Thread: Block = 50% damage but no armor bonus?
From reading over mycombat windowit looks like when we block (other wise known as counter-attack in our combat spam) that we dont get the defense of our armor on top of this. Now I could be wrong and when I get off work in 6 hours (hmm 6 hours before I slaughter more pickets :lightsaber
I will be testing this more. I would like for everyone to look into thisas well, cause if its true we need to start screaming and complaining. Cause I dont know about you but I like my 70% kenetic ubese armor I wear, especialy sense if the critters attack isnt considered ar1 then the damages while wearing armor is reduced like so for kenetic is like so 50% reduction for ar1 vs ar0 then another 70% reduction for kenetic attacks. Block on the otherhand looks to be just a flat 50% reduction that doesnt let armor contribute to the reduction.
Thanks in advance,
Lageas
If Gunman21 isn't back by Monday night I will pass this concern on to the Devs for him. "IF" this is truly how Block is working then (my opinion) it should be repaired.
now, let us not forget it might be "working as intended"

Agreed. But if this is how it was intended to work, perhaps an explanation of their logic for why it was set up this way would be helpful for both sides.
Hearing their side will help Pikeman to see the Devs side of the equation:
Hypothetically, they might say something like "Well... you have to remember that these are already attacks that got through your normal defenses, armor included. Dodge goes off 50% of the time but stops 100% of the damage. Block goes off 75% of the time but only stops 75% of the damage. The end result is the same; being that 50% of the damage still gets through."
Then we could say:
"Ahh... well that makes sense. If our armor came into play also, then the 50% damage would be reduced below 50% and tip the scales. I now understand your perspective.
However... we have evidence that Block is going off far less than 75% of the time and only reducing damage by 50%. We have performed extensive testing to verify this, and have the data logs to back up our claims. The final result is that more than 80% of the damage is making it through Block, not just 50%. Can you look into this?"
Then the Devs could say:
"Hmm... that's not how it should be working. We will investigate it."
Then the next patch could say:
*Corrected a bug in Block that prevented it from functioningproperly. It should be workingnow.
At least that's how my conversations with them go.
So to make this work I need fire rates, damage getting thru = what %,if armor is helping, and a lot of patients?
So how do I figure fire rates out? Do I take my master pikeman and go up to a noob brawler and just have him swing at me? I like this game but this seems like a lot of effort for a game I pay to play
.
I will work on it when I have time but it is going to be hard to figure out the whole armor thing as is. Fitting that in with my jedi grind will be intresting. For the most part I amstarting to feal like any changes I try for will bedelayed till after the big combat revamp anyways.
Well we shall see if I have a lot of luck I could unlock jedi today ![]()
Wish me luck

hummmm... asking for their logic might not be what we want....... *very scared*

Well... that's what I do. Hehe. In fact, it's been months since I've been able to play the game just to play the game. I just figure it's part of the whole Correspondent package.
I don't think anyone expects you (specifically) to do this testing. There is a chance you could get it looked into without the testing to back it up, but without the testing the devs have a tendency to chalk up your concerns to speculation and rumor. They like to believe nothing is wrong with their coding.
As for how to go about doing the testing, all Gunman21 needs to do is ask me for help. We can meet on TC, I'll give up all my skill points (loose all my professions) so I have the base accuracy.I'll attack him so he can get the data reference he needs. Then I can use the CorrTerms to alter my accuracy modifiers in stages and we can re-preform the test again for each level. This would allow us to get hard evidence as to how Block is actually working.
I'd be willing to donate a few nights of testing to getting this fixed.
excellent, I hope Gunman21 takes you up on that offer and that the community gets to see some real hard working corrspondents in action for a change in pace. If not, he could always force Valdo into doing it

Hooray for Raph! I'd be willing to test this out myself, but if you can do it in a more controlled environment, it might be much more official to the devs. I can't honestly say I'm optimistic about anything being changed, though.

Make me do it I see how it is. Dont make me put you in your tent Braglor.
He would end up doing more work anyways correcting my spelling and gramical errors. This is not a bump ![]()
