/4.
Now there is no real point to this story just a lot of raised questions.
Do novice pikers suck that bad? Are master pikers thatd@mn good? Do these two guys just not know what they are doing (doubtful being they both learned tactics from me :smileywink
?
I'm not trying to boast or brag here I fully understand these were a couple of noober pikers. I just wonder how it is that in that short of time I could deal out that much damage to two buffed guys wearing comp armor and not have much in the way of damage taken for my troubles.
I really hate to think its because novice pikers suck that bad. I don't remember sucking that bad.

What and odd thing. Maybe perhaps I should have put a space between the colon and the parenthesis. Yet in preview it came up as a wink. Hmmm.

Ok, new thought for this thread. Why is there no edit feature for your posts? Correspondents get one. Why not us peons?
It should read 'What AN odd thing'
well... being a hologrinder you can take my opinion or you can through it out the window and it wont matter either way.
What I have observed in my climb.
I felt undeniably gimped until I reached 3 3 3 4. For fun I would equipe my vibro axe and spam pole hit 3 on a empty Lair until I was nearly out of HAM then yell for help cause it was beating me.
once I acchieved a higher level I felt gimped... UNLESS I was against multipul opponents.
Went out with a group and killed pikets. I got about 700 xp per kill because I couldnt sustain a high enough level of DPS to keep up with the rest of the group.
went out solo and killed 3 Graul Maulers in about 2 minutes flat for 4989 xp each. (80% kinetic Armor, doctors buffs, entertainers buffs). With a little patience I could kill 8 maulers in under 10 minutes.
Seems to me Pikemen dont come into thier own unti way late in the game (When the negative 30-50 of their weapons is offset by polearm support), and then they work best against several opponents at the same time( BIG hits against multipull opponenets). But again this is just my opinion.
I am a master Pike and I have mastered fencer and was 3 blocks from mastering Swordsman and was 2/3/1/4 in TKA before I ruined my character for the unattainable Jedi. I can say that I was doint much more damage in PvE as a swordsman than I do as a Master Pikeman (and I examine the creatures to make sure I match the right weapon to their lowest resist or vulnerability). Fencer was nice, and did very well in PvP. TKA, really dont know and dont care. I will never use that as my main means of attack.
But using specials as a Pikeman that is not buffed and not in armor, I still do more damage to myself than a mob will. I must be ........nm
Yes Novice is just that bad, I am finally starting to say he my guy is pretty rocking at 2-0-3-2...
The more I thought about it should be that way...it is supposed to be tough making your way to Master, not an easy ride...if Novice pikes were able to put there mack on half as good as Master it wouldnt make sense...
They could spreed out some of the mods in the skill trees that might help a bit...but the higher I go up the more I see a method to the madness...

Well i am a master pikeman and i have to say pikeman sucks. Maser Pikeman vs. TKM. Now this should be a pretty equal duel correct? Well it should be but it isnt... I go down in no more than 10 secs and i do a total of about 200 dmg to him. Now there is definitly a problem with pikeman and the reason you beat 2 novice pikeman is because ALL pikeman sucks. Try fighting 2 novice TKA's. Then lets see how good you are.
well, i dueled a 1 novice tka, mainly because there weren't any others. he wasn't so novice. he had powerboost, a kd, and a dizzy attack. yeah, i beat him in 2 hits (legsweep, ph3). then, i dueled a master heavy swordsman 3 times. beat him twice. dueled a fencer, whiped the floor with him. these are guys that know how to pvp too. why was i able to do this? no clue. what i did notice is that the 2h swordsman and i both started out with CoB on. i could kd and dizzy him easy enough, but while laying on the ground, i couldn't hit him. all you see is counterattack pop up over his head. i've found this to be true with all the melee duels i get in. the kd and the dizzy aren't too hard to stick on people, but the other attacks are.
because there is no 'try', only 'do'

It's called balance.
Too many people are under the impression that the moment they hit "novice" in an elite combat profession they are ready to solo dath unbuffed.
You are a master. You are SUPPOSED to own them. If they both hadyour AOE knockdown (only one did), your speed, your defenses, your AOE attacks and your accuracy then things would have been different.
Both of these guys only had the first accuracy box and neither of them had the first speed box.
