Ya its crap the best dmg multiplier we get is like 3 or 4 and that comes with a 3 times ham cost multiplier too, total bunk

I was thinking the Pikemen were supposed to do the heaviest damage per swing, but uh, no, not true I reached both Novice Pikeman and Novice Swordsman in the last two days, and I expected my DAMAGE-sliced LVA (468, I think) to do the most damage... but my SPEED sliced Power Hammer (damage 475 or so) is MUCH higher. Against the same critter, with negligable resists to either Kinetic (LVA) or Blast (PH), the Power Hammer still hits better almost constantly. I saw a lot more 2000+ hits with the PH than the LVA... in fact, I rarely exceed 2000 with the LVA, and that's using "xxxxx Hit 2" for each respective weapon.

So... the Swordsmen's best weapon is faster, more damaging, AND more accurate thanthe Pikeman's...?

What am Imissing here lol? Something isn't adding up Could somebody explain the difference that I'mnot getting here? ~J

well... argh.. I think it has something to do with the multipliers we get to our attacks. I am unable to find the thread listing our multipliers, but I think antares_Kauri has it somewhere easy to find... argh, I cannot even remember the threads name... My brain function seems to be bugged at the moment

I thought the power hammer was slower than the LVA.

It is much slower. Unsliced speeds in the 5-6's...

so then what's this guys point?

A weapon that's slower than the LVA but hits harder seems fine to me. . . my only problem is at least the power hammer can hit something.

I think his point is that a speed sliced powerhammer is about the same speed as his damage sliced LVA and still does more damage

Then why in the world did he title this thread

"Wow... given equal skill, the Power Hammer (UNsliced) far outdamages the (SLICED!) LVA...?"

He's making it sound like the power hammer one shot kills a krayt and the an uber sliced LVA can't kill a durni.

I mean read his post.

He has a speed sliced power hammer that has a higher base damage than his LVA and he's wondering why the power hammer hits for more?

Umm I'm guessing it's because it's got a higher damage rating. . . of course that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Well one thing you could be missing is that the Powerhammer IS the swordsman's best weapon but the LVA is not the pikeman's. I'm pretty sure the weapon recieved at novice pikeman is a Vibro Lance. Now you guys may think of the LVA as a better weapon than the Vibro Lance. I wouldn't know because the only polearm skill I have is what was needed for Master Brawler, I never got to try the Vibro Lance.

The LVA is the best. Despite the poorer accuracy, at higher levels it doesn't make that much of a difference and the speed difference is negligible as well, so the greater damage is key.

you are correct about the placement of those weapons, however that is one of the many mistakes the pikeman profession suffers from. The LVA and LV are in the wrong place in the skilltree and should have been changed months ago. Oh well, guess the DEVs are"working" on it

Just seems rediculous to me that the Swordsman's best weapon far outclasses the Pikeman's best weapon in both speed AND damage.
